Be careful with the very highest rates
The highest rates are often new customer specials
which are offered by small banks and credit unions.
And for them, a lot of the information you will need,
is not readily available. You will have to decide on the basis of your own experience. My first experience
with opening a CD at one of these, went well.
My second and last experience ended after I
submitted all my application information and they
failed to act on it because they were too busy.
In other words, there is risk with going after
the highest available CD rates.
