Can't understand the low reviews

Room was lovely and perfectly clean. I didn't use a black light but I really can't fathom the negative reviews, noticed a small stain on the carpet (read about something similar in a review) but essentially the room was immaculate.

Restaurant/bar nice setting, very good food and helpful staff. Perhaps a little short staffed as per previous reviews but I imagine it's hard to predict demand given the hotels slightly remote location.

We almost booked the Travelodge but I'm so glad we didn't. This was so much nicer and I can't recommend enough.

Family of four staying for Peppa pig world.

Disappointing afternoon tea

Having travelled down from north Dorset we were looking forward to enjoying our afternoon tea (a gift received at Christmas). I had received email notification of the booking and a telephone call the day before to confirm the booking. This call informed me that a wedding was taking place but would be in a separate part of the hotel and would not effect our booking.
On arrival we were served by the receptionist and served hot drinks. We were told the tea would be served in a few minutes. After 25 mins another staff member returned with the food. All was well, a very tasty selection of sandwiches and cakes. This is when it all went wrong. The wedding guests started to enter the lounge area, just a few at first but in the end the whole room was over taken my the guests. This wouldn’t have been so bad but they were very loud and there was a lot of swearing. This RUINED our afternoon. No staff checked back on us and in the end I went to reception to ask for the food to be boxed up so we could leave.
Although the tea was very tasty we were disappointed not to have received better service. We would have appreciated more notice in regards to the wedding as we may have been able to move the date, with one days notice and accommodation booked locally we were unable to change our plans. Unfortunately I won’t be revisiting the new forest hotels or indeed recommending them.

No soundproofing whatsoever I could…

No soundproofing whatsoever I could clearly hear people having a wee. So much so it woke me up!! I barely got 2 hours sleep from peeing, bathroom fan noise, coughing, dogs barking, tv on until 2am and slamming doors. All hotels have slamming doors so can’t really complain about that.

The view from my window was of peeling paint.

Carpet was missing from the stairs leading to my room.

You could hear other rooms tv and bathroom fans.

The chandelier above the bed was covered in cobwebs. Not been dusted for years?????

The shower head was past it’s best the water came out at an angle, went all over the floor and made my clothes wet because the shower curtain wasn’t big enough, so had to spend ages with a rubbish hairdryer trying to dry them. Who needs a bath plug? The bath was obviously blocked. Didn’t need a plug. It soon filled up and kept the water in it.

As for the swimming pool - unless you are a small child you can’t swim in it. Half of it is so shallow you can’t swim in it. Calling it a swimming pool is wrong. I bought a new costume especially. Was so disappointed I could have a good swim. I chose that hotel for the pool. I wanted to swim.

I stayed here before years ago and it was fine. But the hotel wasn’t busy so maybe had no one in the next room to me. Or maybe the part of the hotel they put me is well dodgy.

I never got my free gift and discount vouchers as showing on booking website. I did click here to get them.

I’ve emailed them about my issues. No response.

It’s the first time I’d stayed in a hotel since before Covid. It was a treat for my birthday. I was so tired I wish I hadn’t bothered. They say don’t drive tired. I had a 3 hour drive with no sleep.

Disappointed is an understatement. I don’t earn much so this wasted a lot of money I don’t have to waste.

A bit of dusting costs nothing!!!

I only found out there was an option of having pancakes for breakfast because I heard another tables conversation.
