If I could give Chemist Warehouse less…

If I could give Chemist Warehouse less than a 0 I would. I ordered a click and collect which the website showed all items in stock. The store cancelled my order a week later and were supposed to refund me, but the refund didn’t come through. I emailed the general customer service email who told me to wait 20 business days and that the charge should have disappeared from my account and to call my bank. Called the bank and no refund was evident, being way longer than 20 business days since the transaction. Emailed back and the person tried to offset the issue by saying I needed to go in store to sort the problem. I went in person to Queen Street chemist warehouse and was passed around to 3 different people who didn’t know how to resolve the issue. Showed them the bank statement that the payment was actually deducted, no positive or disappearing transactions. I was incredibly calm and patient. They phoned their manager “Grace” and advised me that she would ring me back the following day. They didn’t ring me back of course so I phoned back and got told I would receive a call back. It’s been 5 days since I visited the store with no contact from the manager and over a month since they took my payment (order was made on the 5th August) with no refund and no items which they said they couldn’t offer me either. Really disappointing treatment, all this back and forth with me doing all the chasing up, unfulfilled promises and staff that just want to disregard your issue onto the next person. Don’t think I’ll ever get my refund at this rate.

This actually happened yesterday

This happened yesterday. My god the short-haired old lady who was at the cashier at the Henderson outlet is rude and unprofessional.I I was there for one hour looking for perfume and other stuff and I accidentally left my phone which is an iPhone 14 on one of the shelves. I ran to to the cashier to ask them to ring my no so that I could find it I was crying and shivering. That lady was like “Oh sorry we can't do anything. Please move from the cashier “My god I asked you to ring not to buy me one”. thank god there was another girl in the cashier who rang me. She didn't listen to that lady kudos to that and I found it thank god. Have some human decency lady. Me and my family almost buying products every month from a chemist's warehouse and this is how you treat your daily customers

Where do I start?

Where do I start? Ordered products online - the first, HiSmile V34 Teeth Color Corrector Serum (ordered 10 September). It doesn't work. Can't get through to Customer Services over the phone to complain or get a refund, so complained through my local branch - Botany. Serena's (one of Botany's Managers) response? "You need to contact the Manufacturer, it should have been returned in 7 days" and "you can only ask for an exchange or a credit" and "its policy" to which I replied "policy ISN'T law". She was factually incorrect and her statements are against the Consumer Guarantees Act. Small argument ensues, with her cutting me off when I speak several times to contest her ridiculous response. She just gets louder with me. Nice.
Still can't get through to Customer Services online (trying for 2 days so far) to deal with the above issue, and another - I get an email from Customer Services to say that another product from a separate order (that was in stock at the time of ordering) is now 2-4 weeks away. Sent an email to Alisha Customer Services Team to say it was in stock when ordered? No Response So Far.

Not good enough guys. Educate your managers on the law. Get more staff working in Customer Services, and get someone on those phones. And pay them so they will do a good job for you. 1/2 hour or more waiting times are pretty ridiculous - even Serena said so! Leaving customers with products that don't work and they can't complain about without waiting for days to get through is not good practice. You aren't WINZ or a government department for goodness sake.

Good One

Well, I have had always a great time at Chemist Warehouse. Have used their Online Shopping option and the In Store option too. Have never faced any issues. For me, they deserve their 5 stars. Will be back for more. Chao.

VERY poor customer service

VERY poor customer service! I bought a bottle of Sealegs from Dunedin CW in the Meridian mall while I was visiting the city and when I got home and opened it there was one missing. I phoned them and they advised me they couldn't do anything unless I returned the product. As I live in Invercargill I had to courier it up to them at my own expense. Weeks later I received a replacement bottle with no packing slip, letter, voucher, or refund for my $6 freight I had paid. So I rung again and once I explained the problem I was handed over to 3 different people to re-explain the problem again, that I was out of pocket because I'd had to return the product at my own expense. The last person I spoke to I presume was the manager and his response was .. "You could have just sent us a photo of the receipt." To which I replied - "But you asked me to send it back to you!" After I'd reiterated (nicely I might add) how the customer should not have to foot the bill for faulty goods or postage to send them back, and asked if I could get a voucher to refund my for the courier cost, he said no they don't have vouchers and then "I don't really have an answer for you... we can't really do anything.." I'll NOT buy anything from there again, I don't care how cheap it is.

Shocking staff at their Henderson…

Shocking staff at their Henderson branch. The older lady on the front counter with glasses is so snooty and always rude to myself and other customers. Ruins my shopping experience. Other staff on the shop floor don't have a clue about what they are selling. Horrible experience overall. Will stick to their Lynmall branch

Do not buy from this company

Do not buy from this company. Products don't turn up, but they take your money regardless. Surely this is being investigated. AliExpress is less dodgy and probably ships faster.

They have no return policy almost everything

According to my wife, the lady at the C&C counter indicated her on the receipt, and it appears that this place implements a strict non-return policy for items like medicine, vitamins, fragrances, baby products, and nearly everything else they sell, as far as we can tell.

Two days ago, I purchased two bottles of vitamins online, click and collect. Today is 7/08/2023, upon receiving the products, we discovered that each bottle had a surprisingly short shelf life, with an expiration date of March 2024. Each bottle contained 250 pills, giving us a total of 500 pills, but the shelf life was only 150 days. One vitamin per day.
Unfortunately, my wife had already opened one of the bottles before realizing the limited shelf life, leaving us with a significant number of pills that we cannot consume within the given timeframe. Understanding the potential health risks of consuming expired supplements, we immediately contacted the store to return the unopened bottle for a refund.

I have been waiting on hold for an extended period to reach 0800 customer services FOR AN HOUR without anyone answering. Then my wife drove to the store with only "no return on Vitamins and medicines, perfumes, baby products, and maybe more no return"
They refused to return or refund the unopen online C&C vitamins.
Be aware, customers.

They won't refund or answer you.

Availability function = USELESS!

Purchased 12 items online, opting to click & collect from Manukau store, as I have business there tomorrow. Went through checkout process after double-checking that my items actually WERE in-store using CHECK AVAILABILITY link for each product on website. Checked-out at 6:50pm. Received an email at 8:15pm stating, "ONE OR MORE ITEMS IN YOUR ORDER ARE UNAVAILABLE". Scrolled to see which items weren't in-store at Manukau...ALL of them weren't. Yep! You read that right: ALL ITEMS WERE UNAVAILABLE! CHECK AVAILABILITY link on website is USELESS, negating it's functionality. My purchases were common items, not four-leaf clover, once-in-a-blue-moon, extra rare Pokemon finds! Complete waste of time.

I have been to Chemist Warehouse many times and had great service except for my last visit. I arrived at the checkout with my items and was met by a staff member who didn’t greet me at all and continued her conversation with another staff member who was unpacking goods to the side of the counter, throughout the transaction. She did ask if I wanted a receipt which I declined with a smile. As I work in customer service I found this appalling. Thanks

Thoughtless female pharmacist

This review goes to a female pharmacist (of which she did not mention her name) who works at St Luke's between 17.00 and 17.22 hours today. This incident happened when I called the dispensary and spoke to a male pharmacist at 17.00hrs about an inhaler script that had three inhalers for three months, and he stated that the patient had two repeat medicine. When the patient came in to pick up a script, he was advised by a female pharmacist that script does not have repeats(even though they only gave one inhaler last month instead of three inhalers). When the patient called me, I was furious and spoke to the female pharmacist to explain the situation. She said they could not dispense the script for less than 90 days (I was confused even though we prescribed three inhalers, and they only gave one, they should give another two). The male pharmacist did not speak to me to clarify the matter and instead insisted did not speak to me (clearly, he lied about it as I recognised his voice from the background after being confronted by his female colleague. Unfortunately, I could not get his name. These pharmacists need to improve management skills and dignity, with cynical reasons, without investigating the problem. It is a huge hassle for my patient to get another script and chargeable from the clinic as whoever pharmacist dispensed his script last week discarded the two inhalers—such poor service and very inconvenient. I would advise my patients to go to a local pharmacist who can understand their situation rather than paying another script for unnecessary stress.

Appalling customer service

Appalling customer service. Ordered things and was sent an email saying they were out of stock and would be sent soon (as like 5 separate orders). After waiting nearly a month with no communication, I discovered they had actually cancelled my order. They didn't bother to contact me and still charged me for the items they didn't supply. I contacted them asking what was going on and a week later received an email that said We are processing a refund. Nothing else. No apology for the mistake, or lack of communication, no apology for the inconvenience. This is the second time this has happened to me when ordering online from Chemist Warehouse. It's not good enough.
It's also disgusting that Chemist Warehouse advertises certain brands as "Number one in New Zealand" and "Number one in the world." when talking about brands no one has ever heard of. It's completely misleading. I think my ordering experience with Chemist Warehouse is the worst I've ever experienced, and that includes dealing with Chinese companies like Wish and Ali express.

Never again

Never again! There are far superior suppliers in NZ who deliver within a reasonable time and pick up the phone when an order is unacceptably delayed (or lost?). I am still waiting for the balance of my order after 2 weeks. It may never arrive and I am resigned to that. I tried calling. 40 mins wait on the phone only to be told by a recorded message to "go to the website". I will pay a few extra dollars to have a better experience elsewhere next time.

Chemist Warehouse online has improved this time

Update Oct 23: They did action the refund very quickly and I have since received another order (that I gave specific instructions not to supply 'anything' or charge me 'anything' if a product is unable to be supplied. It worked, received all products no problem so I've taken the 1 star up to 3 stars. Online is completely separate to in-store (I didn't know that, but have always found Chemist Warehouse in Albany to be excellent).

May 23 review:
If I'd read all the reviews telling the same story, I would never have purchased from Chemist Warehouse online. Ordered, money taken but some products not supplied. Have tried for 2 weeks to contact them but after holding for 20-30 mins, they say they can't take your call and to call back or contact them via email. They don't reply to emails so what's the point. I will report this company and suggest others do the same otherwise this will just keep happening.

Never again

Purchased product online, confirmation email received, credit card debited. No further communication, items not received, no reply to two emails, no reply after waiting 30 minutes on phone. I would not recommend this seller. A review is a review, please do not tell me what to say or think.

Misleading Advertising-Appalling Service Levels

This business advertisers items knowing they don’t have enough stock right from the get go
I called into six stores and none of them had the stock.
Staff couldn’t tell me when the new stock would arrive and then the promo expires - this is false advertising at its best
I then tried online ordering and the order was processed in and invoice received and my credit card charged
Ten days later and after three phone calls on the 0800 number where no one answers plus an email with no response I called a local branch. The branch staff all be it pleasant had no answers for me. They suggested I cancel the order and call in to purchase at the store directly. I then asked would they sell to me at the promo rate and you guessed it they said no… really!!!
Now I see my order has been cancelled with a note saying supplier issue
This is complete BS and it’s time an official investigation by consumers watchdog should be undertaken
I will contacting the media to see if an investigation into this can be started
This is appalling service by an Australian business
