Why fix one issue when you can fix all in one go.
Gary and his colleague turned up at short notice to fix a number of issues at my elderly Father house.
They went above and beyond fixing not only current issues but also an ongoing issue that had prevented the use of hot water. All prices were discussed prior to work being carried out. Best of all peace of mind all round. Thanks Gary.
Gary and his colleague were quick to…
Gary and his colleague were quick to respond and very friendly throughout. Our issue was swiftly sorted and our stresses resolved. He has saved us several times when others didn’t want to respond. We would happily use him again.
Con artist
Con artist. Avoid. Doesn't let you know costs then gets aggressive if you don't pay his outrageous prices.
Avoid at all costs
Avoid at all costs. Wish I had seen reviews before.
We needed an emergency plumber, called Gary out. We’d managed to fix the issue before he got to us but had to accept paying the call out charge. Then tried to charge us an hours work despite not doing anything.
Forced us to pay via bank transfer despite wanting to pay by card or invoice (we’re a business not a residential property). Wouldn’t give name of business and was forced to transfer to his personal account. Have since been chasing for a receipt to have some proof for the business. Nothing. Just avoid.
AVOID AVOID AVOID
Charged £900 for an hours work. Added extra charges without checking that the work should be done first. Wouldn't provide an invoice despite chasing several times. AVOID AT ALL COSTS
Overpriced opportunist
Gary fixed what was required which was a relatively simple job charged £260 for ten minutes work.
A unprofessional experience all round.
As many other contributors have added ask for a cost inadvance - Charging his 'normal' rate plus paying a additional rate for his apprentice for ten minutes feels like a scam
Nothing felt proffesional about the experience

Speedy turn around and fantastic service. Lovely honest man 👍
Emergency support - good
Discovering our toilet flush was broken, we called Gary to fix it. He turned up as agreed, made a temporary fix while he ordered the required part. Returned to fix the new part.
It was a Saturday and we of course paid emergency rates which was fair.
If you haveva plumbing emergency I am sure Gary will be your man.
Avoid
Avoid, avoid, avoid. Wish I had seen these reviews, basically I was charged £700 to turn my water off ( wasn’t going to refuse to pay as I live by myself and didn’t want any trouble) Wanted to charge me another £400 to actually fix the issue which I said no to. Total rip off
Avoid at all costs
Avoid at all costs. Literally takes advantage of people in vulnerable situations. Tried charging over £800 for a job that turned out to cost £190 to repair.
Turns up saying his name is Angus, its not its Gary.
Do not pay a thing until you get an invoice. Guarentee you will not get one because this is a cowboy!
Responsive, professional and expert
Gary was responsive (even on his day off) and diagnosed the boiler issue quicker. He sorted parts and had it fixed within 24hrs which we appreciated maasively. He even checked it was all working the next day and for me that is all about pride in the work. I'd highly recommend Gary.
Should have looked at Trustpilot first
Should have looked at Trustpilot first. Overcharged for unprofessional advice which he got wrong after I got expert advice from Severn Trent Water Engineers. Waste of money and no invoice for an insurance claim.
I have raised a Complaint to Citizens…
I have raised a Complaint to Citizens Advice / Trading Standards for the following:
Amount Charged: £408 (paid via bank transfer)
Summary of the Issue
On 3rd July 2025, I contacted what I believed to be a reputable local emergency plumbing service , Cheltenham Emergency Plumbers, also appearing online under Big Job Little Job. The contact number I used was 07900 923888, and I found it via ChatGPT referencing mjtaylor-plumbing.com. However, the individual who arrived claimed that “Big Job Little Job isn’t a thing anymore,” and the business name was unclear throughout.
I called due to an urgent situation involving blocked drains and flooding from both toilets and the shower. A man arrived promptly, and over approximately 15 minutes, he:
Unblocked a drain
Replaced a rubber washer in one of the toilets
The replacement of the toilet washer was entirely unsolicited, I had not raised it as an issue. He simply said he had the part in the van and could "fix it while he was there." I hadn’t noticed anything visibly broken, nor was the toilet malfunctioning to my knowledge. He did not show me the original part he removed, so I have no way of verifying whether a repair was even necessary.
I was then charged £408, which I paid via immediate bank transfer, before any invoice was given, because he stated:
“That’s not how I do business” when I asked to see a breakdown first.
Key Concerns, Overcharging:
The plumber quoted the following breakdown in WhatsApp messages:
£125 call-out
£125 first hour
£125 for the second issue (rubber washer)
Plus cost of the seal
He also contradicted himself, later claiming there was no call-out fee since he was already on site. The inconsistency, lack of documentation, and inflated rate for 15 minutes of work felt exploitative.
Lack of Invoice:
Despite repeated requests (on 4th and 7th July), I have still not received an itemised invoice. He has now stopped responding.
Unprofessional Behaviour:
No protective wear or courtesy (shoes worn indoors).
Brought a puppy, which was left in a van on a warm day, with only a window slightly open.
Created an uncomfortable environment. I was alone in the house (female, 35) and felt pressured to pay immediately. I regret not having someone with me.
Misleading Business Identity:
It’s unclear whether the plumber trades under the name on the website I found, and he verbally distanced himself from the name “Big Job Little Job,” despite online listings suggesting a link. This may be misleading to others, especially in emergency situations.
I asked citizens advice to do the following, however the response I had was ‘sort it out yourself’ so writing this as a clear warning to everyone! Do not use!
A formal investigation into the pricing, business practices, and identity of the plumber or company.
Support in recovering a fair portion of the £408, which I believe was significantly inflated for the minimal work performed.
A warning issued to others in the Cheltenham area to avoid similar experiences.
I was happy to provide:
WhatsApp screenshots of all conversations
Proof of payment
Further context if needed!
Paid over £400 to clear an outside…
Paid over £400 to clear an outside drain. Was in the property for less than 20 minutes. When the price was challenged he got aggressive over message and then ignored all later messages and requests for an invoice. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
Fixed minor leak
Fixed minor leak, came as promised, took around 20mins, but very expensive at £400 which soured the experience.
Expensive and wouldn’t recommend
Came in good time and fixed leaking pipe but… Expensive for what he did and refused to give a receipt. Messages disappear on what’s app. Wouldn’t recommend
