Buysubscriptions handed Good Food over…

Buysubscriptions handed Good Food over to Our Media Shop some time ago.
I had no notification of this for the 2 subscriptions I have.
Also, payments shouldn't be taken without notification. They rely on people not realising when and amout of payments.
I am cancelling my direct debit!

The cancellation process is a SCAM!

The subscription cancellation process is a complete scam.
You are advised that you can cancel by linking your subscription to your account however, after linking and being shown a confirmation screen, no subscription is shown on your subs page meaning you cant cancel.
Another method they state is by using the contact form by pressing the help button at the bottom right of there contact page however they use that part of they website for advertisements so clicking this takes you away from the site.
I have sent several emails and haven't had any reply. My next step is to make a claim through my credit card company but I want to warn anyone else away from this scam of a company. They need reporting to trading standards.

Forget subscription renewal

Over the phone renewal was discourteous and unhelpful, unable to use offer code and increasingly dissatisfied with the renewal process which I've been doing now for over 20 years. Staff training on telephone manner and communication should be prioritised. As a paying customer this is not good enough.

Awful customer service 😢 I subscribed…

Awful customer service 😢 I subscribed to radio times through buysubscritptions mid October, and as yet, have not received one copy. I eventually got through to customer service who promised this would be quickly sorted, but still nothing.
So do yourself a favour, and save your money by not subscribing, and then getting ripped off, as I have for £50

Disappointing service yet again

I’ve been using buy subscribtions for many years now. Gift subscriptions for family and one for myself. However it’s getting costly. So when one came to an end I paused. Soon an offer sent with a free gift if subscription taken out. After thinking it through I signed up again. Took screen shots as have had a free gift subscription before only to be told the free gift wasn’t eligible somehow. Same thing happened, I asked after the gift, they asked what gift ? I provided the screen shots and was told I wasn’t eligible as I failed to enter the correct code..there was no code. It was a sign up and that it’s. This discussion went on for a couple of days and I was told to wait while investigating. By then the payment had been taken, then I hear - no I entered the wrong code so not eligible and guess what, the free gift has now disappeared, no where to be seen. I telephoned and asked to cancel and a refund, I was told the offer is there but she couldn’t find a code for me either. So after all this. I’ve cancelled. When my other two subscriptions expire I will not be renewing either. Offers with free gifts are nice, nice for existing users as well as newbies but to apply and be rejected each time is a con. They had me for around ten years but my loyalty means nothing. So I’ll shop with my feet and walk to the newsagent.

Gardeners world magazine one time order

Ordered gardeners world magazine (May 2025) to get 2 for 1 garden entry. Took ages to come and has now arrived without the 2 for 1 entry card or book. Would like a refund or another copy sending but have no response when trying to contact the company.

Customer service is shocking

Customer service is shocking. Order cancelled with no reason and responses via email are abysmal, taking days to reply from different representatives with different answers. This was supposed to be a Father’s Day gift, so I am very disappointed.

Incorrect Copy of Gardener’s World …

I ordered a back copy of April 25 Gardener’s World. I’ve been sent March 25. I phoned to follow up & was advised to send a form by email and I'd then be asked to forward my email invoice. I’ve completed and submitted the form 3 times & have received no reply or the April copy. I’m not quite sure what to do other than contact my bank.

Subscription cancelled but money still taken

Cancelled a subscription with plenty of notice before renewal and yet the money was still taken from my bank account. Have tried contacting the company several times to request a refund with no response. Terrible service from this company! Would appreciate a response from their team on when I can expect a refund!

BBC Gardeners world

Online subscription made in March for 6 issues BBC Gardener’s World including 2for1 gardens offer in May magazine for £12…excellent value. Confirmation email received with reference number stating payment had gone through.
However my magazine never arrived mid April. I sent email…no response. I contacted them and gave them my reference number which confirmed my subscription had gone through. Agent said they had cancelled my subscription and refunded my account for no logical reason and refused to honour my agreed subscription saying this happens from time to time. Agent said she would escalate to senior person who would contact me…which of course never happened. Not impressed…but at least I was still able to purchase the May magazine from the shop.

Awful service

Awful service. Received email confirmation of subscription after placing an order - confirmed payment details, how much, when first issue due etc. No magazines arrived after the due date. Apparently I should have realised that the email confirmation was not really a confirmation and there should have been another one after this !! Nothing in the first email to state this. Contacted customer service who just said sorry. It was including a special edition magazine, which I cant get hold of now, and the offer is no longer available. Promised they’d look in to it and come back to me after 24 hrs, but guess what, after a week I’m still waiting….

Subscription taken out early April, no subscription number and no deliveries - and I can't contact them to cancel because I don't have a subscription number and will have to cancel the DD. Assuming they've set that up, of course.

Disgusting behaviour

Disgusting behaviour towards loyal customers, my direct debit has risen from £39.99 6 monthly to £128.70 for 6 months without notification ( I have checked) yes I would expect an increase but not that amount, its a joke and incredibly bad customer service not to at least offer a reduced amount. Bye bye radio times after all these years of loyalty

Never received anything or had any response.

Signed up for the BBC history Magazine on the 15th Feb, have never received an issue. Have emailed them 2/3 times and never had a response. Really poor. Do I contact the BBC!?

Dont be fooled by what the offer.

I had a subscription with this company a few years ago but canceled after too many issues had not been posted out and my suscription price was increased and I was not informed (which is unlawful) I have now tried this company out again, thinking they must of improved. EVEN WORSE!! Appalling company. advertises deals on subscriptions as soon as they get your bank details increases suscription payments or do not deliver on promised subscription. Avoid these cowboys, If it looks to good to be true . Then it probably is. Added note. I have this morning spoken to an advisor and apparently the issue of the missing publication for April had not been updated on my account. I have been informed that there will be no breaks in the delivery schedule for the upcoming publications.

Not easy to navigate checking subscription if order number not recognised…

The purchase process is straightforward and the deals were excellent. I purchased Gardeners World for my mum as a gift obviously did not want to continue. I've gone online to check I won't be recharged and says my order number is invalid but I can't seem to confirm The cancel subscription is activated. The site is purchase friendly but not easy to check cancellation of subscription after six issues. Can anyone help.

Utterly appalling

Utterly appalling. Bought a gift subscription for my very elderly mother - I’ve never received any confirmation and the purchase isn’t showing in my account. They refuse to answer any emails, they do not answer any phone calls - in fact it’s impossible to get through on the phone at all as none of the option buttons work. I’ll have to cancel through my bank as there’s absolutely zero communication. Very very disappointing.

Subscription

I phoned and cancelled all subscriptions as the website didn’t display all of the subscriptions I had. Just got another delivery of a magazine I cancelled and I have been charged for another 6 months worth. I emailed them to explain and they said my subscription would end in August. Not good enough and I wouldn’t ever return to subscribe.

I shall not be using this service again…

I shall not be using this service again in a hurry. I haven't subscribed to any magazine's before and saw the offer of £5 for 5 months. I assumed this was an introductory offer to let you decide whether you wanted the magazine on a regular basis. I now realise it's just a way to entice you in for the year. Of course they don't highlight the fact you are still expected to take the following 6 months and they don't warn you when they take the subsequent renewal of £22.50 or give you a chance to cancel before this. I think a much clearer explanation of your offers should be put in place for those of us who are easily confused!
However, I am thoroughly enjoying my Olive magazine - so nothing against them. Just a more honest and open approach would be appreciated. I have now cancelled this subscription - again not particularly straight forward.
