Writers beware

On the recommendation of another author, I visited their site, set up an author account, and booked a one-day promotion of a book.
They confirmed a spot for a one day promotion was being held for me and billed me $US52, which I promptly paid as that is the norm with book promoters.

They confirmed receipt of the $52. I then tried to login to the account I had set up with them and found my account was no longer valid. I asked for a new password. No reply.

No promotion ever appeared on their site.
