Rough terrain crane (set 42082) - what a blast for this family into STEM
For autumn leave our family of 4 decided to take on a challenge with the rough terrain crane (set 42082): our first encounter with a Lego Technic set. We had a blast figuring out how all gears, couplings, axes, ... made it into one marvellous - and fully funtioning - mechanical assembly! This set is advised to anyone even remotely interested in STEM, or when you're just in it for the fun of building a well-engineered toy :-)
The reservation process was somewhat unclear at first: the webshop was loading slowly on a mobile device, poor indication of the set's availability, no instructions for the pick up, ... However, after a short email message I was immediately contacted by Ruben who provided clear instructions, followed up by a separate confirmation message per email.
The set is orderly stored in hard translucent plastic boxes, conveniently sorted per color. Upon request, a hardcopy of the building instructions booklet could be added, which we found not necessary as all instructions can be downloaded from Lego's webpage and/or app (QR-code to the app store is found on Brick Fun's boxes - nice touch!). Ruben made sure the battery pack was charged properly such that we could fully enjoy the finished set's movements in action upon completion. As a minor remark, we sometimes found it confusing that the stickered pieces were also mixed in the same box as regular pieces - making it harder to distinguish them, and more easily accidentally used in an incorrect building step.
Overall, we found the set to be well taken care of without missing structural pieces (just 2 little aesthetic pieces were not found; on a total of over 4.000 bricks!). The battery pack, motor and actuators were also still working smoothly.
Returning the set was straightforward, and the security deposit was refunded in full shortly afterwards. Great service!
We had so much fun with this set, and will definitely be renting again from Brick Fun!
For us, a 5-star review will be easily earned after following improvements:
* Slightly review the reservation procedure (webshop performance, clear indication of availability, add pick-up instructions, ...)
* Add additional boxes for special pieces (stickered, unique, ...)

Hartelijk dank voor deze uitgebreide en waardevolle review! Wat ontzettend leuk om te lezen dat jullie als gezin de uitdaging van de 'Kraan voor alle terreinen' zijn aangegaan. Het is inderdaad een technisch meesterwerk!
Bedankt voor de constructieve feedback over de webshop en de sortering van de stickers. We zijn achter de schermen al druk bezig met het optimaliseren van de website-snelheid en de beschikbaarheidskalender. Het idee voor een apart bakje voor de bestickerde onderdelen nemen we zeker mee!
Fijn dat het contact en de afhandeling verder naar wens waren. We kijken er naar uit om jullie bij een volgende vakantie weer een mooie set te mogen leveren!
