Bike and Boot Peak District

The good stuff: A new, modern hotel, rooms like a nice version of a travel lodge. I know I'm not selling it there, but fair to say my small double was fine for me, I'd have been happy there for a several nights.

The cost, I got a good price for the Peak District, just after peak season.

The staff: really good.

Was it clean: heck yes it was.

Bareca: Nice, good atmosphere in the evening, nice bar and they do cocktails. I went midweek and was quickly served, I could see this being busy on a weekend in peak season or a bank holiday, there might be a wait for tables.

The neither here nor there for me: It's dog friendly. I don't have a dog, but I quite like them, so don't have a problem with them being around. If you have a dog, this is great (you might want to add a star to this review score). If you have an allergy issue with furry animals, don't go there (you might want to take a couple of stars off this review score).

The bad: My room was on the front of the hotel facing the road. The windows are not up to Premier Inn standards, you can really hear the traffic on the A road outside. I took a star off for this as I like it quiet at night, you might not be so bothered, in which case, add the star to the score.

They don't have A/C, not bad for most of the year, but in the middle of summer!

Great staff some minor issues

First of all the really great thing about this hotel is the staff. Every single one was so helpful and attentive, if they saw you they asked if you needed help - something you don't get in every establishment. We travel a lot with our dog and to find a really dog friendly hotel is rare. Dogs allowed everywhere and a handy dog wash for those sandy paws. We were to here for two nights and we found the food good but nothing exceptional.
Now to the minor issues. It took us 25 mins to find free on road parking. It was our first time in Scarborough and I hadn't expected this to be such an issue. Perhaps the lovely sunny weather brought forth more daytrippers than normal for an autumn weekend? Staff were very helpful suggesting roads we might try and they do provide a map and permit. After a long drive you just want to park and flop. Finally, the sink in our room was blocked. We informed reception but it stayed that way for the duration. So, only minor issues and nothing to stop our enjoyment. Would we return, yes but we are giving there Peak District hotel a go before then! It's much closer and has bags of parking 😁

Poor hotel, poor company

The room was looking very tired and, when we went to use the bathroom there was an awful smell of sewerage. As it was late and the hotel is unmanned at night, we mentioned it in the morning.
We were moved to a different room which smelt ok until, again in the evening, the same smell started in this room too.
The food in the restaurant was poor. Breakfast was really basic and bacon like leather.
We emailed the company and they failed to respond.
This is not a cheap hotel and we expected far better
