It’s ok. I Do get my social security payments early, which I really like. But their “Fraud Shield” alerts are really irritating. It seems EVERY transaction gets flagged. Frustrating. Anyway.

My Account was Deactivated While I was Traveling in Africa
I spoke to Charlie account representatives at least 3 times before leaving for the African Continent, telling them of my travel plans to Nigeria and a few other countries. Not once did those female account representatives mention that they would deactivate my account while I was in Nigeria. I arrive in Nigeria and I try accessing my funds and I’m told my account has suspicious behavior and has been suspended and I’m blocked from my account for 4 months and after lackadaisical treatment after calling Charlie at least 5 times at a cost of $20+ each call, a MALE customer service representative told me that Charlie does not support transactions on accounts while a person is in NIGERIA. HE apologized for the previous reps I spoke to who never mentioned this “policy”. He was the only representative that tried to help me and found this ridiculous “policy” that I never saw or read when I moved my SS check to Charlie. As long as I have control of my card and account info, where I am physically located in the world should not matter, especially if I notify Charlie that I am traveling prior to leaving the USA, which I did. I am closing my account after my March SS deposit is paid. Charlie can’t have ANY SAY on where I travel and when Charlie can deactivate my account on suspicious transactions when it was the account holder trying to access my account. This seems like racist banking behavior on Charlie’s part controlling where and when I can be in the world and access my funds. I wonder what other unheard of banking policies Charlie has adopted and obviously their account representatives aren’t aware of that negatively affect traveling seniors, but it seems it’s only one country that Charlie does this to its members who travel, and that’s Nigeria.

The policy and procedures for protecting my account and my money is very important and I am a very satisfied customer with the company in reference to the security and safety I am very impressed also with the customer service specifically the manager by the name of John amazing customer service experience he really deserves the position to be a manager it’s because of his ability to provide amazing customer service experience to me I will continue to do business with the company and have my monthly income payment deposited into my account. Thank you for having an employee like Mr. John the manager for customer service he is most definitely an asset to the company.

I'd give it a ZERO if it were allowed. Social Security tried to set up a direct deposit and it got rejected, in November 2024. In January 2025 I attempted to set up my payroll direct deposit, It appeared to being ok, infact it was supposed to go in on Feb 12, 2025, They told me because it would be on the actual pay day of 2/14/2025. The deposit did not go in, even after being reassured that it would be dosited on the 14thwhen I called them on the 12th. I called my employer and was told that it was stopped by Charlie and tha a physicat check has been issued. the lack of customer service at Charlie is a disgrace. The system at Charlie is from the 1800's. DO NOT risk your money here, it's a SCAM!!!

What Charlie is doing is a good job…
What Charlie is doing is a good job with customer service, and their really professional how they handle complaints like my having a problem with my name not matching with the other bank, so Charlie made a few suggestions and it took me about three attempts, but they kept helping and that third time my transfer cleared and they were able to teach me by having the patience and understanding me and my needs.

I love the way you can use all the different ways you can use the account. The only bad thing is how to put money into the account. Having to take money out of another account to have to go into a store to pay to put money into my Charlie account. But I really like my Charlie account.

Charlie is very efficient at posting…
Charlie is very efficient at posting direct deposits and also their customer service support line is very friendly and very helpful each time I phone them. My debit card works wonderfully wherever I go.
However one thing that I found was discouraging to me was that I went in to a Walgreens to put money on my card I needed to do a transaction and I didn't have enough funds but I just needed to put a very small amount of money in and it was like $10. Then when I put my debit card in to add the money to it they charged me like 7 or $8 more and luckily I had the cash on me because I had to pay that to load money on my card and I did not appreciate that at all because that means if I just want to add a little bit it's going to cost me more than the deposit so I'm I need to confirm with the Charlie people how that works. Also to get money out of an ATM you are charged as well and they're pretty healthy charges so I'm a bit discouraged about that
