A baffling set of options on the phone system.
Rather than wait for my call to be picked up from the queue,I received a callback once my call had reached "the front". That took one hour.
I asked about the progress of my referral for heart failure (of a family member). The GP had authorised the request within a day, but now the request was with the "admin team" to work on. It has been with them one week so far. No timeline could be given.
Previously, rather than diagnose the heart failure, the GP had guessed the root cause (incorrectly, as Meniere's disease) by looking at a box on old medication and taking blood pressure.
Unconvinced, I took the patient to the private hospital across town; had some tests and was diagnosed with heart failure.NOT Meniere's.
This company runs 4 practices around Basingstoke, so patients are "captive", unable to travel somewhere better.
If you want a non-urgent appointment, you need to wait 3 weeks.
If you want an urgent appointment, none are available.
It has been like this for years.
