So did they fix my bike yes but!!

So did they fix my bike yes? However left paint residue on the hanger so rear axle would not go through. Had to remove some paint that then damaged the new paint. Also double charged me on my card which I think was because I disputed £48 to remove brake calipers. This charge was made after I dropped off the frame. They are difficult to get hold of on the phone and the whole experience just left a bad taste. I have no doubt the double charge was due to me complaining and was a nice little F You from CBR. Shame they need to lift their game.

Poor repair

Was recommended CBR to rectify damage to my carbon road bike.
Reception great and very informative however quality of workmanship and finish poor. When I collected the frame it had further issue which were not there when it went in.
Not great communication or very accommodating from management level.
No refund, no apology after numerous emails.
Had to have the frame repaired and completely re sprayed professionally elsewhere.

I badly damaged my Carbon Pinarello…

I badly damaged my Carbon Pinarello F4:13 racing cycle in an accident in my garage at home. The crossbar was badly broken. Carbon Bike Repair in Leatherhead KT227SU took on the repair made more difficult by matching the carbon weave in a very visible area of the bike. I could not have been more pleased the work to the carbon and restoration of Pinarello paint design was done to a fantastic standard a very professional job done with exemplary service. The bike now looks like new. I would certainly recommend their work to anyone needing this type of work and will advise any friend of mine to use them who has a similar problem. Lovely helpful people who set a very high standard at a very good price. Don't scrap it let them repair it. Tim

Customer review: Paint restoration

contacted Carbon Bike Repair on the basis of their and other people’s YouTube videos. They seemed quite competent but that was not the case.
I send them my Colnago C60 frame for a paint restoration and frame health check.
My frame had been oversprayed by lacquer by another company resulting in bubbles in the lacquer and different faults. All of which I told CBR.

When I received the frame back from CBR it had several faults:
- several areas with bubbles in the clear coat
- Letters in the “Ernesto Colnago”-signature was no longer connected
- 90 grams heavier (just the frame). It was already heavier from the previous coating.
Regarding the frame health check I wrote them three times that I wanted a frame health check. When they send me the frame I asked about it, they said the frame was ok. But I didn’t get charged for it so I’m very unsure my frame was checked at all.

What did CBR reply to this?
First they ignored my complaints for several weeks.
When they finally replied they said the job was “well within” 98% of factory standard.
Added weight is not something they care about or guarantee.
And they won’t do anything and advised me to send it to Colnago for a complete sanding and respray.

So it left me approx 1700 euros poorer and a heavier frame and more or less same faulty paint job I had before.

My advice is to avoid Carbon Bike Repair since their lack skill, quality control, integrity and poor customer service is too risky for expensive items like carbon frames.
They might be good at repairing frames but in my case frame restoration, it was money down the drain.

Exceptional Repair - Don't hesitate to use CBR.

After doing some searching online on where to get a carbon repair done on my bike I found Carbon Bike Repair.

Turns out my local bike shop use them also which reinforced my decision to use CBR.

The whole process took only 7 days from book in to completion. (This was for a carbon only repair to the chain stay)

I chose to deliver and collect my frame from them myself to save on time (280 mile round trip twice) and to cut out courier services to give myself some piece of mind.

Com's were superb. Thankyou Tanita, Martin & staff

Will definitely be recommending to others.

Poor post service and left additional damage to my bike

I left my bike with them last year, all was fine and clear on the drop-off. A little expensive but worth it IMO.

However given the option to collect or have the bike shipped to me I took the latter option (on the clear understanding that they would package it well and what would be taken apart).

On receiving my bike back, more parts had been taken apart than initially indicated; not a huge problem but not what was discussed and agreed - it was shipped back to me in a different state than what I had agreed with them. I also had a mech hanger ripped off the back from poor packaging and a sheered screw. On contacting them (there was new and additional scuffs/damage to the bike from a flailing hanger and chain) they sent me a replacement hanger and screw but took no responsibility as they "have no control once the box leaves CBR".

The chain WAS damaged as well (I checked subsequently) but they stated "We will not be replacing the chain as it is unlikely to have been that damaged" - even though I stated it likely was and subsequently confirmed that it was. Equally - the problem was also somehow mine for not taking insurance...that they didn't offer me. They were quick to point out that they "do all the packing and shipping and transport damage happens very rarely, hence we do offer an insurance option for this reason". Which again, they did not offer.

So all in all a bit of a wasted experience; a broken chain they refused to replace because of shipping issues that they refused to take ANY responsibility for, somehting increasingly prevalent across current UK society. Finger pointing at me for not taking out insurance - which was not only NOT offered but was only needed as the bike was loosely packaged and bouncing around inside a cardboard box.

The primary damage WAS fixed however there are other, albeit smaller, areas of damage now present.

They may well do a good repair service, but do not, if working with them, get your bike shipped back to you. Equally, inspect it on site thoroughly and do not expect them to take any responsibility for anything.

I would provide 2 stars as a review, but the response was so shamelessly finger-pointing whilst taking absolutely no responsibility for their poor effort to package alongside the creation of additional damage and work/cost for me, that the 1 star reflects that I would never deal with this outfit again.
