What a great way to welcome in the weekend!!

While aimlessly scrolling through Instagram (as you do), I stumbled across an ad for Bread & Crust. The pastries looked great, too good, actually, so I thought I’d give it a try. I placed an order on Friday morning for delivery this Sunday.

On Saturday, I got an email asking if I had any special delivery instructions and confirming delivery for the following weekend. Slightly confused, I replied straight away to say I was expecting it this Sunday and included the delivery info. No reply. No confirmation. Just silence.

Fast forward to today delivery day and instead of fresh pastries, I got an email saying they’d run out of pastries and had issued a refund… with a generous 10% discount on my next order (because that totally makes up for it).

The pastries were the only reason I bothered ordering. The lack of communication, mixed messaging, and poor planning made it worse. If you’re going to flood Instagram with tempting photos, at least make sure you can deliver literally. Stock issues happen, but the radio silence and failure to offer an alternative is just bad service.

Safe to say, I won’t be a returning customer.

Today I received my first order from butter and crust. I was really looking forward to some of the items as we had friends round for breakfast but unfortunately the sourdough didn’t come in the bag and nor did the pain au chocolats I ordered. Even more surprisingly I had left deliver instructions for these goods to be placed inside the door which was open but instead they were just left on the front porch where anyone could pick them up.

Great to have breakfast delivered on a day like today when it rains so much. The paper bag was put in a plastic bag to ensure the goods were dry upon arrival and an ice pack placed with the salmon in an ice bag. I put the pastries in the air fryer for a couple of minutes and they are always very good. I freeze the bread and it is always tasty when I toast it later on.
I have tried the savoury pastries and the box of 4 pastries for Wimbledon and everything was great.

Don’t bother unless you want croissants for lunch not breakfast. They don’t seem able to reliably meet a pre 9am delivery (50% of our deliveries have been late), at a predicted delivery time of 10.23 this morning they have ruined a special family breakfast and are dumping us with a load of croissant that we don’t have any need for. Customer service response indifferent at best. It’s a shame - lovely when they do get here but what’s the point?

Far Less than average.
I’ve tested several goods : croissants, pains au chocolat and bread : there are no even better than Tesco or M&S, which is bad though.
As for butter and salmon, there are ok, nothing more.
I would not recommend butter&crust.

Sorry gang - I really wanted this to work. Delivery of my first order came at 10.15am - nearly 4 hours after dispatch. Don’t promise 9am on your homepage then deliver breakfast at lunchtime. The paper bag was wet. Croissants very average.

My sons are in love with all the fresh pain au chocolat and cinnamon brioche arriving realty morning on our front door ! Thank you very much for this delicious pastries and bread… will recommend it to anyone !

I LOVE Butter & Crust.
I have been with them since the very beginning..and the quality has always been top notch!! I love the bread and get it every single week...but I also love their bagels (and as a NewYorker that is saying a lot!) The butter and the apple juice are also fantastic! I haven't ventured beyond that, but apparently since I started the have added lots of new things.
I must admit, in the beginning there were some growing pains with deliveries...but those have long since been ironed out! I couldn't be happier with this delightful service.
