I purchased a used BestMow robotic…
I purchased a used BestMow robotic mower after doing extensive research. At the time, there was no clear information on their website or in public forums about restrictions on used units or activation code requirements. The mower worked well for about three weeks—until BestMow implemented a new activation code system that rendered my unit unusable.
Since I bought it secondhand, I didn’t have an activation code. When I contacted BestMow’s customer support, I was met with hostility and accusations. They implied I had either been scammed or stolen the unit, despite me having proof of purchase. They refused to help or offer any resolution.
What’s worse is that there’s a rumor circulating that some original owners were signing up for BestMow’s subscription service (at $60/month), using the mower for a short time, and then selling it online. These were legitimate sales, yet BestMow seems to have no system in place to support secondhand buyers. Instead, they punish them by locking the device and refusing to issue new activation codes.
This is a serious flaw in their business model. If they’re going to allow subscription-based access, they need to clearly communicate the risks of buying used and offer a way to transfer ownership. As of last week, there was still no warning on their website about this issue.
Bottom line: BestMow may offer decent hardware, but their customer service and anti-theft policies are deeply flawed and anti-consumer. If you're considering a robotic mower, I strongly recommend looking at other brands that respect their customers and offer better support for secondhand ownership.
One big headache
This lawnmower is more trouble than it's worth. It took several days to set up. I had to call customer service for help with it. First time I made an appointment, the rep never showed up. So I had to call back and ask where they are. Your home wifi must be strong enough to reach outside, and the little satellite they give you to install has to have a minimum number of satellites in the area for it to work (there are 2 things, I cannot remember,but they do not tell you this when you buy). The lawnmower itself does an OK job. On occasion, I've had to drag it out of being stuck. My lawn has a very slight angle, and the mower struggles to navigate it. Now, the lawnmower will not stay on the charger. It will charge to about 20%, then take off to random spots. Found it in my neighbor's yard the other day. Customer service is crap. I've messaged support on the app,but they take FOREVER to reply. I've tried to schedule a call with customer service,but the page says there is no availability for July or August! Good luck getting an agent on the phone,it's hit or miss. I emailed them in a last ditch attempt. Otherwise, this lawnmower will be returned. It's a giant headache.
Think Long and Hard
Initial ordering was simple, shipping was quick for a large product (1 calendar week) from California to Ohio. Set-up was more than frustrating ending in my request for a return label 24 hours after receiving.
Spent 1 hour on physical setup to meet requirements to obtain adequate gps signal. Pay special attention to this prior to your order. You MUST be able to place 2 pieces of hardware 7ft from any structure with available power to meet the guidelines for gps signal. I was able to meet this very stringent requirement.
After 6 more hours of chatting, calls, reboots, video calls… still the product failed. No offer to exchange for a different device due to defective us it or anything. Simply another request to call me back with more information.
The concept is great, execution has much room for improvement.
Does a great job mowing my lawn
Bestmow does a great job of mowing my lawn! It does not constantly have connectivity issues that other wireless mowers seem to have. Once you set it up and tell it a mowing schedule, it just goes to work and mows when it should. I've tested many robot mowers and most are not as simple as the makers would have you believe, but Bestmow really is.

After 6 weeks
After using this Robot mower for 6 weeks now. I am very happy with how well it works. Great customer service and support. Very pleased with this mower.
Really good performance
The RTK setup was a bit tricky for me until I reached out to customer support. They suggested mounting it on my wall, and so problem solved.
The more this mower works, the better it gets. My first cut was a bit of a mixup since I didn’t realize the height was set to 1 inch. I thought I had to trim my grass before using it, but after adjusting the height, everything went smoothly. My grass was definitely overdue for a trim, about two to three weeks behind but this little machine handled it like a champ.
I did lose a screw, but they send me a replacement. The mower performs well. It’s a real time saver. It has completely transformed the way I take care of my lawn.
I’ve been telling all my friends about it. it is an incredible value for the price. The quality and performance is great. If you’re on the fence, I highly recommend giving it a try you won’t be disappointed.
