Disappointing

Our fixed term energy supply which BillBuddy set up, comes to an end in 6 days, we had a Email from our supplier with the offers for renewing, send BillBuddy 5 emails for advice and even filled out their online form but not a single reply, we have had to go alone and use our own judgement on this.
Thanks for nothing BillBuddy Very Unprofessional !!!!!!!!!!!

Reble Energy rip off

I don't know why Bill Buddy recommended Reble Energy.
Thet constantly over charge in September I had to insist that they repaid me £284 out of o £430 Credit only for to double my monthly payment the following month and once again i demaned repayment of £271 which they did begrudgingly over three payments.
Reble Energy have finally reduced my mounthly direc debit payment but it still muchto high.
I can't wait for the contract to end.
Peter.

Switching Energy Suppliers

I have adjusted the star rating from 1 to 3 mainly because of the quick professional response by customer services. In addition I edited my review to be fairer to BillBuddy.

However, I still have concerns reading previous negative reviews but note that these are predominately aimed at switches to Rebel Energy and the way in which Rebel Energy interacts with customers that have been switched over to them.

Rebel Energy attempted to switch my electric twice this year from EON to Rebel totally unsolicited. When questioned and advised that this request was not made by me, Rebel Energy informed me that they got instructions from BillBuddy. This erroneous and unsolicited transfer has now been stopped and BillBuddy have instructed Rebel Energy not to transfer my account over at any time in the furure.
Fortunately, EON advised me in time to put a stop to it.

Be careful When using any switching site and ensure you have done research on your new provider. However, I would most certainly avoid using REBEL ENERGY also known as Cilleni Energy Supply Ltd.

Report all incidents to Ofgem and The Ombudsman,

Both Companies were difficult to contact initially as emails to complaints at Rebel Energy were being returned so you need to use the help email or online chat.

Use support email for Bill Buddy

I will add that once you get through and get a response the problem did appear to be solved and an explanation given. However, my initial concerns were, in particular, at this time, because of high energy prices and my stress levels went off the scale

Most providers use ECHOE database to obtain meter identification numbers at a given address, but it would appear that this does contain inaccuracies.

All providers under their licensing agreements section 14A.10 and 14A.11 have to ensure that due care is taken to avoid erroneous transfers.

I found Ofgem very helpful with being steered in the right direction. If all else fails report any issues to the ombudsmen.

Hi I found the customer service good…

Hi I found the customer service good and concise. I had completed the process for switch, but the switch has not happened and the supplier say they have no knowledge of it. I emailed this to Bill Buddy and I am waiting for a response so still not concluded.
I have used them prior to this and the switch went smoothly and easily.

Absolute scammers

Absolute scammers. Put me on Rebel after I was with Shell who were charging £62 a month. Yes I do know Shell would have increased the tariff but Bill Buddy said I’d be better withRebel who have taken two payments of £143 a month. A lot, but it’s the same for everyone. We all know that. However, today I get an email from Rebel saying I’m using MORE energy than usual (in the middle of summer) and I now have to pay £201 a month. I’m 75, live alone and have actually gone to great lengths to economise knowing this is a serious problem everyone is facing at the moment. But this is ludicrous. I have a smart meter which tells me I’m using on average £3.50 a day for both gas and electric. So where are they getting their figures from. I’ve tried to access Rebel account and it’s not there, just an information website, same with Bill Buddy. These are both scam companies cashing in on the vulnerable and need to be exposed.

Avoid Bill Buddy…

I previously expressed my disgust with regards to Bill Buddy transferring me to Rebel Energy. Since then, I spoke to my previous supplier (Shell Energy) who agreed to take back my gas and electric - that was on the 17th June. So far (24th July) Shell have managed to take back the Gas but Rebel Energy are refusing to transfer the Electric back. This is causing me a lot of heartache and upset as Rebel continue to take an extortionate amount from my account, Just to say thank you again Bill Buddy for making my life a complete mess, and from reading other peoples comments I am not alone.

I've just had the same experience as the lady below...
( quote …I have just had my bill doubled switching from Scottish Power to a company named Rebel, I do not recall agreeing to this switch and why would I agree to switch to a company charging me double the amount of my current provider, I'm a single parent and my bank account has just been emptied paying this first bill, I had no idea it was happening. Not as much as a confirmation email before these people seemed to feel they had the right to take this much needed money from my account. How is this even possible? Who is keeping a check on this company who obviously hold this power and seem to hand over bank details to anyone they feel fit without confirmation.. clicked a button to have a look at offers and it started transferring me !!!)

Continued ...
I usually pay about £200 a month for gas and electricity... first bill from Rebel is £532 !!!!
Come on Billy Buddy, sort it out immediately or transfer me back to Scottish Power

If you move home you could get stung!

I set up a Bill Buddy account over a year ago and initially they worked very well, however early in 2022, I moved in to a 1 bedroomed flat. My gas and electricity were initially supplied by Scottish Power for £175 a month. I found a cheaper tariff online with EDF for £127 a month- which at over £1500 a year I still considered expensive for my purposes as I am at work most of the daytime, and it only takes half an hour to heat my flat.

Shortly after I had moved I saw that Bill Buddy had set up a Direct Debit with Rebel Energy for £232.47. I received no paperwork for Rebel Energy and no other notice. Trusting Bill Buddy I thought that perhaps this must be a quarterly payment, so about £83 a month- a slight saving on the £127 I was paying with EDF, and an amount I would consider reasonable for a single working guy in a 1 bedroom flat to be paying. I The first Direct Debit payment was taken on 10th June.

I was then informed in early July that another £232.47 was going to be deducted by Direct Debit on 10th July. I then realised that I was on a far more expensive tariff, and would be paying £2790 a year for my gas and electricity(!!!). There's no way that this could be justified. It’s surely above the energy price cap. I live on my own in a 1 bedroom flat and am out at work most of the daytime hours, so not using gas / electricity between 7:30 am and 6:30 pm. What on earth were Bill Buddy thinking by putting me on such a tariff?

It then turned out that I was still paying EDF for my gas and electricity as well, so appeared to be paying twice for my fuel bills. I contacted Rebel Energy to find out what was going on and found out that the Direct Debit had been set up to pay for gas and electricity at a previous address! I was paying the bills for somebody else! I had to then contact my bank and raise an indemnity to get back the money paid by Direct Debit as Rebel Energy were not able to refund the money they had taken.

Bill Buddy are supposed to save money by switching me to a better tariff. Do they really consider £2790 a year for energy bills a good tariff? I certainly don't. In fact I challenge you to find a more unsuitable and expensive tariff than this!

Whilst I was on the phone I was told by the Rebel Energy representative that Bill Buddy were proving a bit of a problem for them as many customers had been set up with Direct Debits for properties that they may have vacated up to 5 years previously. If I had not checked my accounts in great detail, I could have been thousands of pounds out of pocket, and if I don't cancel it could happen again. So- if you have recently moved home, beware!

After all this inconvenience I have lost all confidence in Bill Buddy, I will find my own tariffs from now on.

Emails to Billbuddy ignored

I've received a very poor response from Billbuddy following the recent tech issues that occurred, there was no daily draw, tried to establish the reason behind it, sent 2 emails neither acknowledged?
One was to cancel my account but heard nothing, so this review is my last attempt to see if it triggers a response from them
If they have a back load of emails to respond to, I would understand, but ignored emails are not acceptable

We had a lot of users asking us for a fixed rate and this is the best one we could get. With prices set to rocket again in October, we wanted to give the option of piece of mind. Sorry this wasn't the right tariff for you at this time!
