I support the other reviews I have seen…
I support the other reviews I have seen on here. Passport control for non-EU (that includes UK) was terrible. I had a 2 hour delay getting through. Then when I went to collect my luggage, the board was no longer displaying my flight so I tried to ask ask someone behind the baggage issue desk and they were unbelievably rude. They finally spat out my carousel number when they finally agreed to look it up (which actually took 2 second literally). I have never known such an unwelcoming airport.
The most inefficient security check…
The most inefficient security check setup ever seen. Traveled most of the world but never seen this inefficient security check setup. If they would rearrange and add more baskets and either a system where a person return the empty basket I trust it could be much better but as is it is terrible.
Staff just standing looking instead of ensuring the process flow. Just be a few of the personal took part in make it flowing it could be better as is but the setup is wrong and staff seems not to care.
This is awful
This is awful. No digital passport scanning for UK or USA passports, no staff working to help and one person for passport control for 500+ people in line, there was two more but they left as their shift ended. Awful.
Consistently worst airport in Europe
Almost 2 hour delay to show your passport on arrival. No information. No staff or infrastructure supporting corridors full of queues, with flight after flight joining the chaos from every angle.
Meanwhile the car parking for those picking you up costs an absolute fortune. This appears to be a purposeful scam to hike parking fees.
There can be no other reason.
UK passport control takes 1 to 2 minutes for all EU, UK and commonwealth countries with clear infrastructure and constantly updated wait times. There is no excuse for it to be so badly managed in a new Berlin airport. Pathetic !

some of the worst staff i’ve ever come into contact with had absolutely no respect for me or my belongings i hope they can realise that people and things are a part of one and not just discard them as nothing they should be ashamed.

Just need to take this opportunity to thank the one member of ground staff who managed the disembarkation of our entire aircraft flying from Bristol - we arrived early and he was the only person available - THANK YOU from one passenger on easyJet K9WPJL4 04/08/2025

On the day 28th/07/25 I took a flight from Berlin to Frankfurt with Lufthansa (flight LH0191 - time 14:45). Unfortunately the flight was delayed AND overbooked; a red haired lady with glasses was operating at the gate and she made the announcement looking for some volunteers to change flight. I’m working as a flight attendant and I offered my seat in order to be seated in the jumpseat (since I have my CC attestation). As i walked to the gate to offer my seat, this lady was VERY VERY rude, unkind and not willing to let me talk. I’m not German, YET she proceeded talking ONLY in German not making me understand what she was saying. She then proceeded talking in German in a very disrespectful way, creating more chaos. I truly believe that someone who works in an airport MUST know how to speak English AND has to behave appropriately, even though the situation might be stressful, as it creates sorrows, confusion and sometimes even anxiety to passengers. I know that sometimes working in a customer service environment “is not easy”, but no one as the right to treat you like that like this lady did in front of hundreds of people. Not only she owns an apology to me and to those passengers, but she shouldn’t be working there in the first place.
Sat in the departure lounge thinking…
Sat in the departure lounge thinking never again. 1 and half hours to get through security which was absolute chaos.. and when we were being checked it was slow painful, with the staff more interested in chatting to themselves. To be honest the airport staff make you feel like a peace of crap. And when we flew in a few days ago it was the same no control. Where was the famous German s efficiency
Passport control ridiculously long..
Passport control ridiculously long... 45 min for passport control only, unpleasant staff
The security check took money…
The security check point 5.3 (an old thin tall man) took all things from my Dad's pocket and there was $50 Euros. They insisted they took it in a small box and recheck through X-ray machine(A lady with yellow-orangeish long hair bundled up). After that, the money was gone. We asked for the money and the police came too. There was no way to find though because they insisted they didn't take it. The old guy even mocked my Dad saying he has too much tissues in the pocket. How disrespectful! I took pictures even but they grabed my phone and deleted it. The worst security. No respect especially for non-native travellers who doesn't speak German. They called the security camera but didn't show us. Our flight was almost missed because of this. Otherwise I would not let go of it. Terrible. Terrible.Terrible experience.
We had a very disappointing experience…
We had a very disappointing experience at the security control in Berlin Brandenburg Airport. The staff were extremely rude and treated us with a complete lack of respect or basic courtesy. We were traveling with our 18-month-old daughter, and despite the fact that there was no line at all, we were forced to wait for a long time without any explanation.
The security officers spoke to us in a condescending and dismissive way, as if we were a burden rather than passengers. There was no empathy, no patience, and certainly no professionalism. This is unacceptable treatment, especially for families traveling with small children.
This experience left a very negative impression and made us feel completely unwelcome. BER seriously needs to improve its staff training and ensure that passengers are treated with dignity and basic human decency.
Worst airport l have ever been to.
Worst airport l have ever been to.
Immigration lines were huge. We told the women who works there that our flight was boarding in 5 mins. She rudly made us wait.
We ended up asking people in queue who had a later flight if we could move nearer to the front.
Why is the UK 🇬🇧 being punished for leaving the EU.
I voted to stay in HORRENDOUS !!!!!
AVOID this airport if at all possible if you are a Brit.

Stop confiscated liquids waste
Check in was fast and easy. Security - good grief! All “liquids” in carry on it fit in a 1 litre bag and anything that doesn’t is THROWN INTO THE GARBAGE!! What is a liquid? Not obvious. It includes hair gel and deodorant and other not really liquidy things. The rule is poorly advertised so knowing to put things in checked bags was too late an option for me. The very strict security woman who gaslighted me (“next time follow the rules”) said I could check the two minor items that didn’t fit into the little plastic bag (an almost empty small toothpaste tube and a small bottle of hand sanitizer) - but my big bag was already checked. “Do people actually do that?” I asked? No, they throw things out, she said. I said, imagine the bureaucrat who came up with this wasteful rule. She only cared that it was the rule. It’s a ridiculous rule, and last year the Zürich airport threw out over 200 tonnes of confiscated liquids. This is not the responsibility of individual travelers, as they gaslighting security woman would have me believe. Travelers deal with security rules that are different everywhere (no such liquids rule in Montreal these days). It’s a bureaucratic glitch that does virtually nothing to ensure safety and is clearly environmentally harmful. My confiscated liquids were minor, but the aggregate impact is not. Please someone in Berlin or Brussels fix it!
We flew from Ireland with hand luggage…
We flew from Ireland with hand luggage only. Our liquids were all under 100ml fitting into the small clear bag. On the way home from Berlin, our bag was pulled and searched. We were told that the Viktor Rolf spice bomb 90ml aftershave had to be confiscated as it looked like a grenade. It made its way over from Ireland and you can buy the same aftershave about 50 feet later in the duty free. The said aftershave was also purchased in another duty free. The police came over to double check and asked where we were flying to and for passports. Flying to Ireland and both Irish passports. Ridiculous and not using common sense.
One of the Worst Airport Check-Ins…
One of the Worst Airport Check-Ins We've Experienced
Our experience at Brandenburg Airport was extremely frustrating. The check-in process was painfully slow — it took us nearly 40 to 50 minutes, which is unacceptable for a modern international airport.
On top of that, we had to deal with overly rigid and senseless rules. For example, we weren’t allowed to bring a tiny jar of jam (0.5 ml) — a harmless souvenir — due to strict EU regulations. While we understand the importance of security, the lack of flexibility and common sense was beyond annoying.
Overall, the inefficiency and unnecessary bureaucracy made this one of the worst airport check-in experiences we've ever had. TheDreadLockGuy
Worst airport I’ve ever experienced how…
Worst airport I’ve ever experienced how can it even be allowed to be so bad
Avoid if you have alternatives.
Third time BER has randomly closed lounge access during flight departure. E2 lounge lift blocked, stairs taped off - zero explanation given to passengers.
Skyteam status still not recognized despite multiple visits. Staff always claims "no data from Air France" and denies access until you argue. This is basic system functionality.
Baggage handling is a disaster. Complained about poorly attached luggage tag during check-in - staff dismissed concerns. Result? Bag went missing, spent 2 hours waiting only to be told it was "rerouted to undeliverable." Previously had luggage forcibly broken open with no explanation whatsoever.
Check-in staff treat passengers like an inconvenience rather than customers. Attitude problem is systemic.
For a major European hub, BER's service standards are unacceptably low. Multiple recurring issues with no improvements. Avoid if you have alternatives.
Worst Airport
Worst airport with extremely rude security personnel. Avoid this airport!
One of the worst experiences we’ve ever…
One of the worst experiences we’ve ever had at an international airport. The security staff at Berlin Brandenburg Airport were outright rude, dismissive, and completely unprofessional — especially toward my family with young children. Medical supplies and baby essentials were treated with suspicion, and explanations were met with condescension and attitude. When we filed a formal complaint, the airport pretended to take it seriously, then abruptly shut down communication, siding with their staff without a proper investigation. It’s clear they care more about protecting their image than treating travelers with respect. Travelers beware — don’t expect accountability or basic human decency here.
Our flight was delayed
Our flight was delayed. No information was given by anyone, neither online or by one of the people "working" at the airport.
Very inefficient and extremely bad on sharing information.
