This results in an atmosphere of instability and incompetence.
It all comes from the top down. The teachers set the tone for the classrooms. All the staff from the principal to the lunch coordinator are trying their best, and it shows. There is a lot of respect for the children and parents, you aren't treated just as a number.
My child has several teachers since school has started in major subject classes.

The staff turn over at this school has been too great. The school has lost some of its best teachers. As a result it gives one the impression that the administration seems to have serious problems. This results in an atmosphere of instability and incompetence. Since the beginning of the school year, my child has not have an ELA teacher that I feel confident about. I simply haven't moved him because he has a few more months left at Brooklyn Excelsior Charter. In the early years this school was one of the best charter schools. it is indeed sad to see what is happening.
Ever since my daughter started Kindergarten I seen the change in her behavior. Her speech therapist is doing an excellent job with her. She is looking forward every night to do homework and is very eager to attend school in the morning because as she stated "she loves her teacher". I am very pleased and happy with her development. I couldn't be happier.
I have had a few set backs with the school to make me want to rethink the schools professionalism!

Overall the school is good, but I think there needs to be some improvement with the teachers. I get daily reports from my child on how in certain classes she isn't learning anything and that the teachers can't seem to keep the children under control, which interferes with those children that want to learn and exceed. So many teachers have been replace from Sept-Dec and it's only been 3 months into the school year. Don't get me wrong the school is good, but there is room for improvement.

I used to like the school but now I want to take my kids out. All these changes they're making are not making the school better. I've seen good staff leave, the kids have nowhere to be if they get to school a little early. I'm just fed up.

My daughter 4th grade teacher is doing a wonderful job keeping me informed.
I'm taking my child out of this school, staff is very mixed up, backwards and lost. No lunch room, no Gym, and No auditorium.. A wanna be school.. 2 of my co workers warned me to take her out because my child will fail and now she is. So just like they did, I will too.

The school don't up hold their uniform policy. Some of the kids are out of control. To many changing of staff. Some teachers, staff and Deans don't know how to speak to parents. This school is getting from bad to worse.

School was stable and had high expectations. Slowly but surely staffing became inconsistent and erratic. Principals had no goals for the students. Teachers had no intention to secure their position in the school. AND IT HAS NOT CHANGED. Brooklyn Excelsior Charter School needs major staffing and academic surgery. I am ashamed to tell people that I have a child attending B.E.C.S

This is my daughters first school year there and I have no complaints the school is great. She's learned so much in such a short period of time And I'm very satisfied. In Brooklyn Excelsior my daughter matters. And you don't get that in schools now and days.
Overall Brooklyn Excelsior is a good school. They do need a little improvement and more extra curriculum activities but other from that I would recommend this school to others. The teachers are great! I love Ms. Scott and Ms. Lopez.
The school is a very nice school with genuine staff that gives they all to be there for the kids and families would highly recommend to others
I love the school . Ms. Lopez is the best teacher any of my children has ever had . She works extra hard with my son and shows the passion for teaching . Love her ! Love the school !!
