Poor Service with Elitist Attitude

I struck a deer a few weeks ago and filed an insurance claim with Progressive Insurance. Progressive insurance recommended Caliber Collision of Murfreesboro, TN as one of their partner repair shops.
I took my vehicle to Caliber Collision on 10/07/2025 for a scheduled repair and/or estimate.
I arrived at the location and met the nice lady working the front desk. She had me fill out documentation for the repair. She then sent me outside with David (a technician) to view the damages to my vehicle.
David claims that my vehicle which was involved in a deer strike accident had “preexisting damage to the front bumper support”. I told him that I bought the vehicle with a clean title and there was no visible damage. He said that I would need to repair damage that he considered to be preexisting before he’d fix my vehicle. He said $2000 for the preexisting damage and there’s already a $2000 deductible.
I asked for a written estimate and he refused to give me one. He literally told me to go try a small, privately owned shop and gave 2 recommendations.
I’m very disappointed with Caliber Collision. IMO they have conflict of interests with Progressive Insurance and Copart.
Caliber Collision violated my consumer protection rights as I was sent to their shop by my insurance company.
I will file a consumer protection complaint and file a complaint with my local BBB to start!
Stay away from Caliber Collision service they will treat you like you’re a nuisance instead of a customer!

Needed BBB + ChatGPT to Keep Pressure on Caliber’s Bad Repairs

Thankful that I had ChatGPT to help me organize messages (saved a lot of time, let me respond in minutes with clear, thorough notes) and that the TDI, BBB, and AG were there to help keep pressure on. Without that support, I would have been buried in back-and-forth with the shop and insurer.

My vehicle was repaired here after a collision. Since their “completed” repair, I’ve had multiple issues: a recycled/damaged door was damaged/defective, uneven gaps, bent hinges and a plastic panel that was glued back instead of replaced. Their own technician even admitted they cannot make the repaired/recycled door match the original. I’ve already spent ~$2,000 at a Honda-certified shop to fix problems that only appeared after Caliber’s work.

Despite all this, the vehicle has still not been restored to pre-loss condition. My advice to others is to document everything and use every channel available; don’t assume this shop (or USAA) will make things right without constant pressure.

Awesome and the best there is in Lake Worth, Texas. Regular updates via phone and text letting me know the progress of the repairs. Everyone there is great including the manager, front desk staff, Derek and, of course, Christine. Just in dealing with my insurance company was a chore but Christine kept working with them like a pro. When the repairs were completed she went over every detail, even the small ones, up to and including the after care. She deserves a pay raise, a promotion, a day off with pay and a beer.

No cash repairs Insurance claims only

So today, I was at Caliber Collision on US19, I asked about getting a dent repaired in my 2005 Mustang. This is the reply I received. "We don't repair cars like this because we have tried in the past and have disappointed our clients. We do high volume insurance claims only."
WOW!

It was horrible from the day I drop my…

It was horrible from the day I drop my vehicle off. The estimator, Ted, tried to rush me to leave him my keys, he was very offish and clearly ignored my instructions on entering my vehicle and not to roll down the drivers side window.

Their job was to repair and paint a bumper. When the job was “completed” they called me to come pick up the vehicle. When I get there Ted greets me while I was pulling up. He walks me inside to sign some paperwork before I looked over the bumper. After signing the paperwork (the insurance check) I walked back outside to examine the bumper…. Fresh paint, and it’s looking good.

As I opened the passenger door to reach over to open the driver’s side door, I walked around to the driver’s side door and noticed my driver side window was damn near hanging on a thread and the door panel was slightly hanging loose too off it’s hinge. I immediately got upset! Then, as I turn the headlights on to check to make sure all the lights were working, none of the bumper lights were operable!

I instantly turned to Ted and expressed my disappointment! Like how do you call a customer to come get their vehicle without doing a “Quality Control Check” to make sure the job is done correctly? Then for them to dismantle my window and leave the car outside with the window out of the hinge, looking like a car thief flexed the window open was totally incompetent! That’s not how I dropped my car off!

My vehicle is a 1995 Camero z28 and it’s very clean, garage kept, well maintained and cared for. It never been in the rain.

So I demanded to who and why did someone roll down my window when I left instructions with Ted to Not Roll Down the Drivers side window! Especially, since they’re fixing the bumper. There is no reason to be rolling down any windows!!

So I took my vehicle that day on a Wednesday, to return the following Monday to speak with the GM regarding the lights and window. As I greeted the GM, he was on the phone so I waited. When he was done with his called, he approached me and asked, “what seems to be the problem?” I indicated to him that my car was here a few days ago for a bumper repair and the light’s aren’t on and my window wasn’t in this condition when I bought the car here. He stated, “they’ll fix the lights but the hell with my window!” Oh, No! I said. And he and I got into a heated exchange of words and he called the police on me. Some nerve!
Spoke with the police and they gave me some information on civil action so I immediately filed a suit because they were paid the moment I signed those papers before I looked my car over. Live and learn.

I would Not Recommend going there. I was even told by a friend that they seen my car flying across Meadow bridge earlier that morning. But I’m like, no my car is in the shop!? Hmmmm, now I know why Ted said, “this car is fast! Do you take it to the track?” I bet that’s when that window got rolled down 🤨

Very unprofessional personnel and management. It’s definitely not the Mikes auto shop I grew up knowing and dealing with. Its Caliber Collision 💥 and surely they’ll wreck your car 🚗 Ten thumbs down 👎🏾

Replaced rear bumper on car

Replaced rear bumper on car. Paint match was ok.
However, warning sensors on bumper to side mirrors of oncoming traffic worked out of the shop. Couple days later it stopped. Explained the problem with Caliber. They wanted an extra $400 to calibrate the sensors to the mirror. WTF? You’d think that for $1400 they would get this right. Caliber ripped me off. Never again.

A broken bumper and un-connected…

A broken bumper and un-connected exhaust system is taking at least two weeks to get resolved. The car is a 2024 so they are not up against an issue with parts, IMO.
I cannot get a call back from the representative; out to lunch, can't find him/her. "I left a note on their desk and they will call you back". That may have happened ONCE in the last two weeks as I try to figure out when I can return my rental.
Caliber is a huge repair company and there is only ONE person that can give me information on the repair status? There is the fixing of the issue and then customer service. I hope at least one of those items is well above average when this is all said and done.

Ben was great

I had a great experience working with Ben at Caliber Collision. My employee was in an accident, I worked with Ben to get the car from the tow yard and over to his shop. He communicated with me through the process and all charges. The vehicle was totaled by the insurance, I was able to work with Ben to allow access to have the dashcam removed and the contents of the vehicle collected before the insurance picked up the car. Sucks that my car was totaled but working with Ben made it less painful.

Definitely bad

Definitely bad! My truck was struck by another car and the insurance handling the matter recommended Caliper. Got my truck back with a ton of scratches and damage to the rear view mirror on the opposite side of the collision. They tried to buff out all the damage. Honestly seems like some one decided to take the truck on a joy ride in the woods. AVIOD this place!!

Caliber Collision Henderson, Co

I had my truck repaired after I was in a collision. Over a year later, I thought there might be a problem related to the accident. I took my truck into them and they diagnosed the true reason for the problem. They didn't charge me a dime for the diagnosis. Mike and the team at Caliber Collision on 104th and Havana are just great to deal with.

Very impressed with Caliber Collision in Newnan, GA

I was impressed with this company in Newnan, GA. They helped my mom get her side view mirror replaced. She is in her 80's and came to them needing help. They were polite, respectful and took care of her issue. Once the part arrived they installed it for her quickly while she waited. If I ever need anything done with my vehicle I will be bringing it here!

Not recommended for quality or timely work

My new 2024 Nissan Z was hit by a semi in the first week of Sept 2024. Instead of making this a book, I'll transcribe it into a list. I'll also note that my car was wrapped since it plays a part. The front bumper, driver headlight, fender, wheel, and side mirror had to be replaced, and the door was repaired.
I got the car back in the middle of November, without a front bumper emblem, and having to go there to recover a carbon fiber cover I had on the side mirror.

In December, Caliber was paid a portion for the wrap.
While awaiting that check, around April, when the weather warmed up a bit, I used some leftover wrap and wrapped the new fender and quarter panel. I couldn't rewrap the door because the entire edge of clearcoat was jagged, a large run was hanging on the bottom of the door, and there were clumps of clearcoat and excess clearcoat on the door. So, I took it back to the shop for them to fix these issues.

They broke off the hanging clump and applied some touchup, without edging or blending that you could almost see through, and buffed a spot where a clump of dried clearcoat came out of their gun, that I already sanded smooth and just had to be buffed. After picking up my car two weeks later(The new wheel had to be replaced and repainted bc Nissan changed the color), the wrap I precut for the door was gone, so I couldn't even wrap the door. Leaving the car with them longer than a day for these things wasn't mentioned either until I got there that day. They did provide a rental and covered that cost.

After that, I ended up having to order a new roll of wrap out of pocket. On account of all this taking them so long, due to lack of communication and incorrect information over months regarding the new rim, and of course, the portion of the wrap that was stolen while my car was with them and money they owed me that I still hadn't received.
Fast forwarding to July 2025, after rewrapping the rest of the car with the new roll, I finally got to the last main piece to rewrap and finally just received the money they had been paid and owed me(Not including cost caused by wrap being stolen as I was even willing to overlook it with the amount for the full roll being reimbursed at that point), and a replacement front bumper emblem I had picked up a couple of weeks before this.
Then I removed the older wrap I had put on the bumper around April, and nearly all of the paint came off with the wrap, starting with the inner lips of the wheel wells, where it appeared there was no clearcoat, which is what keeps wrap from fusing with the paint. The clearcoat and paint were extremely thin, almost as if they did one quick coat without any proper paint prep and called it done. All of it that came off the bumper, came off with ease and much that didn't come off is loosely sitting on the bumper, attached to the few areas in which the paint and primer had stuck and didn't come off.

So, now, at the end of July, I'll have to use the money that took them so many months to finally pay me to have my bumper repainted. Needless to say, I am not bothering to even have them to fix this.

I don't trust them to do it right, so I'm taking it to Nissan. In the future, I can't recommend Caliber to anyone unless they aren't concerned about timeframe, communication, or quality.

Unfortunately, Progressive doesn't work with Nissan, and Nissan doesn't work with Progressive because they don't ensure quality work. I can now see exactly why that is. I worked in a collision shop for years, and this is unacceptable of any collision shop. Even keeping emblems with the car is basic Day 1 knowledge, and they didn't even do that.

My husband and I have been using Caliber Collision for all our repairs on our 2013 Legacy Suburu. Gabby and the whole team were always so kind and helpful! I recently lost my husband in December and he did everything for me❣️. I had a brake light out and was at a loss! Stopped in at Caliber and let them know Dave had passed and I had called the day before and was told to bring in the brake light bulbs and they would install! They were true to their word and I now have brake lights 😘
Thank You Caliber Collision
