Bidtotrip - Hotel in Paris

Booked a hotel in Paris using BidToTrip. Such a great app, I got a 4-starred hotel for 70Euro in a really central location (walking distance from Opera).
Everything was smooth: it took me a few minutes to win the voucher, and then after a day the hotel was reserved for me. Also perfect coordination with the hotel, where my booking was properly registered. Really a bargain for such a location. Highly recommended!

Doing "Their Best" Apparently They Aspired to Mediocrity And Still Missed

As others have mentioned it is very clear the staff / automated bidders were used by this company to boost the rate above the required threshold and it's not a problem if one them win because it makes it look like someone got an absolute bargain. Always the same handful of names. Now they've changed their process to be cash only instead of buying points they seem to be advertising a minimum bid so it may be less prevalent but buyer beware as rates are often cheaper elsewhere without subjecting yourself to this disreputable blight on the travel industry.

The day before we were due to fly I tried to download my voucher and was met with and error screen. They icon, that they dismissed as "being tiny" was still of a telephone with 24 in it suggesting they had 24 telephone support - they do not, this is a ticket system and the work office hours for Italy regardless of their UK registered address.

I flagged all of this up to their CEO and asked her if she felt my experience was in any way adequate. I was told we're a new company (over 1 year old now so they have had time to put fallback measures in place) and they were "doing their best". I said deliberately misleading customers and where you know you have a system outage but don't take proactive steps to ensure those affected would have the necessary documentation by email would have been doing their best and evidently there is a lot of room for improvement, she blocked me at this point on LinkedIn which sums up the couldn't care less attitude displayed by other staff too. I note their only 5 star review is in Italian and I seriously doubt it's genuine either.

Even on the voucher the don't say how the room will be paid for to the hotel and so there was confusion on check out as to who's card was in their system.

I'm still getting emails after unsubscribing so I look forward to May when I can take this straight to the ICO and ensure the GDPR fines are levied against them, they obviously think they can do what the hell they like. Despite knowing full well my language preferences these emails are also in Italian only, not helpful when they're very wordy so the online translating tools are limited. They could have been important but they looked like fluffy promo emails and the small part I did translate wasn't worth the effort.
