I would recommend Steve's help to anyone on a credit proposal. He is very thorough and professional. I have had two years paid on the proposal now, and received the statement of account for both. He was also very helpful, with no hesitation, when I asked various times for a statement of progress for a matter at work, and for another credit question.

Not to happy how I was told that two years after my last payment my credit would be clear. I then have to wait for 7 years after last payment as was told by credit bureau. Would have been quicker to go bankrupt

This is a good example of how there is a lot of conflicting and inaccurate advice on debt issues. This can cause people to make a poor choice, or question a good choice they have made. The truth is that Consumer Proposal records are purged from credit bureau records 3 years after a proposal is completed. Here is the wording directly from Equifax and TransUnion, the two main credit bureaus active in Ontario:
“When a registered consumer proposal is paid, it will automatically purge three (3) years from the date paid.” (Equifax)
“The consumer proposal and all accounts reported as satisfied through the proposal will be removed from your file three (3) years from the date you satisfied the proposal or (6) years after the date you defaulted on the account, whichever date comes first.” (TransUnion)
