Bromets Jackson Heath LLP Reviews 

Brought in to administer the estate of my father and obtain explanations from my brother about refusing to allow anyone to see the accounts and large withdrawals he made while power of attorney and my father was in a care home suffering from dementia.

Fined by the Legal Ombudsman for poor service. (See previous reviews)

Fined again for further poor service and financial breaches.(See previous reviews)

Fine increased when they failed to pay the penalty.

Now asked if they can pay in instalments due to being "unable to pay in one sum" This is not a large amount. 

As noted by other reviewers, attempting to have reviews removed.

Either it is more petulance and games being played, or they  are genuinely unable to pay a small fine.  Both scenarios are worrisome.

Referred to Solicitors Regulation Authority by Legal Ombudsman.

Please avoid this organisation.

This is the second review we are leaving as we were intimidated with legal action, and told that the firm would not pay the money that they owed us unless we took down our previous review.

Due to the failings of this firm, we lost a significant amount of money on the completion of our property, that to date they have refused to return despite admitting fault.

When they did agree to a payment schedule, despite ignoring requests for this to be put into writing, 48 hours before the payment was due they issued a formal notice refusing to pay due to our Google Review. These intimidation tactics are one of many they have attempted to use including blocking of emails, blocking of phone numbers and Richard Scott verbally abusing us down the phone that he did not care about the money owed and had no intention of paying.

Sadly, upon reading other reviews it appears we are not alone so whilst we continue to wait for our money to be returned following the appropriate channels I hope this review saves someone from having the displeasure of working with this organisation.

Further to the previous horrific review, The Legal Ombudsman has decided that Bromets Jackson Heath have, once again, failed to deliver a satisfactory service on the following points.

1. Failure to provide documentation to executors of the estate.

2. Failed to keep executors informed about the status of the estate, including accounts of estate property.

3. Making payments from the estate without authority to do so, or informing executors about such payments, whilst accounts have not been agreed and signed off.

4.Making payments to some beneficiaries whilst choosing not to make due payments to other beneficiaries.

The Legal Ombudsman's office have issued a fine to Bromets Jackson Heath and although they (Nick Grobler) agreed to pay the fine, they have neglected to do so on numerous occasions despite extensions being granted.

This means that they have accepted the decision of the Ombudsman but then ignored the penalty for their actions, effectively refusing to accept what the Ombudsman decided.

Keep very far away from these people. For multiple reasons.

After researching the cost of wills on the Internet and being aware that my simple single persons will wasn’t a difficult one I was delightedly with Dom’s honesty and the cost he quoted after speaking to lots of other solicitors offices and alternative options.
Dom was easy to talk to, and the paperwork was with me within the day via email, although other options were offered.
Everything was signed off within the week despite me having to change my appointment, and his advice about a ‘fireproof bag’ to keep documents in was invaluable, thanks Dom 😀.
I have already recommended him to friends who need to amend their will and hopefully that says it all!

We used Bromets Jackson Heath for the sale of our property mid August 2025. What started out as a positive experience turned into a complete disaster. We were allocated Lois Calder and James Walsh who were brilliant at the start of our conveyancing journey. We were told Lois was off ill in November and from that day forward we received no communication or correspondence from Bromets Jackson Heath after several promises of call backs. We have since been told that Lois no longer works at Bromets Jackson Heath. In the end the estate agent had to step in to get our sale over the line. What should have been a straight forward 12 week no chain sale has left us with a shortfall in our mortgage redemption as Bromets Jackson Heath failed to redeem our mortgage on completion day (Friday 28th November) and ultimately also failed in sending us the surplus funds on completion day. We are still yet to receive correspondence from Bromets Jackson Heath to confirm our sale has completed. This has been confirmed by the estate agent and the buyers solicitors. After sending a formal complaint 3 weeks ago we are still yet to even receive acknowledgement of our complaint.

I needed to amend my mums will following my fathers passing. Got in touch with Dominic by phone for a detailed conversation. New document was sent same day & process completed within 3 days via email/phone.

Very happy with the service & to keep mums mind rested.

We was selling my parents bungalow their was a few dilemmas at first but as soon as lois Calder took over everything went smoothly. She replied to emails and phone calls and took us through every step on our journey. I would definitely recommend her if you are thinking of selling or buying a house she is a credit to the company

I used this company 10 years ago and they were good. This time - absolutely terrible. I phoned (which took ages to answer) and was transferred but then cut off. I then phoned again (ages to answer) and they took my phone number and said someone would call me back. I waited 5 hours - no call. So I sent an email and filled in the contact form on their website. It's now 24 hours and still no reply. What is going on? Would you trust this company with your legal matters? I will use someone else - which is a pity because I live in Tadcaster and, apart from the convenience, I like to support local businesses. Also (just an observation) the exterior of their premises, which were always pristine, is now scruffy and not maintained. I did wonder if they had gone out of business. I am scoring 1 star but they do not even deserve that.

Lois was excellent, kept me updated on the sale and process, despite hitting a couple of issues, she never stopped communicating, which is to her credit.

Avoid this company. They failed to reply to my emails and also refused to return my calls. Documents have been lost and they refuse to admit it. We've changed Solicitors despite our family using Bromets for the last 100 years!
A truly stressful experience lately.

Avoid at all cost.
Unreliable in every way. Quoted one price and charged significantly more with no explanation or breakdown of costs.
Fail to reply to messages by phone and email and having held a meeting and given promises of response they never did.
Unprofessional and rude in every way

Overall a very good experience with a few minor blips which seems to be a consistent issue with every solicitor we have dealt with in the past.

To be honest they are the worst solicitors I have ever used in my life totally useless & clueless staff as all solicitors they are very good liars when all behind the scenes nothing is getting done.

From the searches being returned nothing and I mean absolutely nothing was done for 3 months no communication to sellers’ solicitors or to me for that matter.

I had advised them on many occasions about the mortgage offer expiring and I needed to know if I should get an extension but, on all occasions, I was told it would be fine and that they would be able to complete before the offer expired.
When they set a completion date, they again failed to answer the phones or respond to emails 1 week later I get an email saying that mortgage offer has expired which was for 3 months and they reckoned this was unusually short what the fiddlesticks are they smoking how long do you need?

I had to instruct another Solicitor to carry out the purchase even after emailing everyone at the company informing them that I would be instructing another solicitor, no reply or any communication.

I just want to warn others out there to be careful of these jokers and I would not wish them on my worst enemy.

If anyone would like proof, I have all the emails and timeline to show you a simple house purchase and they failed so miserably to be able to complete in a timely manner with false promises at every turn.

I have logged a complaint to the ombudsmen as I want my deposit money back and costs incurred on a new mortgage offer.

It was our first time selling a property and James made it a very easy and stress free experience.
