I had some concerns about bone health…
I had some concerns about bone health and general body health. Jack was really knowledgeable and easy to understand. He was pleasant and gave thorough explanations throughout the initial consultation. I was left feeling informed and given some plans to improve my bone health and muscle development. It will be good to come back and review my progress. Thanks Jack
Dexa scan- Birmingham
Visited the Birmingham branch today for a follow up Dexa scan. James really helped me understand the changes in my test results and is really knowledgeable about the whole process. Will be going back in another 6 months.

Great experience in Bristol today
Great experience in Bristol today. 360 body scan and Dexa scan completed in 15 minutes with repeated of the body scans to ensure best imaging. Lilly was very professional and went through the scan results in a clear manner but not unecesaarily simplified which can often happen in clinical settings. I felt Lilly ensured all my queries were answered before I left, making sure the meaning of my own reaults were explained in context of my overall health goals and I will probably change some behaviours as a result. This was not rushed either. My expectations for the scan were asked and matched so thankyou very much!
Easy to book a scan
Easy to book a scan, no delays for my appointment and staff very courteous and knowledgeable.

Jack was brilliant couldn’t have been…
Jack at the Guildford branch was brilliant couldn’t have been more friendly and professional. I had a DEXA scan, he explained everything meticulously and clearly from start to finish. I left feeling very well informed and supported.
The whole experience is very easy and professional from start to finish: plenty of text reminders beforehand! a map link to get there with parking instructions. Easy parking outside. A smart new little building, no large places to navigate. All these things contribute to an easy and pleasant experience.
I also tried to use the social media link to get 20%off my first consultation. When this didn’t work I got in touch and was immediately reimbursed.

Great first appointment with Lilly…
Great first appointment with Lilly today in Bristol. We both (joint scan) appreciated the detailed breakdown of results, the implications for health/longevity as well as the recommendations Lilly provided to support us in making positive lifestyle changes moving forward. Will definitely be back for an interval scan.

Great first experience
My consult was with Cameron on Saturday 13.06.
He started by explaining what the scan would contain. All very simple to understand. Everything was done to reassure me every step of the way. The scan was complete painless. The results were very interesting and my personal plan was very clear. I will definitely go back over 6 months. Thanks for a great first experience!

I booked a DEXA and body scan at…
I booked a DEXA and body scan at Birmingham and was with James. I had a fall last year and broke my elbow and neck of femur. I had a scan then, and was told I had osteopenia and to take calcium and vitamin D. I wanted to see how things were progressing and James took me through the report. He explained everything in a clear and concise way and I was given guidance on how to progress going forward. I was offered a hard copy of the report which will be useful if I decide to consult a doctor.
The clinic was easy to get to from Five Ways railway station and is inside a building owned by Midland Health.

Useful scan, operative trying too hard to be a PT
The scan was v useful, giving me data that I can use moving forward. However, the person doing it was too insistent about what I should be eating at each meal, what my goals should be and to use a friend of theirs as a PT.
Great, streamlined, professional experience.
Great, streamlined, professional experience. I had a DEXA scan in Bristol with Lilly and the process was straightforward, clear and consise, without feeling rushed. She took the time to explain the process and then gave a conprehensive review of the results, along with suggestions for what to focus on next.
Looking forward to returning in a few months to check on my progress.

First DEXA Scan - coming back for more!
I had a really positive experience with Jack at BodyView Guildford - he outlined very clearly how the scan would happen (it only took a few minutes and was actually quite relaxing!) and was then happy to explain in detail afterwards the results of my scan. These results are shown on a large computer monitor which for me was easier to take in the information rather than if only a printout had been provided.
I really appreciated the answers to my questions and the fact that Jack spent extra time beyond the 40 minute appointment slot to help me understand my post-scan report. Jack is very easygoing, down-to-earth and approachable and I look forward to returning for follow-ups in the future!
Very worthwhile
Appmt on time, Sean explained the process well. Scans were painless. Report was very prompt and Sean explained what the details meant (and explained again when I hadn’t understood). All very comfortable, easy and its given me lots to think about.

DEXA with POTS and hEDS
I had a DEXA and body scan. I wanted these as I’m obese but have been working on muscle strengthening. I wanted to know my body composition. The process was very easy, in a lovely building. I was happy with the report and how Sean went through it with me. It was actually nice to talk the results over. I’d been a bit scared about getting the results as I know my weight is a problem but there was so much data I loved it and actually found it incredibly encouraging and motivating. I’m going to work on losing some weight and go back when I have.
It’s really made a difference to my understanding of my body. I have some health conditions (POTS and hEDS) and managing my body can be confusing and overwhelming but I feel more empowered now with this information.
Worth the cost.
Absolutely recommend.
If you’ve got long hair bring a bobble and clips to tie it up.
Cyclists: this not the VO2 max place!
I was very disappointed with the VO2 max testing protocol and process which was included in the “Athlete”bundle.
The RMR, DEXA and body composition analysis was all pretty efficient and seemed pretty straightforward.
The first test was Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR). I was surprised that the RMR assessment-(lying still with a mouthpiece to measure O2 and CO2 exchange) was more uncomfortable than it sounds when it was explained to me. The varied sensations of dry throat, tickly throat, wanting to cough as saliva dripped down the throat, with the mouthpiece in situ and a nose peg on was surprisingly unpleasant. Just be warned.
The real issue for me is that the VO2 max testing and reporting are suboptimal.
As context, I have had my VO2 max done 3 times in labs in recent years. Today was my 4th, 3 in last 2 years.
On the process I had indicated that I wanted a bike test, not treadmill. When I arrived, the bike was not set up to my height and reach. I had to remove the flat pedals on the gig, attach my own Look Keo pedals, remove them afterwards and reattach the factory flats.
My biggest problem - I feel a bit ripped off - was that I was not tested either to failure, or to my attainable max HR (which I have attained in training recently), to my recent One minute power or or as far as I know to a RER plateau. I have no idea why the test was stopped when it was as my RPE was 7-8/10. Not failure.
In fact, the protocol was stopped at Heart Rate of 165 bpm and at a power of 295 w (based on what? Age, my Trainer Road FTP of 247-252??) well below my documented one-minute power and my recently attained HRmax of 173-175.
Thus, I reckon my VO2 max was underestimated. It is increasing since prior test but I was not tested to the max whether on HR, Power or RPE.
As a result of the was underestimated VO2max the training zones suggested from the report are consequently very conservative and don’t look like what I have been doing in training (guided by Trainer Road).
This result really leaves me wondering and guessing what would have been the real values at HRmax. And the training zones values just look wrong, so they won’t inform my training…
But “the protocol was done” and my report was hastily explained and I was being rushed out of the room as “we were out of time”.
I chose the bicycle option as I train for cycling. I brought my own Look Keo pedals. Luckily, I brought a pedal tool as the guy doing the test did not have the tools, or know-how, to change the pedals. I spent maybe 10 minutes of the time making the change for him to put my pedals on and later took another 5 mins or so to take mine off and reinsta their pedals… and then I got a rushed report and foreshortened VO2max testing as a result!!
My report does give me my VT1 and VT2 but not the RER which would help understand whether this was actually a max test.
I think they Bodyview are fine on imaging - based on my N of 1 experience at BodyView they are not good on VO2 max testing.
If you are serious about VO2max as a performance tool and training guide, I would suggest you go to StMary University Lab in Twickenham or a physiologist at a lab like Richard Tucker at Human Performance Lab where they know how to do this cycling VO2 max properly.
