Should be ashamed of themselves

Once again, the same complaint as so many others I've read on here. My 92 year old mother was ripped off for years by this company, rented a TV (box type) and when she asked if she could buy it (charity shops can't even give them away!) she was told it wasn't possible and that she needed to continue to pay monthly! She asked for an upgrade and they said there were none! Seriously!! Flat screen had been around for 20+ years by then! We bought her a fab new TV, asked them to collect their old rubbish, they refused and said she had to keep it!!!! Shameful, disgraceful, disgusting company

If I could give no stars that would be a start...

If I could give no stars that would be a start...

After finding out my 94 year old grandfather has been renting a very bog standard TV for the last 10 years at £30 a month I called to cancel straight away. I was told that as he was 'such a loyal and long standing customer' he would be able to buy the TV from them for £29.99...considering he has paid well over £3500 for this TV that is completely useless, I declined.

The customer advisor then offered me deals on Blu Ray DVD players and more useless items for a 94 year old. After I declined again I was then told that the TV has been written off and my grandfather is able to do as he wishes with it....so what happens to the £29.99 to buy the TV from them...oh and not to forget the extra payment because you have to give a month's notice...

After reading other reviews I truly cannot believe this company still exists, targeting the elderly and continuing to take payments for years on end until someone with modern world knowledge cancels for them or sadly until after they have passed.

Yes, these 'customers' understand that they are paying monthly for a device but who is monitoring the amount they are paying for these devices, there are no upgrades offered when the device has been paid for 10 times over...
I am utterly shocked that this is a legal way of working and the company needs investigating and shut down.

87 year old deceased Aunt used this…

87 year old deceased Aunt used this company for years and years. There is something to be said for the comfort of knowing the appliance can be fixed when it breaks down or upgraded with little stress so Im not going to comment on the thousands of pounds that was probably handed over, over the years but I’m going to comment on the service once she passed away.

They tried to leave the washing machine which was in my opinion unusable it was rusted all over and mouldy inside and out so we asked for it to be taken along with the tv they did want back, they can only do this on certain days and when they did arrive they left the plumbing open and did not cap it off! This meant the water ran straight into the cupboard. We called to complain and was told to email in which we did. We have heard nothing!! This alone should tell you all to check if your parents and elderly relatives use this company and if they do cancel the service immediately! Save your money there is zero service.

If I could I would give -5 stars

If I could, I would put -5 stars. This company agreed to rent a washing machine and tumble dryer to my grandad in 2005 for 35.99 per month. Fast forward 19 years and over £8,000 later, the service following his death has been abysmal.

I was first offered to transfer the account over after he had paid more than 10 times their value. I was then told they were no longer taking on new customers, and the account would be closed and items removed. When arguing there was no chance they would remove two products they have had more than 10 times the value of, they sheepishly offered to leave me with them as a gesture of goodwill, but refused to service or repair the current fault we have with the tumble dryer as he had passed away and was no longer their issue.

My advise, stay well clear. You will rent these, pay more than the value of the product, will never be offered upgrades unless you ask or servicing, and argue to the teeth for a repair you probably would then have to pay for. My advice, buy the products yourselves and stay well clear of these absolute crooks. Thieving off the elderly and taking full advantage where they can, and they brag excellent customer service, the cheek. Hope this helps people save thousands of pounds in the future.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS……

AVOID AT ALL COSTS…..Had a TV rental from them more than 20 years ago. We told them we no longer wanted it. They wouldn’t pick it up. We had it in our hall for 6 months because they kept saying someone was collecting it. We continued waiting for them, but ran out of patience and told them if it wasn’t collected we would bin it. Which in the end we did.
It’s 2024 and we just had a debt collection company knock demanding £1800. They can go and do one. Statute of limitations, their time has well ran out. The collection agency actually agreed with me, that I shouldn’t pay them. I remember how disgusting, and arrogant these people were when we were trying to get them to collect it.
PLEASE DON’T USE THEM.

Rude arrogant and over priced for what it is

I am writing as the daughter of a long standing customer:
After my family using this company for over 40 years (down to convenience) - we never called them out for any issues but just let it run like so many people do once you sign up for something.
When reviewing recently- we decided it was not cost affective for my mother and called to cancel - they advised she would have to pay over £300 for the TV. We cancelled and asked them to collect the TV and purchased another TV and set it up for her to get rid of the monthly payments

On collection the rude arrogant man said to my elderly mum:
"Thanks - You paid for my mansion"

Which just confirmed the kind of service your getting

Box Clever not that clever…

I work in care looking after vulnerable adults who need support 24/7. Our company have used Box Clever for many years meaning realistically that some appliances have costed many hundreds of pounds when one can be purchased for less than 200. I contacted BC about a faulty tumble dryer explained that the residents need a dryer only to be told by BC that they couldn’t attend until ten days later. No apology, no customer care nothing. Shocking company.

Boxclever are incompetent

Boxclever are incompetent I have waited for four weeks to be sent a contract and and DD mandate for a Television I rent from them . They then send me a letter demanding payment without any acknowledgement of their outstanding arrangement to send me a contract and DD mandate . This is just one of the many example of Boxclevers inability to deliver a reasonable service .

I have a 96 year old neighbour who has had the same small tv fir 15 years. I worked it out at just over £3400 in total. I phoned them and they said they would give her £2 off a month. Not a chance. I'm gonna buy her a cheap, new tv for around £100.

Excellent service.

We have been with Boxclever (previously DVR) for many many years.
Possibly about 27/28 years.
They have always been exceptional with their help and rental. Cheap as well. Unfortunately due to money things we have now had to cancel. They couldn't have been more helpful.

First class service to us here in North…

First class service to us here in North Shields. We have their washing machines and dryers in our laundry facility; used by 37 apartments, so pretty constantly 7 days per week. The machines are maintained and serviced regularly. On the rare occasion that an issue has arisen we have received immediate service and assistance with technician attendance when needed. I couldn't be happier.

Disgusting company

Disgusting company, charging my elderly grandparents a huge amount per month for a 15 year old tv, and then having the cheek to refuse them to keep their TV stand and recording device when returning TV.

Avoid at all costs - horrible company, absolute scam.

Former radio rentals

Former radio rentals, this scum company charged my late Father 22 quid a month for twenty years for a decrepit fridge, sending threatening messages when he was dead, looking forward to meeting the "Team" in Bedford just to say hello.
