Awful customer service

Hugely disappointing. We had booked our trip many weeks before, scheduling it to follow on from our visit to old Pompeii.

We were certainly ready for our wine tasting lunch.

We arrived at our pick up point ahead of time. The car arrived but there was 8 people waiting and only 6 spaces. So we were left standing, no apology and the words “back for you in 20 minutes”. 40 minutes later we were picked up.

On arrival there was no apology. The front of desk* asked if we had enjoyed our lunch. We explained that our pick up was very late, we just arrived and had therefore not had dinner. No worries she said !

After the short wine tour we were shown, last, to our seats on a beautiful terrace overlooking the bay and with great views of mt Vesuvius behind us.

The lunch and wine tasting started. Lovely wine and starter. Then followed the main course. Cold spaghetti and even colder meat balls. The meals were taken away. Hot meat balls returned together with a hot tomato sauce to dip the cold spaghetti in! The waiter was apologetic and poured us a little more wine.

The dessert was nice accompanied by a shot of dessert wine.

The wine was very nice but for a 2 hour stay 5 small taster wines plus dessert seemed a little frugal to say the least.

We decided to order a couple of wines and the lovely vinegar condiment (for dipping your bread in).

At the ordering desk the same member of staff* asked how our afternoon had been. We explained above. She just shrugged her shoulders. She wasn’t bothered.

We eagerly jumped into the shuttle bus. Our driver then proceeded to argue about where we were to be dropped off. We expected to be dropped off where we were picked up as per the promise on the booking form. Thankfully we won the argument.

So in summary yes high quality wine although shared with us too sparingly. But certainly not excellent customer service - it was woefully inadequate and spoiled our visit to Pompeii.
