Very disappointed with Booths

Very disappointed with Booths. Shopped at Booths Penrith on Tuesday, before Christmas. The Raspberries were tasteless, the brussels were scabby, the pork pie crust was far too thick and finally the large Fresh Custard Pie was tasteless too. I have never been disappoined with Boots Fresh food before. Sit up Booths. What is going wrong here?

Friendly, helpful staff but products below previous standards!

Booths staff Lancaster friendly and welcoming as always. Had all the extra items for my Christmas shop and the staff cheerful and helpful when collecting my order - I had ordered an Adlington duck way back in October as previously very good but when taking it out of the box to put in the fridge was as solid as a brick absolutely frozen through. Contacted the order line via Email and very short apology received despite paying for a fresh expensive duck as in catalogue description. Could have got a frozen one weeks earlier. A very disappointed customer and hope no one is ill from their poultry!

Insulting behaviour at checkout.

At checkout the cashier was serving a lady who, by the chatty conversation she was having, knew the customer. On clearing the till area, it was our turn to be served. Our few products began to be scanned.
However the cashier, instead of engaging with or acknowledging my wife and I, began a chat with the cashier to her right asking her about her sheep and completely ignoring us. Even a small greeting, a smile or some eye contact might have made the difference but we were blanked. This is inexcusable behaviour. It wasn't busy in store.

Unfair and Unexpected parking charge

Unfair and Unexpected parking charge. We own a hi-top van which is too tall for the main car park so parked at the back of the (Clitheroe) store in an area labelled "Staff and Deliveries". I checked the available signage but no where did it say the public could not park in this area. I'm also a Blue Badge holder so I put my Blue Badge on display in the vehicle. Spent 45 mins in store. Few days later a Parking Charge Notice arrived. Paid the £50 as we were about to go away for a few days and couldn't deal with appealing to the rogue company. I have submitted a complaint to Booths, asking for tokens to the value of £50 to be issued as reimbursement. I doubt these will turn up. If tokens do not arrive, Booths have lost another customer due to Parking Eye. It would seem Parking Eye are costing them a few customers... I hope for Booths sake they can get out of this contract because it is doing their company name no good at all!

Excellent service

On Saturday 29th November, I went with my family for afternoon tea at Booths. Pre ordered. We were absolutely incompetent - it took us ages to order sandwiches and then ages to order cakes. The waitress dealing with us was Jade. She was so patient and attentive. Her whole demeanour suggested that she had the whole afternoon to deal with just us. Thank you for excellent service.

Booths which way forward ?

Booths has massive strengths and equal negatives .
Buyers seem to seek out good produce
Product information is good and there’s often useful recipes, et cetera
Fresh products counters great and staff knowledgeable
Range of foods and diversity gooof

Not so good . In the evenings particularly some young staff are more concerned with chatting up their work colleagues, both male and female rather than actually dealing with the job of serving the customers in a focused way. The new system of using your card to get discounted items not unlike the Tesco system isn’t really deep and wide enough so there are some good offers but they could go much further with this to develop loyalty.

A real contrast with the daytime staff and perhaps some more mature staff who seem to understand the need to offer a complete customer satisfaction .

I have a suspicion that one Store member the staff who had a different ability was hounded out by female members of staff . He was a real asset to the shop but sadly left under what circumstances I do not know.

I certainly overheard on the number of occasions very negative comments about him from young colleagues

More information on Produce sourcing and origins would be helpful in a simple but impact way so that customers could understand where their food was coming from what it may or may not have been treated with and why it’s good to buy fresh and seasonal fruit and veg

Longton store. £100 store and cafe visit.

Longton store. Used store and met friends in cafe. Hadn't realised had overstayed their two hour limit. Why Longton store needs car parking company is beyond me, and two hours is not enough. £100 fine. No Christmas Booths order this year.

Lancaster store review

Cant thank the lovely staff in the Lancaster store enough. We were in a bit of a situation when our baby had a nappy explosion as we were about to start a 3 hour journey. They didn't have customer toilets but we're so accommodating and let us use their staff toilet and we're so kind throughout. We love popping in when we're down south anyway as its a great store with good variety and a nice treat but the staff definitely go above and beyond.

A Tale of Greed and Profit

The car parking terms and conditions it seems needs overhauling as Booths along with 3rd party ANPR enforcement are penalising customers by issuing over inflated fines. For making a genuine mistake, I complained about the huge fine for the 13 minute oversight and was advised to appeal directly to ParkingEye. The negative reviews for this Company are as poor as you can expect and the chances of a fine being overturned are minimal if not impossible. I’m very shocked and surprised Booths are associating themselves with this rogue company.

Cafe at Booths Longton

This review is about the cafe at Booths Longton. My friend and I stopped to do some shopping and decided to have lunch afterwards. The cafe may have been understaffed on the day we visited. However, every aspect was terrible. The service was awful. The food was awful and the cutlery was filthy. I would not recommend this supermarket cafe at all. They were unorganised and appeared to have run out of even the basics. Historically I’ve been a big supporter of booths, but this was an awful experience. We ordered two cheese on toast and two teas. The food took ages to arrive and when it did it was nothing like described on the menu. I left mine and my friend barely touched hers. We were going to complain but we’d already had to queue for 20 minutes to order, then we had to ask for clean cutlery as what we’d been given had not been washed properly. Other customers were also complaining and one customer even resorted to buying a sandwich from the store to eat in the cafe because the cafe had run out of everything she’d asked for. The cafe was cold, dirty and uninviting. I’ve given a two star review not for the cafe but for other store staff who were pleasant and helpful.

Possible chemical contamination

Informing of possible chemical contamination of Morphet Farms milk bought at Keswick Booths store. It had a strong chemical/metallic taste and smell and has made me and others seriously ill with nausea and mouth burns. Booths need to investigate this urgently.

Beware. Unfair parking fines issued.

Beware. I’ve been a consistent customer of Booths for over 20 years. I recently visited the Fulwood store, including the cafe where I put my car reg in and later received a £100 parking fine! I should have been entitled to 2 hours parking which quite frankly they should be given anyway since they encourage you to be slow! No self service tills, promotions which don’t register which you then have to visit the customer service till to sort out. This problem has occurred to others too and it’s possibly a glitch as I noticed the card reader etc in the cafe is old and slow. It’s not like there isn’t plenty of healthy competition to maybe time to say bye to Booths!

The staff at Booths are always amazing

The staff at Booths are always amazing. Booths carries such a lovely range and variety, I regularly go to Booths to get items I just can’t get anywhere else. Whilst some items can initially seem a bit pricey it’s important to remember that they are often artisanal products from small makers rather than industrial manufacturers.

We feel very let down by Booths.

We feel very let down by Booths.
We cooked a boneless pork belly with maple & bourbon glaze according to the instructions. The pork was undercooked & not ready for us to eat. We know pork has to be well cooked & put it back in the oven for a further 30 minutes!
We thought Booths was trustworthy & their meat was good. Someone somewhere doesn't know how to cook!

Load up on Prozac before entering

Miserable experience really at the Kirkby Lonsdale store. Went there at the behest of my elderly mum, who was desperate for milk and essentials. Milk overpriced (with short date), loaf overpriced (with short date), fruit and veg overpriced (and of varied quality), faff at the till regarding a Booths card and every member of staff looked miserable as hell. In fact I've recently been to a funeral and I swear the people grieving were much more cheerful!

I'd sooner drive another dozen miles and take mother to Aldi, Lidl or Sainsbury's.

Unlabeled Halal meat sold at Booths

I'm a vegetarian, but I buy meat from Booths for my dog. However, it has been brought to my attention that Booths sell Halal meat that they haven't labelled as Halal. I find this unacceptable. When I contacted Booths they gave me the brush-off. I will now be buying my dog's meat from a butcher that doesn't entertain Halal. If you feel the same I urge you to boycott your supermarkets meat counter until they start aligning themselves with the British peoples values.
