Scam Company, They take your money, that's it

I paid $85 for this course and never received my boating license. When you call or chat they give you another phone number. I waited 7 weeks and no license. They are quick to steal your money but good luck on getting your card or them providing any customer service.

Free courses are available for Ohio Boating License

Signed up and paid for an Ohio Boating license course for my grandson. He never started or even opened the course as his father found the free boatUS.org course. Even though he had not started or even opened the course, boat-ed started charging monthly renewal fees which I thought were for one of my sailing navigation and weather apps. When I did check and realize what the charges were for, I tried to log in online and could not access the account. I could not find a number to call so filled out an email request and reported the charges to my credit card company who was able to provide a number. Initially, Boat-ed could not find the account but finally found it and deactivated the monthly charges. They refused to refund any fees even though the course was not started. Don't sign up for auto renew.

I thought the boat-ed class was very helpful

I thought the boat-ed class was very helpful and informative. I've been boating for years, but still learned quite a bit. I particularly liked the videos that showed real-life scenarios. The animation sections were helpful, too, but sometimes they were a bit confusing. In all, it's always a great idea to get a refresher course. It will make me much more cognizant of my surroundings when I'm out on the water.

Charging extra when not completed in undisclosed timeframe

My son didn't rush getting through the course as it states study at your own pace, and when trying to complete it, it asked for more money saying the 90 days lapsed. It was never stated anywhere that there was a time limit (maybe the fine print if anyone is expected to read all terms and conditions to take a course...). Boat Ed refused to grant more time and is expecting payment. Worst service possible.

Absolutely terrible

Absolutely terrible. Make sure you read the fine print.

Terrible experience with hidden policies!

I took the Boat-Ed course and was shocked to find outthat there’s a strict time limit to complete the course. This crucial detail was buried in the fine print, and when I missed the deadline, my account was blocked, and I was asked to pay the full course fee again just to continue. The company refused to offer any flexibility or understanding, insisting it was my problem. Their lack of transparency and poor customer service is appalling. I would strongly advise looking for alternatives unless you want to be hit with surprise fees.

While I do intend to get the Alabama…

While I do intend to get the Alabama Boating LIcense, the biggest reason that I took the course was to learn. And that I did. Not only did I learn the laws and rules of boating; much was focused on safety. It was worth the time that was needed to do this.

We had a great experience with this…

We had a great experience with this company renting a boat. The whole process went smoothly. We did a safety course before, to refresh all necessary rules of boating although we used to boat in the past. Jack was informative, he explained and walked us through boat and marked most of visible damages, referred where to go.
Equipment Yamaha Hurricane good for 10 people. We were boating in 4.
