Unprofessional from start to finish.
Made an appointment to view a car 5 days in advance at Watford branch.
It was like a conveyor belt, not personal at all, we were shown to a large room with many salesman seated with customers, was similar to a call centre. We were shown the car, it was filthy dirty, and covered in bird excrement. We were told their stock was parked in a field. They were attempting to sell a vehicle and presented it in that state.
Luckily my husband has mechanical knowledge and it was not running well at all.
We walked away and have now had 3 calls in 24 hours chasing the sale, even though we said we were not interested at the time. On the last call the salesman said “ thank you for calling car planet how can I help”. They had called me. DONT touch these people, go to a dealer that gives service and professionalism these people don’t deserve the business.
Such a good experience at Carplanet- Olivier looked after us and no question was ever too much for him, he went above and beyond to make sure my car was in perfect condition before i drove it home- the whole process from start to finish was perfect, would 100% recommend!
Very pleasing efficient experience with Hassan leading us through the test drive and purchase. My wife and I were really pleased, Hassan explained everything clearly and concisely. So happy with the new car and the trade in procedure was easy and very fair. Thank you all
This is an update on my 2 previous reviews. My journey with Car Planet has been a long and arduous process. I have had so many issues from the beginning until now, I could write a book on it. I am going to keep this review as short and simple so you don’t get bored of reading it.
1. Car was bought in Feb 26, we were given no record of service history, no report on their 150 point inspection, only told they had one key after the purchase was completed. A second key was promised but never delivered. V5 document was missing and couldn’t get road tax because it hadn’t been taxed for so long, I had to go to the post office for one.
2. After 8 weeks the car developed several faults, some major ones. There was an oil leak, awd malfunction, squeaking sound when applying brakes, gearbox jolting and making noise. The car was taken in for repair and was returned after 5 days partially repaired. The gearbox and brakes had not been repaired.
3. Within weeks the car developed further faults, this time we were on our way to the airport when an engine management light came on and the car started over revving. I managed to drive it to the airport but on our return the car failed to start and 12 different faults appeared on the dashboard. AA attended and carried out a temporary repair and advised that the control module which had suffered from heat damage must be replaced, the component carries heavy electrical load and can be a fire safety hazard if left. The car was taken again almost 3 weeks ago. After going back and forth I was finally told that all issues had been inspected, repaired and tested. No report was provided even though I asked for one several times. I agreed to collect the car but when I arrived at the Watford branch yesterday the car was not there, it was at the mega center. I was driven to the mega center in a car they have for sale. On the way there the driver complained that the clutch was loose, this is dangerous, why are they transporting customers in a faulty car. When we arrived I found the car was cosmetically damaged in two places. This time the brakes were replaced and a bracket to a sensor was replaced. Yet again they ignored the issue with the gear box. Ziyad told me that the jolting and noise is normal. I checked with Ford and an independent garage, both said that it is not normal. 2 of his colleagues agreed it is not normal and most likely needs a new gearbox. The control module was not replaced, Ziyad said they are happy with the temporary repair that AA made and have decided to go against AA’s report that states that further action is needed. A temporary repair is not a permanent fix, this is totally unacceptable.
4. The MOT is due in a couple of weeks, 2 of Car Planets employees advised that the car would fail MOT in its current state of disrepair.
5. They have had my car for 1 month in total, I have not been offered a courtesy car despite asking many times. Yesterday’s journey was almost 5 hours door to door plus the drive to Enfield and the waiting time in Watford and Enfield. They would not offer to book me a taxi, I was travelling with my young daughter in the scorching heat. I returned home by train at my own cost.
6. No one calls you back, 9 times out of 10 they don’t answer emails. Hold times are anything from 20 to 60 minutes and there’s a good chance you’ll be cut off after waiting so long.
7. I have rejected the car and have asked for a refund. Car Planet, no doubt you will read this, please do the right thing and issue a refund, the car is faulty and not fit for purpose.
8. On a positive note Zain and his 2 colleagues at the mega center were very helpful and tried their best to try and get me a courtesy car, but none were available.
I had a wonderful experience with Anisa from start to finish. She was kind, professional, patient and made the whole process feel so comfortable and straightforward. She took the time to explain everything clearly, answered all of my questions, and I never felt rushed.
What really stood out to me was how much she genuinely cared. When the original delivery driver fell through, Anisa continued to go above and beyond by personally delivering my car herself to make sure everything went smoothly. That level of dedication and customer service is rare and was so appreciated.
Thank you so much, Anisa, for making the experience of buying my first car such a positive one. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend you to anyone looking for a friendly, knowledgeable and supportive salesperson.
To be fair to the guys they are great at selling, mo was brilliant got the car sorted and picked up, we turned up at 9am and then left just after 12:30 waiting for the car to be handed over and cleaned before we could leave, I put down a £200 deposit for the car which should have been refunded, I have phoned multiple times getting fobed off every time, oh the finance company have not paid us yet, this was after a week of me having the car, they are still yet to refund me my money, expect a phone call Monday aging to get the is sorted or I will end up going to trading standers and small claims court.
If you want a no pressure old school double glazing sales pitch then go to car planet. The star of the show is the rac warranty, supa guard and the wheel kit.
The car is of no importance to the sales team. If you take out the extended warranty be careful what you sign for and read everything. We were given a three year warranty and then upgraded to a four year warranty in total it cost us £2100 but on reflection we decided a few days later to cancel it. All of a sudden, although we had it written down on their paperwork they said that we were only entitled to £1350 refund because they had given us the £750 as a good will gesture on the trade in price on our car. After about 15 hours over a week on the phone trying to get hold of someone to talk to and being given the runaround including being connected with another customer who had a grievance which was amusing in a funny sort of way but not very professional. We have accepted the £1350 and put it down to experience. I think the £750 is their commission and they’ve rigged it so whatever happens they don’t lose it. Just be careful they are very unprofessional and if you like hanging on the phone for hours on end and still not get anywhere then it’s the place for you.
We picked up our new car last Saturday, 2 days afterwards my wife was driving it and the clutch pedal dropped to the floor leaving her in a very dangerous position luckily nobody was hurt or affected.
I have to question the thoroughness of the claimed 150 checks they carry out…..!
There was damage in the car that was not specified to us even on the video tour also that I had to argue about when making out deal.
Turns out after paying for a garage to diagnose the defect (Car planet said they would reimburse) that the car needs a full clutch hydraulic system and flywheel and clutch kit to make the vehicle safe to drive…..!
Myself and my wife are constantly calling, waiting around an hour for an answer to be fobbed off with someone will get back to us.
I went into the chat and was assured someone would be in touch, nothing…!
Currently we have an undrivable dangerous car sat on our drive with no support whatsoever.
Next step for me is full refund and they can come and collect the car on a recovery truck.
I won’t even go into how long we waited around to collect the car despite having a booking but you will get the picture!
Avoid like the plague……!
You have been warned
Thanks to Mashrur in Support, Car Planet have now spoken to me in depth and taken action over my grievances with them. So if you do have issues and not getting anywhere with the After sales team ask for the support team or Trustpilot obviously gets results. :-)

Hi car planet after sales team.
Please can you confirm why no one has attempted to call me? My original post you responded asking me to email you, this i have now done twice to cara, aftersales and support. I have the delivery receipts for the emails and yet no one has still been in touch. I have also supplied your email reference number, the car reg and my contract details again. Yet still no response.
I would really appreciate a call back or better still the opportunity to come in a see you in person to discuss this matter.
Im in the area this Saturday so would be the perfect opportunity.
Please do let me know by return email
Absolute chaos! So disorganised, keys lost no one had a clue who was doing what, where cars were, it took six weeks for them to transfer ownership and send my logbook still waiting for my service book! Waited a good 2 1/2 hours to take delivery of the new car to then find out it wasn’t ready to go as a warning light was on, no updates. Nothing shocking.

Short summary: DID NOT HAVE MY DRIVER'S LICENSE RETURNED TO ME after my test drives despite me asking for it back. I got it back AFTER A WEEK of me repeatedly contacting them to arrange to have it posted to me (it takes me too long to travel there again). It was an extremely frustrating and stressful experience.
More detailed account of my negative experience:Firstly, at the consultation, I highlighted to the sales person of my concerns with regards to wet timing belts of the cars from the Stellantis group, as they require more upkeep and are more likely to fail. He told me that, all cars break down from time to time. I felt this was a very dismissive comment. When I explained a few times that I need to take a minute to think, he asked me, "if you don't mind me asking, what do you have to think about." I was considering paying a huge sum in cash for a car and I feel that I am allowed to take some time to consider things.
I felt that it was less of a consultation but that I was being pressured into making a decision. When I went on my test drives, the sales person was checking his phone on a few occasions, which I felt was unprofessional.
After my test drives, I requested for my licence to be returned, he said "I will in a bit, my manager has it." After the long sales pitch in which several more grand was added to the initial price, I felt pressured to decide. Suddenly the salesperson and his manager were sitting across from me and asking me for my reasoning, which made me feel quite uncomfortable. I explained that I needed time to think and forgot to ask for my license back for the third time.
Whilst on my long journey back home from the dealership, I realised the mistake and called them. It took many calls to eventually get to speak to the sales person I met with. After several promises that he will call me back in "5-10 minutes," to which he did not. I spoke to him late that day. He communicated to me he will post it to me (he already took my address during the sales pitch). I requested that he email me with confirmation once it has been put in the post. He agreed, and never emailed.
The next day, after calling many times again, I managed to speak with another representative. He had my license in hand and told me it has not been posted. Again I requested for a confirmation email. I never received an email.
I called again later that same day and spoke with a lady. She told me she will handle it and that she will contact me before the end of the day with information that me license has been sent. She did not contact me. So I called 15 minutes before closing time again. Out of sheer desperation, I asked the gentleman working at the call centre to help me as no one from Car Planet Barnet was sympathetic and supportive. He was the first person to be sympathetic of this situation and explained that he will take care of it.
On day 3, I finally received an email from one of the managers telling me that normally people return to pick up their licence but on this occasion they will post it. This certainly made me quite angry as I was told that my license was posted three days ago. He asked for my address again via email, even though they have it on the system and I had already said it many times to the representatives I spoke to on the phone.
What I was even more surprised by was that the manager told me that he will post my driver's license in 2 days time (why not immediately?). I eventually received my driver's license back 1 week after my visit to Car Planet Barnet.
This has been really difficult as I was unable to go see other cars and I no longer felt reassured to return to Car Planet to complete a purchase.
In the emails I received, it was repeated to me several times that "We are one of the UK's largest car supermarkets, stocking over 2,000 vehicles across our group and retailing in excess of 1,500 vehicles every month. Our team is committed to delivering the highest level of customer service, and we continuously support and develop our staff to ensure our customers receive the best possible experience." I was confused as to why there was the need to stress this to me. Surely, if what you state is true, I would not be having a week of continuously chasing you up to have my licence (which you forgot to give back to me) posted to me.
I understand Car Planet Barnet will reply to this review and explain that this issue has been resolved. It has been resolved because for 3 days, I contacted and called your branch repeatedly via phone and email. When I did get to speak to someone, I explained the situation, gave my address and asked kindly for support. I was met with very few sympathetic listeners who were willing to help me. Even then, it took a week to resolve this. I worry what may have been the case if I didn't chase up on this matter.

Sales process great, not too much pressure and lovely car bought, good P/ex and all done in one trip. Why 1 star? - as everything was done in a day and our p/ex had a private plate on, CarPlanet held a £150 retainer until the replacement V5C was supplied by DVLA - fair enough - DVLA unusually took over two weeks to do this, but as soon as it was received it was sent to CarPlanet, this was acknowledged on 24.05.26, here I am on 09.07.26 still chasing (almost daily) for our £150 refund to be processed. Wasted hours on hold, sent WhatsApp messages and emails regularly and just keep getting empty promises the payment will be forthcoming. Totally soured the purchase over something small that could have easily been avoided - shame!

The after-care team is absolutely atrocious. I’ve been trying to call them to resolve a problem all day and nobody is willing to call me or make the effort to resolve this problem.

Car planet is great at selling, terrible if they make a mistake or need any help after buying. Car planet miss sold me a car with an 8k mileage discrepancy (sold at 23k, MOT completed with them says 31k). Upon raising this with them over multiple forums (phone call, email, WhatsApp) and speaking to multiple members of their team with no real processes in place they have proceeded to ignore my follow up emails after saying I would hear back 3 days ago. Would not recommend, in fact would actively recommend you go elsewhere.
