Bunk campers review.
Excessive wait for van and poor hand over.

We arrived at 1.45 to pick up our van,
We had to wait until 4pm before a rep was free.
The rep showed us around our van. I immediately pointed out this was not the van that was advertised as It was a 6 berth. It had a double bed and an elevated bed above in the back and a pop up roof to allow for 2 more people.
We ordered a van for only 2 people with only 1 bed.
Unfortunately he continued to waste our time for the next 20 minutes as he explained all the various controls.
I said I would not accept the van unless he removed the 2nd bed which was suspended above the lower bed.
There was barely 2 foot between the lower and upper beds leaving hardly any head room. There were additionally 2 ladders which weren't required.
He said there was nowhere to store the surplus bed so we had to keep it and the ladders.
Eventually I showed him a picture of the van we booked which clearly showed only one bed.
He went to see his manager and returned a few minutes later. He admitted he had shown us the wrong van and then drove away the wrong van and returned with the correct van. He had wasted 30 valuable minutes of our holiday. Additionally the correct van wasn't ready as it needed to be refuelled.
To make matters worse, he gave us the keys to the correct van without explaining any of the controls which turned out to be completely different to the first van.
We couldn't work out how to turn the fridge on so contacted the helpline. They had to do some research but came back with an answer. It took 3 hours to resolve.
Unfortunately we couldn't work out how the hot water or heating controls worked, but didn't want to waste more valuable time contacting the helpline so survived the holiday with no hot water for showers and no heating.
We used a kettle for hot water and had a basin wash rather than a shower, but this was very unsatisfactory.
But that's not all….
When we came to wash up on the first morning we discovered there was no equipment. We were missing a dish cloth, tea towel, toilet rolls, dustpan and brush.
Also the cereal bowls were pasta dishes big enough for 5 cereal portions. They were useless as cereal bowls.
The helpline said we could purchase anything missing and claim a refund.
I asked BC for an inventory and sure enough, we were missing the entire cleaning kit.
This was another oversight from the rep who gave us the van.
The van was great for our holiday and we had a fantastic holiday. It's just a shame the member of staff who showed us our van wasn't more vigilant when the van was allocated to us.
We didn't leave until after 5pm and 3 hours feels a very long time to wait for your van.

The response below by Bunk Campers appears to refer to our subsequent booking on 23rd September when
We arrived at 1.00 after the earlier delay in April. And were on our way by 3pm. The review date is 22/4/25 but they have obviously looked at the data on our second booking in September. There was a much better
handover for the September holiday and we made sure everything was explained to us. Deepak was extremely helpful.

We had an amazing and an unforgettable experience, traveling all around Kerry.
I need to thanks Bunk Campers for giving me the chance to rent one of their campervan.
Also, the 2 people at the reception very friendly and full of answers to all of our questions.

I had my own car rental station in Germany with 80 cars and trucks and I know this business since 1991. When I am satisfied that means a lot. And I was/am very satisfied. Everything went great.

This is the 3rd time I’ve been asked for a Trust Pilot review for the same trip!

I have mixed feelings about our experience with Bunk Campers that I will detail here... 

First, the positive: The employees that we dealt with were kind and helpful and provided a good demonstration. The van itself was great and everything worked. They allowed us to be an hour later for drop-off (although I think 10am drop off is too early and 2pm pick up is too late considering the time it takes). 

However, there are a number of negatives that I felt really let the whole experience down and for the price we are paying for rental just does not seem acceptable. For a start, the pick up location in Dublin is woeful in a very busy industrial site, there was a steady stream of skip trucks trundling through when we were trying to unpack our car into the campervan; it's not really feasible to park your car beside or very near to the campervan for this. The campervan was not really clean and the sheets provided were quite old and worn - I should have brought my own. On pick up I did notice a musty smell and discovered when we were cleaning for drop off that this was coming from mould growing underneath the middle mattress section and dread to think we slept on that.

I think I had been expecting more when heading off on our campervan adventure, it just felt like an operation running on a shoestring budget but we had a good holiday.

The experience was incredible and the assurance about the personal was also great

Bunk made it easy for me a first timer to experience the camper van holiday, really enjoyed it and now have the bug to rent again or purchase

New vans great staff my only gripe is people arriving to pick up their campers at the same time could you not spread their arrivals times through out the day.

Quick check in and out. Easy and informative. The rv was in good clean working order

Campervan nearly new and in good condition.
Good explanations while delivering the camper.
Very helpful and sympathic desk.
Simple process to give the camper back.
Very small "glitches" but we lived effortlessly with them.

Our campervan was reasonably clean and in good condition, the staff was friendly and responsive prior to and during pick-up/drop-off, and the pick-up and turn-in process was quick and straight-forward.

My only complaints are a) the bedding, while supposedly clean and wrapped in plastic, had a bunch of long hairs in it when it was opened b) the top sheet/duvet cover we were issued was too small for the bed and c) the pre-pick-up emails were confusing as I continued to receive check-in requests after I had already checked-in on-line (and was not prompted during the process to upload my photo docs during the check-in and had to waste time doing so at the pick-up location).

Everything was OK, except that we had to wait for long hours because they had to put new tyres on ...
But we got some compensation by the status of "high priority" at the end of the renting period, thx!

The team was very accomodating and supportive. Took the time even though it was a quite busy day.
Minor issue was solved quickly and in a great way.

Would use them again

Our recent motorhome rental with BunkCampers was very disappointing. The vehicle had a foul-smelling fridge we couldn’t use, repeated electrical and gas failures that left us without hot water and caused safety concerns, and even basic equipment like a kettle was missing despite prior confirmation. Overall, the poor condition of the motorhome and lack of reliability significantly disrupted and undermined our holiday experience.

Great van and the app from Bunk Campers on where you can park overnight is a must.

The camper was great, pickup was not. You could only pick it up after 3pm (everyone was there so only got going after 5pm) meaning you lost nearly a day and the staff did a hard sell for extra insurance.

service is fine, quality of the camper a little bit less. Almost new camper and already things broken and not fixed before the new customer.

Unless the check before.. the sliders for both windows didn't work anymore (so not possible to let a window open), the indicator for clean water didn't work (always 25%) and the indicator for the grey water didn't work (no indication at all).
