BE WARNED :
I am in receipt of Buy Me a Coffee’s (BMAC) refusal to delete my data. They are citing a "Permanent Ban"—triggered by their own technical verification failures—as a legal justification to retain my PII (Personally Identifiable Information) indefinitely under GDPR Article 17.
Please be advised of the following:
Jurisdictional Misalignment: I am a Canadian citizen and business entity. BMAC’s reliance on European GDPR provisions to override my rights under PIPEDA (Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act) is legally insufficient.
Absence of Legal Basis for Retention: As all funds have been refunded and no "fraud" has occurred, there is no "legal claim" or "regulatory requirement" that justifies the continued retention of my data following my formal revocation of consent.
Process Manipulation: Labeling a failed "testing phase" as a "ToS violation" specifically to trigger a "No Deletion" policy is a deceptive business practice.
As the underlying service provider for this Express account, Stripe is now formally notified that I am exercising my Right of Access and Erasure. I demand that Stripe—as the data controller in this financial pipeline—manually sever the connection and purge all Companyand Personal data from the Express sub-account.
Failure to resolve this will result in a formal complaint to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (OPC) regarding Stripe’s failure to oversee its "Express" affiliates' data retention practices.

Please Look at the negative reviews for this company I can confirm that several if not all negative reviews are warrented and can be MAPPED directly to this issue. I choose this service because it said it would be able to send the money to my country, but I've been waiting for more than a month and although my account shows the money was sent, I have not received it in my bank account. I tried contacting support and it takes forever for them to answer and when they did, they had me going through many loops for nothing. So far no one seem to be able to help me.
if you are thinking about using this service: DON'T! You'll never see that money.

Changing country and currency due to relocation can be a nightmare with some platforms. Most respond with "delete and open a new one" so you lose everything. With Buy Me A Coffee, I found their support really helpful and responsive. I did have to recreate the Stripe Express account but the rest remained the same and was simple to update.

I'm adding an additional review. If you look at the unhappy reviews, you see Buy Me a Coffee responding, looking like they are taking care of the problem. They emailed me asking for my email address associated with the account and once again, never got back to me when I responded. I wish they would resolve it because suspending someone's account, refunding donations meant for me, when I haven't violated any policy is unfair.
If you see a message from them below asking for my email address, know this: I’ve given it to them five times.
They do that so they can say I didn’t respond and will request that Trustpilot take the review down. I’ve responded

I commissioned an artist to make emotes for my Twitch community, to which I never received. They were adamant about me paying them through Buy Me a Coffee over Paypal and VGen. I had hired them before, so I didn't think anything of it at the time.
However, they proceeded to only give two updates and then dropped off the face of the earth. Over three months, they left me on read and never returned any messages. I brought it up to Buy Me a Coffee, who told me they would "investigate." One month later, the one person I made contact with told me they "had nothing to do" with the investigations team. Here we are SIX MONTHS later and they're only NOW reaching out to the artist after I sent a very angry follow up email.
Doing a bank back charge was no good because it had been too long. So this scammer's long made off with my money ($200+), and Buy Me a Coffee couldn't have cared less til I cussed them out. Take this as a warning. If an "artist" or anyone is pushing for payment through this site, there's a reason for that, and it's nothing good.

I am a developer and my experience with BuyMeACoffee has been horrible. After a full week, support never replied to my email. I also tried reaching out via chat, and after several days, I still received no response. The lack of support is unacceptable.
On top of that, their fees are significantly higher compared to other platforms for receiving donations. The API for membership integration is no longer maintained, and while they provide some webhooks, they are unreliable.
The concept of the service is good, but the final outcome is a disaster.
Overall, this service is not trustworthy, and I cannot recommend BuyMeACoffee to anyone looking for a reliable platform.

I'm reporting this company to the FTC for possible fraud. They claim they have to "review" your request to withdraw your funds AFTER you install their plugin and receive a supporter. In which, they take their dear sweet time (I'm still waiting) to release your funds, and are unresponsive to messages. I received a $15 contribution from a follower for helping them, Buy Me a Coffee immediately took their "cut" leaving me to have to fight and beg for a $13.44 balance.

I’ve been with this company for good number years I always had the payments made very quickly. I’ve asked them to verify my method of payment to me. No reply. I am sick third day now I still wrote to them. No reply and it’s very basic question and very simple to answer the customer service is not good and I’ve been with these people for at least seven or eight years. I am starting to look for somebody else with similar product.

A scam, they said 7 days to refund my balance to supporters but 14 days has passed but nothing, even a response. Really disappointed with this platform! Stay away from them!! They will suspend your account and hold your money for no reasonable reason. Just a silence forever, waste of time, effort, and money 😡😡😡
Updated 01/27/2026: the refunds are all back to my supporters already, so I changed the rating. Still sad that my account is suspended but if this is final decision, I will have way but to accept

This is the perfect platform for my small gift program which supports cats on a Greek island. Very user friendly (even for a non-techie!) and I love that I can post updates and email to my supporters all at once. And the monthly membership function is perfect. Finally, customer support is very responsive. All in all a great experience over the last 3 years!

After trying for over half an hour to cancel this subscription it was a total waste of time it seems obvious that you don't want it cancelled so you can keep take the money it could be made much easier to be slbe to cancel but every time I get to the last screen it freezes. Sorry one big con hopefully the bank can help.
