Birdneed.life - I am posting this to warn others

I am posting this to warn other consumers.

I placed an order on birdneed.life that clearly displayed a total of $27.94 at checkout ($22.99 product + $4.95 shipping). I saved screenshots of the transaction. After completing the purchase, my payment method was charged $48.89. The additional charges were not disclosed prior to checkout and I did not authorize these additional charges.

When I contacted customer support immediately, I was told the extra amount was for “handling, insurance, and other fees,” which were only explained after my card was charged. I requested a full refund based on the discrepancy.

The customer support experience itself was also concerning. During the live chat:
• The agent repeatedly disappeared for extended periods after asking for information.
• I was asked for my email and order number, which I provided.
• After no response for over 11 minutes, I left the chat to look up how to resolve the issue.
• When I returned, the agent asked if I was still there and then requested the same information again, despite it already being provided.
• Shortly after, I was told the order was now “processing” and could no longer be refunded.

This sequence felt designed to delay the conversation until cancellation was no longer an option, rather than to resolve the billing issue in good faith. This was a series of deliberate deceptions and this seller is a committing fraud.

I retained screenshots of the checkout total, the higher charge, and the entire chat transcript.

Consumers should be extremely cautious. Verify your payment statement carefully, as the amount charged may not match the price shown at checkout, and customer support may delay responses until refund options are limited.

Pursue having your bank rescind payment of the charges and report scammers like them to federal agencies.
