Absolutely Dreadful

First, of the ticket tout was extremely inappropriate with my daughter and made her feel very uncomfortable.
We wanted to ride an open top bus as it was a warm day and he told us that bus stop five there would be one along in 10 minutes. We waited to find the bus was an enclosed standard bus. I walked back to the ticket tout and he told me that the right bus would be along shortly. He then turned up at bus stop five and told us to follow him to bus stop six, as the bus we wanted would be the next bus to arrive, the open top one. Again, he was extremely overfamiliar with my daughter, despite us, asking him not to be.
The bus WAS NOT open top because all the open top ones has stopped running for the winter season which he would have known.
He also asked just to make sure that we threw the tickets in the bin as he didn’t want the QR codes being scanned for tax purposes.
On our return to the UK, it transpired that the four tickets we had paid cash for were all put through onto our other family members Visa cards (that they had used to purchase their two tickets) so he could pocket the cash. I have tried to report him with the company, but suffice to say they’re not interested.
Furthermore, the bus was full stifling hot, and as a result, the windows were all steamed up with condensation so you couldn’t actually see anything.
Truly, awful experience made worse by the fact that we were conned.

Terrible experience 12.07.25

Terrible experience 12.07.25, 16.30- 18– DO NOT RECOMMEND!

This was a complete scam. We were forced to change buses without any explanation. The second driver drove dangerously fast, making the ride very stressful and unsafe. Stop 18 was skipped entirely, even though we were waiting for it. No communication, no apology.

We were shocked by how unprofessional the service was. Definitely not worth the money. I will never do this again and strongly advise others to avoid this company.
Very disappointing.

Grave mistake booking Big Bus Hot on Hot off!

we made the grave mistake of using Big Bus in Budapest, Venice and Prague.
It was never on time! We renamed Big Bus Hop on Hop off bus, the” hot on hot off bus” and with the WORST customer service we’ve ever experienced. In the United states, we are not allowed to leave dogs in a hot car, but these operators has no trouble keeping us hostage on the bus with no communication or poor announcements that were not incoherent. There no air conditioning and no breeze as we sat in dripping sweat WONDERING when we depart again. We will never use this vendor again.
Venice Big Bus’hop on hop off bus again a disaster….so hot it was unbearable. Customer service was dismal at best. Our very last trip with them, offered a GREEN bus with air!!!!! We couldn’t believe it and were relieved for a few miles!

Worst Hop on Hop off bus service ever

Worst Hop on Hop off bus service ever. We had just one day to spend in Budapest, and had a plan to buy the 24-hr city card, the agent convinced us to get the Hop on
Hop off bus tickets instead which was more expensive.

The promises the agent made and what they gave instead:
1. They said that the buses arrive within 20 mins which obliviously wasn't true. Every time we waited for more than 30 mins for the bus to arrive.
2. They claim their service starts at 9 am but the first service started at 10 am, was standing at the bus stop for more than 40 mins in front of St Peter's Basilica. If we knew before, would have started our tour with that place first.
3. They say it is guided tour, but half the headsets don't work.
4. They said you can sit in the bus for as long as you want but we were made to disembark at stop 4 (after waiting 40 mins) for this bus because of technical issues. The next bus arrived 1 hour later which was already full. Also, you need to leave the bus at stop 9 and change buses if you need to go the other side of the city.
5. They offer a boat tour which they claim you can take as many times as you want but the only drop off time is when the boat has just left the dock. The boat tour takes place hourly so you can either wait nearly 50 mins for just one thing or continue on the bus. They never align it purposely and lure you with false claims.
6. The agent said if you have any issues during the day just come to the office and we will sort it out. After sitting in the bus for nearly 30 mins, we realized that we won't be able to make the last boat tour at 5 pm, I went to the office, this time the agent different than the one who sold us the tickets berated us saying we should plan our trip better! The whole purpose of the Hop on Hop off service was to make the trip easier for tourist like us. Each time if you needed to visit Buda side, you needed to disembark. Honestly worst bus tour ever and this made us resent Budapest city and its people itself. Waste of money and time, and it wasn't even a weekend. We did this tour on a Wednesday!

Do not recommend this service at all especially after the appalling behavior of the employees.

fantastic value for money, service brilliant

fantastic value for money, we got the deluxe 3 day ticket and so much included! the service was brilliant, the bus drivers, agents, the free walking tour with Petra was great, she knows a lot! wouldn't do the night tour again as couldn't hardly see with the plastic windows, and they covered a lot of the city streets which didn't hold much more interest at night than day, would have like a bit more time around the river, the river cruise staff weren't as friendly as all the others. a shout out to Shushan (think that's how it's spelt) he was brilliant!

WARNING. Ripped Off and Assaulted by Sales Girl

WARNING! WE WERE RIPPED OFF AND THEN PHYSICALLY ASSAULTED BY SALES GIRL.
This company will rip you off. We were approached by a sales girl in front of the train station. She was extremely aggressive. We were holding a brochure to a different company and when that salesperson mentioned we might be looking for him, she angrily snapped at him and blocked his way to reach us. That should have been first clue.
We told her we had just a few hours in the city and needed a 1 Day Pass on just one line. She acted like she didn’t speak English and we were making attempts to communicate what we needed (we learned later she spoke perfect English). She was telling us there was only one package available and we would point to the price list on her clipboard for the 1 DAY PASS. She nodded as though she understood. We completed the transaction and paid with credit card.
As we were waiting for the bus we noticed others had a different looking ticket. We then saw she sold us a 2 Day pass with a river cruise. We turned around within minutes of making the sale with her and asked for her to cancel it and give us the 1 Day pass. She aggressively began arguing that we asked for the 2 day pass, which we never did. She claimed she was not able to refund our money and began waving her hand as though to say “get out of here”. She then walked away. We followed her telling her we wanted our money back. By that time we were both shouting with her claiming my husband changed his mind while I was taking photos and asked for the 2 day. That’s ridiculous. We only had 1 day in Budapest. My husband would never have asked for the 2 day. She was lying.
The other bus salespeople came over and began arguing with her to refund our money and give us the 1 day. Two other bus company employees were helping us and she pushed one of them. He was on his cellphone calling the police. He gave us directions to Big Bus main office and told us to go there to get our money back. I asked the girl for her name and she refused to give it to me, so I tried to snap her photo. She grabbed my phone out of my hand and threw it down.
The bus arrived and we lined up to get on it to go to their office. As I was in line she ran up behind me and slugged me in the back and ran off down the street. We arrived at the office and we were put on the phone with the president of the company. He claimed he was not able to refund our money for 5 days. He gave us tix for a tram to take us to the top of Castle Hill. We felt we had no choice, but to take them.
We DO NOT recommend you use this company. They will cheat you and rip you off. Use any other company, but this one. We will never use Big Bus anywhere in the world now.

Big Bus Tour was a Delight

The Big Bus Tour provides a tour around Budapest allowing you to Hop On or Off to explore the sites and interests in detail. We purchased the 3 day deluxe package and took advantage of the Danube river sightseeing tour, which we took at night to enjoy the lights. All the Big Bus Tour personnel were helpful whatever stop we were at. We also used the Buda Castle shuttle to get up the hill and tour around some of the Buda sights. We only wish the Tour had more buses like some of the other tours because we had to wait at times for the buses to arrive at the stops while it seemed like other companies had buses arriving earlier and more frequently.

We took the 3 day pass

We took the 3 day pass. The first 2 days were fine. However on the 3rd day we waited 40 minutes without any bus arriving and ended up walking to our destination.
