MY wife, Jackie, and I went on the cruise on the Dee tasting Italian wines with food pairings. A really pleasant experience with wines and canapes tasted at a leisurely pace. Richard is very personable, knowledgeable and delivers his contribution with humour. We shall certainly return at the next available opportunity. Jim Rodgers

We have thoroughly enjoyed several events with Wine School of Cheshire this year. I have been late in reviewing these and so this is a consolidated review. I can highly recommend Richard and any event with the Wine School of Cheshire for an enjoyable afternoon or evening, with great food, great wine pairings and good company. Richard is an extremely well regarded and knowledgeable host who imparts his enthusiasm and knowledge of wine in an easy and enjoyable manner. It's a great way to taste and to learn about wines that you would not normally think of trying (who knew there's a vineyard near Llandudno?).
I also particularly like the way in which Richard and his company promotes young talent from local colleges, supporting them in their ambition to work in hospitality, both front and back of house.
Given the quality of the food and wine, this is great value for money.

Richard was super knowledgeable about the wines we were tasting from the Ancient world, we learned so much about them and about the foods to pair with each wine. The venue is wonderful with amazing pieces of art from emerging local artists to view.
It was a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon, educational and lots of fun!
Would definitely recommend and can’t wait to come back.

Exceptional afternoon today, Richard is the perfect host, very knowledgeable and his manner puts everyone at ease. Food was delicious, I had cauliflower steak which was absolutely gorgeous. Each wine was described by Richard, I could not fault our experience today, and look forward to attending again in the Art School.

Would definitely recommend, really informal and intimate setting with lots of opportunity for questions so learned loads, delicious wines with no selling so felt honest recommendations. Delicious food from Duttons and excellent cheese, plenty of time, didn’t feel rushed at all. Really fun thing to do with friends or family.

I attended the “Taste of South Africa” in the Tasting Room on 16 October. What a fantastic experience!

What can we say, fantastic day from start to finish. Richard has an abundance of knowledge and made us feel so at ease from the very start. Fantastic wine, food and atmosphere. We will return as soon as we can get on a day which isn’t sold out! (Kudos to you Richard!) thank you again!

Enjoyed another lovely online tasting event last night, pairing two of our favourite things - cheese and wine!
A selection of white, red and dessert wine - something for everyone's palate, with a delicious selection of cheeses paired to match each wine.
Richard always manages to choose an interesting selection of quality wines and there's usually something very different to try too.. last night was no exception with Zierfandler, a rare white Austrian grape and a red Cabernet Sauvignon from Israel.
We always find Richard's tasting evenings interesting, informative and extremely enjoyable.
Really looking forward to our next tasting event in Knutsford!

Richard is a lovely host who has great knowledge coupled with a passionate and endearing style. He is approachable and makes you feel very comfortable and at ease asking what could be perceived as 'silly' questions. The evening itself is brilliant fun and real value for money once you account for the beautiful venue, the wine and the food accompaniments. We will definitely be going back again!

Saturday afternoon in Chester overlooking the rapids and the Old Dee Bridge, what could be nicer than that?
Blind wine tasting of 10 wines, tasty paired nibbles and magic all held together by Richard’s excellent hosting, boundless enthusiasm and knowledge of wine; supported by Simon South the wonderful magician who even managed to give us back our £10 note in a bottle of wine and impeccable food service by Edgar House in the hotel’s delightful gardens.
An outstanding afternoon in a fabulous location.
Well done again Wine School of Chester
A lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon, beautiful venue, a fabulous setting to return to Wine School in person. Hosts made everyone feel very welcome and safe at the beautiful Edgar House. Wine great, food was fabulous and a touch of magic from the marvellous Simon South. Thank you Richard, a great day all round.

My first post-lockdown outing was to Wines of Asia with Wine School of Cheshire. It was a great night, and the adaptations Richard has had to make to provide a COVID-19 secure event didn’t detract from the evening, and made you feel safe and secure. Wine and food matching as always was excellent, and really nice to try some wines from less familiar regions. The new venue at Edgar House was also stunning. Can’t recommend Richard and his events highly enough!

I've been doing Richard's wine schools for a number of years now and can't recommend them highly enough.
Richard is incredibly knowledgeable and the perfect host, the venues are always fantastic and the food pairings, whether they be a meal or a canapés, are always of the highest standard and perfect matches.

I attended the Wines of Asia event with my wife on Thursday, 16th July. We have been to a number of Wine School events in the past and found them all excellent. Richard has also been a regular companion through lockdown with his online events, again all excellent.
This event was at the School’s new summer location, the garden of the Edgar House Hotel in Chester. It is beautifully located on the walls by the river and the food and service were top notch.
As for the wine and education, it was of the usual highest standard. We go to Wine School to try different things and be challenged. This event achieved those goals perfectly, with effective social distancing thrown in for good measure. A great time was had!
We are booked at the Taste of Italy event on the 18th at the same venue. We can’t wait!
