Do not open an account with this bank, they are terrible! Do not, I repeat, DO NOT bank here, they do not care about you or your well being. I have been with them for 10 years and I have problems with them every single time I call. I have property in Mexico and travel often. Over the last three years I have needed to replace my debit card 3-4 sperate times due to my account being compromised, BCU representatives gave me no options other than standard shipping. They do not offer Overnight services for anything and when you deposit a check, they will hold your check deposits for 21 days with no reason because by law they don't have to give you one. They will not help you when your in an emergency either! I am currently stranded in Sinaloa, MX with a boken down truck and they will not release my check funds to me to get my truck out of the shop and get back to Mexico. They are holding my money until 5/5/26 because they listed the check fraudulent. This check came from my mom. I called them the day I was going to deposit it to let them know it was going to be deposited and I needed the funds immediately and I sent them 2 months worth of bank statements, multiple screen shots, and I even had my moms bank write a letter with the check transaction, copy of the check. I sent them everything that they requested. Every time I called, they wanted something different and each time I sent it they still said they were goin got hold my check even though its not fraudulent. This is the story they are sticking to over a check from my mom which also has the exact same address on it that is on my banking account at BCU. Needless to say, I am ending my business with this bank and going to another credit union.
Deceptive marketing. They will constantly change their terms on you to make sure you're not eligible for the promos they have listed.
Rather than own up to their mistake, they decide to take it out on the customers.
Very poor customer service. They will lure you to be member by opening promo with wearied rules. Online application will tell you that promo is successfully applied and than later they will not respect their own website accepted promotion. Stay far away to protect your hard earned money.

Reply from BCU
I’m extremely disappointed with my experience with BCU Credit Union. I filed a dispute regarding a charge tied to a hotel stay that had serious issues, including concerns about mold that were publicly documented. Despite providing context and trying to explain the situation thoroughly, my claim was denied with little to no meaningful support.
What makes this even more frustrating is that I’ve seen how other financial institutions handle situations like this with care, advocacy, and a genuine effort to protect their members. In my experience, another bank I’ve worked with in the past took the time to investigate thoroughly, communicate clearly, and actually support me through a dispute process. That level of service makes a huge difference, especially as a military spouse who deals with frequent moves and relies on financial institutions to act in good faith.
Unfortunately, I did not feel that same level of support from BCU. The process felt dismissive, and the outcome did not reflect a customer-first approach. Based on this experience, I have closed my account and taking my business elsewhere.
I truly hope BCU reevaluates how they handle member disputes in the future.
Jennifer provided outstanding support with my auto loan at BCU. She handled everything efficiently—from taking my loan on March 20 to having the payoff check sent by March 25—allowing my plan to work perfectly with two months free of payments.
I can be a bit challenging with my questions, but Jennifer was patient, professional, and thorough every step of the way. I truly appreciate her dedication and would highly recommend her to anyone needing expert, attentive service. You have to get the right team member that cares. If dealing with BCU automobile loans, ask for Jennifer. 👍
Terrible checking account. Almost all my online purchases are flagged for fraud and then never go through. You have to call in to do anything with your account and the technology is terrible on the banking account
I've banked with credit unions for over 35 years and Baxter Credit Union is the polar opposite of what I expected. Credit Unions make their members feel like they are appreciated and tend to offer a more personal banking experience. BCU credit union is nothing like what I expected.
BCU pulled a classic bait-and-switch on my mortgage one day before closing. After weeks of proceeding under one ARM structure and rate, they changed the loan to a different ARM product at a higher rate, when I was already effectively locked in and out of alternatives. That alone destroyed any trust.
I paid the loan off quickly just to be done with them—only to discover they assessed a late fee on a ONE-CENT balance. Yes, $0.01. To make it worse, their website is so poorly designed that it was not even possible to pay that balance online, which is how the “late” fee was triggered in the first place.
Customer service is an absolute nightmare:
Endless automated menus
No clear escalation path
No ownership or accountability
You burn time just trying to talk to a human who can actually fix something
This was not a one-off inconvenience—it was a pattern of poor systems, poor communication, and zero customer empathy.
Between the last-minute loan change, nickel-and-diming over a penny, and unusable digital tools, BCU demonstrated that they are not equipped to handle mortgages professionally. I would strongly advise anyone considering a home loan to look elsewhere unless you enjoy surprises at closing and fighting automated phone trees over trivial balances.
As a long-standing member of the organization for over two decades, I have engaged in numerous business transactions with them, ranging from onboarding new members to utilizing online banking and in-person services. Throughout my interactions, I have encountered no negative experiences. Each representative has demonstrated genuine concern for my needs and provided prompt assistance.
In a recent incident where my account was compromised, the organization promptly notified me and implemented measures to prevent the theft of thousands of dollars. Additionally, they expedited the delivery of a replacement card to me during my absence, ensuring that I had access to my funds. The organization’s exceptional support in this matter has been truly commendable.
My card got stolen over a week ago. Fraud dept was quick to contact me and I ordered a new credit card, and requested a rush order. I was told that the card would arrive in 3 business days.
It did not.
When I called about it today it seems that I was charged the $20 rush fee, but the card was sent via standard mail. After haggling with customer service they agreed to send me another one via “rush” order, so my waiting begins again.
This is the second time this same problem has occurred with my personal card and it happened with my spouse and my joint card a few months ago.
I am tired of the shoddy customer service. Really, really tired of it.
Its on the verge of lawyer time, you are refusing to take my payoff payment for my mortgage despite following all you hoops and hurdles. Every day I am calling in for hours at time trying to get you to fix your errors. As a 30 year member I AM DONE WITH YOU !
This was the worst experience of a bank ever. I've only had issues witht them. I was talking with them and each time I was told it was incorrect information each Representative told me. The only reason I used them was due to me working at target once I left the service was horrible take money whenever wanted to what account and let recurring charges continue to happen and with my overdraft at 1500.00 they let it got that high by also adding over draft charges each time. Wow no control over my accounts what so ever!! Plus money was deposited into my checking but they to9k my entire check towards my loan. How are people to pay bills with your institution controlling MY HARD EARNED MONEY! Wow how you trade peplo with there money as well as giving everything we as the people have.
I am writing yet again to express my frustration with the dreadful customer service at Baxter Credit Union. Baxter management has zero regard for wasting customers' time. I have lost countless hours waiting on hold and have often simply hung up after long-drawn-out wait time. And I am not just referring to minutes, I am talking hours.
After finally getting through if you need to get transferred then disconnected is always a frustrating experience. When and it continues to happens, you get to sit on hold again and start all over.
This is not an isolated incident. Baxter's race for automation has resulted in a complete lack of concern for customer time. It seems that you fail to recognize the direct impact of how consumers’ time is wasted while you continue to move farther away from what customers truly want.
Furthermore, there’s your callback system, which leaves customers uncertain about when—or if—they will ever actually receive a return call. It is another way for Baxter to provide minimal real customer service instead of hiring real people to address real issues. More consumer wasted time.
I’ve waiting on hold for over an hour only to find out that the wire transfer department had already closed for the day. This lack of timely support shows that Baxter management never has to deal with disgruntled customers directly. I guarantee that all members of Baxter would not appreciate being treated in this manner.
If you’re willing to give up your life just to wait Baxter out, then perhaps you might eventually get assistance. I did manage to speak with a very helpful representative named Alex, but my issues stem from your systems and the complete disregard for wasted customer time.
I am in the process of transferring all of my accounts out of Baxter ASAP.
Worst bank to use, I currently have them because of my car loan and I cannot wait for this loan to be paid off. I had an account that was charged off and paid and reopened my checking account to make it easier to pay my car loan which is another mission in itself. They will not let me use the atm or mobile deposit and want me to wait 6 months no thank you once my loan is paid I am out do not waste your time with this Credit union
The absolute worst banking institution I've ever seen. Transferred money from one bank to BCU. Placed a hold on the funds. EVEN AFTER THE FUNDS CLEARED they placed a hold for 8 more days. Asked ME to provide proof that the money was deducted. WHAT? Why is that my job? Talked to a CSR, provided a screen shot of my bank's site AND the cancelled checks with BCU stamp on it. Nope, not good enough. Have to contact my bank to send PROOF. Then the CSR asked how I was going to use the funds? What? How is that any of your business? Finally got to a supervisor, who was a buffoon. Told me I had to send information with my bank account on it VIA EMAIL. Told him I don't send that information via email. He said their "servers were secure". How about all the servers in between? Will be closing my account ASAP. DO NOT USE or be prepared for issues.
Third time this credit union paid the bill then took money back. Charging me fees. Customer service doesn’t help. Can’t understand them.
This is causing bills to be late even paid before due date. This is illegal. Will be leaving this credit union and only few months in
This is the WORST bank to bank with. Please run.... I recently had fraudulent activity on my account. They cancel the cars, which is normal. I was told a new card was shipped May 25th, only to find out June 6th my card was sent to the wrong address. I then spoke with someone who claim they will overnight me a new card, since my rent is late now, however that was June 6th and today is June 7th and I haven't received notification on a email about delivery. I have an account with ups and an account with fed ex to where I can see incoming deliveries. I found out I will not receive my card until Monday evening on June 10th. Meaning I have been put in a complete hole. I cannot get a virtual card info to even pay my rent. To add insult to injury, my overdraft protection was taken away from me for 6 months because of fraudulent activity, which I reported it. Horrible leadership, customer service workers
A customer wrote me a bad check. They told me that once the fees were paid that my account would be fine. They lied. I paid the fees and they closed my account with no warning and caused serious paycheck delays. Don't bank with them! With how they do things, at anytime you could not have access to your money until the payment is reissued from your employer
Had a charge on my card I had no idea
I’ve been with this credit union for over a decade. It used to be a really decent company to deal with. I don’t know why it’s gone down hill so badly. Members Services call center isn’t even open on weekends anymore. Life happens every day not just Monday through Friday! I can’t even call before 12 noon on Saturdays anymore if there’s an issue! BCU has DISCONTINUED shared branch banking so I CAN’T GO in person ANYWHERE to deposit or receive funds as there’s ZERO public BCU locations in my city. Mobile deposit on app is problematic and takes many tries before it accepts the uploaded check information. BCU has closed my account WITH funds STILL in it if I allow my money simply sit until a rainy day when I need it, Inactivity, they call it. I DON’T have to constantly use everything I have! It took forever just for them to reopen my account.
