It's a little early to give a comprehensive review of this course, but I like the way it has started. I like the novel approach and, even though I've never met him, I like Lucas's personality, demeano... See more

BonjourTalk is an online French course built for busy people who want to actually speak the language, not just memorize textbook phrases. We teach French the way it's genuinely spoken in everyday life, so you can hold real conversations with confidence whether you're traveling to Paris, ordering at a café, or simply connecting with French speakers. Our approach is different from traditional language courses. Instead of drilling endless conjugation tables, we teach grammar in context and focus on the practical phrases and expressions French speakers use day to day. Every lesson features authentic native-speaker audio from France, Canada, and other French-speaking regions, helping you train your ear and master pronunciation, liaisons, and the natural rhythm of the language.

Best course so far
I have been learning French on and off for over 10 years but so far this has been the best course I have done. The videos are just the right length and engaging enough to keep me motivated to keep going. Looking forward to working my way the the course. Highly recommended.
It is the most liberating language…
It is the most liberating language course!
I have studied French for a number of years but have never lost my 'performance anxiety'. Within two lessons and sound advice this has nearly all dissipated.
Great overview on how to learn French…
Great overview on how to learn French like a native speaker. Excellent videos and support materieals
Trying again after a very long break.
Although I learnt French in high school (about sixty years ago!), the way it was taught was very rigid with the stress on grammar. I always found it frustrating and it didn't stick. When I found Bonjourtalk, I was immediately attracted to the philosophy of learning in chunks, predicting replies and relying on context. Better than the other (well known) online course. Enjoyable structure to the lessons. Early days, but I'm enjoying it.
This was not what I expected
This was not what I expected. The TIPS are great, but each "lesson" consists of only about 3 or 4 phrases. This is a good supplement to learning the language.
The pronunciation is a little hit or…
The pronunciation is a little hit or miss. In one video you might hear a word pronounced incorrectly one time and then the next time, it’s correcte.
Great value for the money.
Well thought-out approach to learning French. Recommended!
I found the BonjourTalk premise of learning focusing on entire practical phrases, or “chunks,” an interesting one and compelling based on my own experience with similar phenomena. While the course itself seemed at first to start a bit slowly with a preponderance of motivational notes, it quickly picked up and I was particularly impressed with the numerous (eight in total I believe) supplemental downloads immediately downloadable. As I have pursued the course, I have found it most rewarding indeed and looking forward to progressing with it.
practical approach to teaching a new language
It is better and more practical to learn phrases that we are actually going to use instead of the way most people are taught. I am just starting to use the program but so far I like it.

I've just started the course after having studied at Alliance Francaise for some time. I am loving the different approach and making much better progress.
A refreshing approach to French…
A refreshing approach to learning French. Good explanations as well as examples. Each lesson is relatively short, which I find helpful. Jumps right in to useful conversation. It may be a bit simplistic for those with some knowledge of French already, but I felt the new approach helped me learn better, even with past knowledge. I would like to have a list with each lesson of just the expressions and translations. They are provided in the lesson transcript, but a short list that grows with each subsequent lesson would be really helpful.
Good starting or refresher program
Good starting or refresher program. I find the phrases are more useful than a lot of other formal courses. Lots of add-ons and additional items for sale.
French foundation review
The Bonjour program is perfect for brushing up my French before visiting Montreal. I supplement it with Quebecois variations on YouTube videos to catch the differences in vocabulary.
Bonjourtalk has a very interesting way…
Bonjourtalk has a very interesting way of teaching French. At first I might have been a little overwhelmed and as I moved through to exercise number 2 I began to understand this way of being taught. It made a lot of sense and I already feel more comfortable with some basic and important sentences. I’m sticking with it and looking forward to continued learning. I recommend Bonjourtalk to anyone stuck or even at the end of their current course. Try it and you’ll see a new way of understanding and speaking French.
J’adore ce cours pour l’instant
J’adore ce cours pour l’instant. J’aime beaucoup l’attitude de l’instructeur. Il me donne de l’espoir!
I’m older with very rusty French and a tendency to freeze or mumble-stumble over my words. But pattern recognition takes me back to my classes with Mme. Glyda in grade school. I look forward to recovering and enhancing every day French. “Intellectual”French and those discussions will come later, I’m sure, as my comfort with simply speaking increases through this course.
Moving beyond grammar..
I have just started my journey with BonjourTalk and I am already excited about this method for improving my ear and my pronunciation through conversational French. I have taken five semesters at a University level, which focus heavily on grammar, and now I am ready to communicate in French dans le monde réel avec mes amies françaises!
Great concept
I love the idea of science based thinking and practicalities to provide a learning environment for different brains. Great concept and easily accessible.
Chunking is so effective
Learning through “chunking” has been so much more useful than individual vocabulary words that you have to remember which to put together. These have been useful chunks as well - not just words that you may never end up saying to another person. I’m enjoying it immensely!
Really enjoying this course
Really enjoying this course. So much more useful than the textbook French I have been learning. Recommend
This French course is really going to…
This French course is really going to work for me. If you practise so that the phrases roll off your tongue, it stops the ‘freeze’ and you don’t have to think about tenses and grammar.
It’s quick and achievable.
After years of learning textbook French…
After years of learning textbook French I felt totally defeated when speaking with friends in France. At the age of 88, I find rote memorization extremely difficult. I was terribly embarrassed when my friends insisted on speaking English in my presence. After several months experience with Bonjour talk I can easily fit into French conversations without the use of stilted memorized phrases. I do not consider myself fluent, but I fully expect to continue to improve with the help of Bonjourtalk.
