I took the IQ test paid then realized…

I took the IQ test paid then realized it was a subscription for 24.99 called them and the person said they will send a message. They are after hours service that can’t do anything. I cancelled my card and having the bank send me a new one. This is a scam!!!

One of the most mind-bendingly boring things I have ever done

I paid for a month of BrainHQ 3 weeks ago and have been "playing" the games 5 days a week. I am a retired research scientist, so I know about how studies should be structured, and many of the "hundreds" of studies that Brain HQ cites supporting its benefits are not well-structured. See more about that below.

As for my experience with the app, it was obviously set up by a neuroscientist without the help of a psychologist. It is repetitive to the point that it is torture to do the exercises. Then it's a downward spiral. Oh, you're bored so you're having trouble paying attention, and not doing well. Let's do that over and over and over again until you improve. That is their model. I hate it so much I will never use it again.

It seems to me that if they would structure it so that if you are doing worse and worse, they take that as a sign that you've had enough of that boring game and move on to the next one for a few minutes. SO AWFUL.
I will say that I did notice some mild cognitive improvement in the first week, but now I just dread doing those exercises and have just stopped.

As for the studies: 1. They don't compare Brain HQ to anything else, they just test the exercises, and it is not clear that they had a control group (people who did something else to see if there is a placebo effect), and 2. It is paid for by BrainHQ (Posit Science) both indications that the study does not meet scientific standards.

BORING

I've been using Brain HQ's "exercises" with a paid subscription for a couple of weeks now. I keep getting the same 3 or 4 exercises over and over. Sure, there may be a tiny variation in the color of the birds, butterflies, or cars and trucks, but they are still the same exercises. My wife uses an unpaid version and gets a wide variety of exercises. Maybe it's like Positscience says, and it's targeting my areas of greatest need until I grow, but it's so BORING. It's like I've been going to the gym and working on abs for two straight weeks. For a company that touts its remarkable use of brain science, they sure don't seem to have any understanding of the needs of neurodivergent or ADHD folks who might use their platform.

Worth The Money

Great app which I have benefited from through their subscription program. Their customer service is particularly excellent as well.
Two thumbs up!

Great program, science based exercises

I tried this after reading the book The Brain That Changes Itself, which references the work of Michael Merzenich, the founder of Posit Science. I like that I can have a free daily exercise, without subscribing. The exercises are science based, and the improvement in brain functioning carries over into everyday life, which is what I wanted. It’s fun to do, I do the daily free exercise in a morning and feel like it wakes up my brain. I’m sure if I subscribed to the full version, the results would be even better, but for now, the free version is great.

This is truly a great product going bad - Sad!

This is truly a great product based on very strong scientific data and I have used it consistently for almost 3 years now. I have also talked my friends into it and gifted it.
They have recently updated the site with mixed results - the new colors and algorithms are good. However, in several cases the results are absurd. FE if you use Freeze Frame - it takes 9 to 11 minutes to complete but will give you 2 minutes of credit. I can go on and on - their customer support is also quite good - but in spite of constant input corrective action is lacking. Sad ! I have gained a lot from it. Frustrated !!

Sneaky charging?

Somehow they managed to hang a sms text payment on me without me understanding that I'd said yes to it. I have no idea how good they are, but watch out they take 60Kr each time! Not happy!

Amazing!

I tried the BrainHQ by Posit Science and I’m very thankful because it’s made a big difference.
