Tasteless food disguised as fancy fusion cuisine
Later edit: Thank you towards the company for answering my review. I have decided to tone it down a notch and give it a constructive twist in the hope things will change for the better as I have already seen improvement.
I have been eating at canteens managed by this company for 3-4 years in several places around Denmark, some of them being the NOVI Science Park at AAU campus, the DTU Science Park at DTU and some private companies. Overall, my experience with the food was bad at most average, although the staff was always kind.
Here are a list of things I have observed which bothered me:1) in general there is both a meat version and a vegetarian version of the hot dish, however in enough days to make it noticable, the meat version is just a piece of vegetable thrown on grill.2) if the meat is present, many times enough to make it noticable, it is some kind of dry mince. Sometimes good meat is being served, not often. A good sauce of some sort would help a lot.3) although the service is advertised as a buffet, it is allowed to have only one serving of the hot dish.4) the cold cuts (slices of processed meat, cheese and other) are served each on its own individual little plate. I have observed this was improved since my latest review, so one star increase.5) the style of food is too complex in order to actually obtain something tasty in this setup and in an acceptable daily price range.
My suggestions for improvement:
1) Stick to only one cuisine style in order for the chefs to gain experience and become good at cooking one style only instead of trying to merge everything together. 2) The canteen food can be something very simple but most importantly must be nutritious and tasty, something at least better than fast-food. Use fresh meat for the hot dish and keep a simple style in order to accomodate an acceptable daily price for food.3) Reintroduce trays so people don't drop their food while trying to balance a plate, a glass of water and their Cutlery.4)Get to know your audience: the canteens are located in campuses and private companies where people come to work, therefore they are looking for a nutritious meal, not a complex culinary experience which leaves a daft impression.
I have to say, the canteens in general look very good and the atmosphere is pretty, it is just a pity that the food is not at the same level. I strongly believe that trying to serve fancy food in such setups it is not the way to go.
