Written by the company

Arklow Jiu Jitsu Academy has been teaching Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in Arklow, Co. Wicklow, since 2014. We offer classes for children, teenagers and adults, welcoming complete beginners as well as people with previous training experience. The academy is owned and run by Dean Barry, a first-degree Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt who teaches the majority of our classes. Our approach is straightforward: good coaching, regular practice and an environment where people feel comfortable asking questions and learning at their own pace. For adults, training offers a practical way to improve fitness, learn a skill and take some time away from the demands of everyday life. Some members enjoy competing, while others train simply because they enjoy Jiu Jitsu and the people they train with. Both are equally welcome. Our children’s and teens’ classes focus on learning the fundamentals, building confidence and developing control, patience and respect for training partners. We want young people to enjoy their time on the mats while making steady progress. We’ve built the academy around consistent teaching and a friendly atmosphere. Whether you’re trying your first class or have been training for years, you’ll have people to learn from and train with.
