Castle Trust Bank was launched as 'Castle Trust' in October 2012, and in June 2020 we became Castle Trust Bank – a fully authorised UK bank. We’ve offered fixed-term, fixed rate savings accounts to existing customers since the end of 2020, and launched online savings accounts to new customers in August 2021. Eligible deposits with Castle Trust Bank are protected up to a total of £120,000 by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme, the UK’s deposit guarantee scheme. We are also a provider of specialist buy-to-let, and property development mortgages.

Efficient admin but exceedingly poor interim interest rate

I had applied to transfer my maturing Castle Trust ISA to Virgin Money but this was delayed by Virgin and I ended up reinvesting in a new Castle trust ISA.
Transfer efficiently handle by Castle Trust but I am very disappointed in the 0.1% p.a. interest rate in the Castle Trust Maturity Holding Account during the 4 day delay.

Following the reply from Castle Trust I looked at the terms of their current fixed terms ISA which onclude the following in the section on the Maturity Holding Accounts: '
What is the interest rate?
The interest rate is variable and may change during the life of the product. Please refer to the latest Summary Box at "link" for available interest rates on Maturity Holding Accounts. '

I have looked at the Summary Box for current ISAs and there is no interest rate on Maturity Holding Accounts included.

We're sorry that you are disappointed with our Maturity Holding Account rate. This account is designed as a temporary account to hold funds whilst awaiting an instruction to reinvest (if no instruction to do so is received before the account matures), or whilst awaiting a request to transfer away to another provider. We're unable to extend the Fixed Rate that was payable beyond the maturity date. We're pleased that we were able to reinvest your savings quickly once you decided not to transfer to Virgin Money.

Not the clearest website

It is very difficult navigating your website and folloiwng a clear path to establish an account. I have done this many times in the past and still find it unintuitive.

Pleasant experience

Offer better rate compared to other providers. Staff are very helpful in explaining and resolving issues. Definitely would recommend if continues to offer good rates

Poor Customer Service experience

I initially had problems transferring £20k into the account for the '25 to '26 tax year, I tried again with £1 which worked successfully, however when I then tried to transfer the remainder it was delayed and was then transferred into the '26 to '27 tax year. Your customer services told me there was nothing they could do even though HMRC provides mechanisms to "repair" ISAs. I will now have to pay tax on the interest from a lump sum payment which will have to go into an ordinary savings account.

The Welcome Email, sent once the account is opened, contains all the details on how to deposit into the new account.

We also updated our website and our IVR telephony messaging to set expectations regarding the deadline for funds to be received for inclusion in the 2025/2026 tax year.

Extremely smooth on-line process

The whole on-line process from application to initial funding and transfer of an existing ISA went through smoothly and quickly. I rang Castle Trust with a query regarding the interest rate on my ISA. I quickly got through to a helpful member of staff who answered my query clearly and professionally

Its a simple 1 year fixed isa

Its a simple 1 year fixed isa. Whats to muck up?. I wont look at it again till the end date.The set up was easy and the transfer problem free, so all good on that end.yeah five stars, keep it up 🫡
