Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 38 reviews, most reviewers were unhappy with their experience overall. Many customers found the prices to be too high for the quality of the product received, often describing the food as below standard, tasteless, or poorly prepared. Issues with food temperature, small portions, and dishes not meeting expectations were frequently mentioned. However, some people were satisfied with the staff, describing them as friendly, attentive, and helpful, and a few reviewers also found the service to be good. Conversely, a small portion of people felt that the service was lacking, with long wait times for drinks and food, and some encounters with rude or dismissive staff.

Poor, lost the will to please. Service OK, just, food poor especially the steak which was extremely tough. Dessert OK but not exciting. Overall mediocre, I won't bother again and not cheap.

Food order took 45 minutes & not hot

Bistrot Pierre, Mumbles, Swansea
Food order took 45 minutes to be delivered to the table.
No indication of a long wait was given when the order was taken.
Despite the long wait, the food was not hot, it was marginally better than lukewarm.
And the cheese in a sandwich was dried at the edges.

Visited Bistro Pierre in Button Street Liverpool yesterday evening. There were 4 of us. We hadn't booked but were welcomed very warmly by Sam.
The food was excellent, definitely recommend the sea bass and I was able to use my Taste card which reduced the overall bill by 25% which made for a great evening.
We interacted with Sam and Sean who were brilliant members of staff. A credit to the company.
Will definitely visit again soon.

Bistropierre Nottingham- a real…

Bistropierre Nottingham- a real disappointment and most probably the last time I eat at this chain of restaurant's. As a lover of French cuisine and French standards the food was not acceptable. If this had been in France I would have sent both dishes back. The French onion soup was rather tasteless, the onions overpowered by too much bread and cheese in a bowl seemingly too small. The main course of salmon fish cake was poor, the potatoes cold and undercooked, the salad limp and clearly not as fresh as one would expect. All in all a very poor experience. The French experience was far from French. British standards? High prices and poor quality. Avoid this restaurant. I find the restaurant “French Living” more in the tradition of real French cuisine and French ambience.

Good breakfast

Not had a decent meal at Nottingham for a long time but decided to give the breakfast a go, it was really nice, coffee was good too, service was very good, might give it another go for a main meal which hopefully have improved.

Extremely disappointing

I had an extremely disappointing experience at your Torquay branch on 31st December 2025. Despite clearly stating food intolerances during booking, staff were unhelpful and contradictory regarding suitable options. We waited over an hour for starters and mains, and one guest became unwell shortly after eating. The manager was dismissive and unprofessional, and both myself and another guest fell ill overnight. This experience reflects poor service, food safety issues, and a lack of care for customers.

Poor quality food

Visited Bistro Derby for Boxing Day meal. Service was pretty good (though not much acknowledgement when leaving) The waitress that looked after us was very good so can’t fault her. The issue is the quality of the food. I’ve been visiting for about 20 years on various occasions and it seems that gradually the quality has gone down, however this is the first time I’ve left a review as our latest visit was the worst. I recommend Pierre’s to my family but was left apologising to them. I had the salmon which was lovely but the potato squares which were served with it had a sort of stale texture, luckily I’d ordered a side of dauphinois . Two guests had Christmas dinners which also had these unpleasant potatoes instead of proper roasties and the Brussels were mushed up. One guest had flat iron steak and another had rump, both complained of the poor quality and how little sauce came with it, at an added charge. The Christmas pudding was more like cheap cake/pudding dotted with fruit. So the whole experience was a let down. Think we’ll start going back to the Pepperpot.

Very very poor service

Booked at a table at mumbles Pierre for 6 people at 3pm. Waited in the entrance soaking wet multiple waiters walked past no greeting for 15mins. Told they could only give us a table for 4 people and was met with disgusting attitude. Manager Iestyn arrived to say the booking didn’t update which is incorrect as I phone ahead. I was then told I could sit at another table which again would not fit 6 people would fit max 4 people. Then told nothing else they could do zero apology no attempt to accommodate us. Luckily we went in the oyster house next door who provided the complete opposite experience, fantastic service and very accommodating and despite being busy made adjustments for us after explaining our experience. Staff at Pierre’s have no interest and need several lessons in customer service along with the manager.

Not worth the money for Christmas Day.

Attended as a group of 8 for Christmas dinner on Christmas Day. A short run down, we were “greeted” by a very rude man who was literally shouting at us to not have the 2 doors open (as we were walking in?), took over 45 minutes for first round of drinks to come, mains were a mixture of warm and cold, and just a general bad atmosphere as we were packed in like sardines.

Christmas day meal Eastbourne

We booked into Eastbourne for the Christmas Day meal. We were very underwhelmed by the offering paying £90 for what was quite a basic presented meal.
I wouldn’t bother again on Christmas Day. Service was a bit ad hoc but obviously staff have given up their day to try and makers others memorable so you have to appreciate what they do. Certainly not a very well presented meal at all .

Bistrot Pierre Plymouth!

I have been taking my staff to Bistrot Pierre every year for our Christmas party and have done for years! I like the atmosphere, the surroundings and the quality of food. Never had a problem.

However this year was very different.
4 of us had the Turkey. It was absolutely vile, undercooked, soggy, beige vegetables. The pigs in blankets were grey and raw. My staff were questioning whether it was “safe to eat”. Pushing their food around on the plate and leaving most of it. It looked and tasted like a microwave meal.
I was extremely embarrassed as I was paying for this as a treat for them and it actually made me look bad!
£355 our bill came to and I left embarrassed that I had let my team down. Half of them were new and had never been before so this was a very bad first impression for them.

I didn’t say anything at the time as I did not want to embarrass either the waitress who was serving us (who I want to make very clear was lovely and we had no problem with) or my staff by making a scene.

I emailed the Bistrot manager the following morning expressing this. No response and 2 days later sent a follow up email. Then to get a response basically insinuating that I was lying! That I said nothing at the time. I had already explained why I didn’t feel comfortable at the time to say anything but that was ignored. That everything was eaten. Which is certainly wasn’t! Zero apology and that they were going to have to check the cctv (because again I’m a liar apparently)
This is absolutely disgusting customer service. Especially to a loyal customer who has been bringing their staff to you for years!
Do better Bistrot Pierre!

Go to Miller & Carter

Nottingham.
FOOD IS OKAY. SERVICE COULD BE BETTER. OVERPRICED & OVER RATED
We went to celebrate my daughter’s birthday. My dishes were okay, I would recommend the duck salad starter & duck al orange main.
The lamb dish is stingy, more onions & gravy rather than lamb and carrots were just boiled.
The service was okay we appreciated the honesty however there was no come back to our table to ask about our dishes and no goodbye when we were leaving.
After spending over £200, that’s something you don’t forget.
Overall food is not bad, but overpriced and the service is lacking. I will not be going back and will recommend Miller & Carter over Bistrot Pierre.

Overpriced

Had Goats Cheese Ratatouille. Came in a very small dish. Few slices of each vegetable - no more than £1 worth at a stretch. Few slices of Goats Cheese and a cold baguette. For this i paid £17. I could have prepared this in my kitchen, with a warm baguette, for a couple of pounds tops. Will not go again

My wife has already given you a very poor review following our visit to your Stratford upon Avon restaurant, which I am not going to repeat.
What I want to say, positively, which my wife omitted to mention, was that your manager of the evening, a young man of S E Asian/British descent, recognised how poor our experience had been and endeavoured to rectify this by reducing the bill somewhat and knocking off the discretionary tip. To his credit, he did his best on a pretty terrible evening. Our thanks go to him.
