They,ve ruined the market

Barnsley market used to be amazing, you could buy absolutely anything, Just visited after their rebuild of the town centre and market, They have killed it, The old market had character, You could buy absolutely anything, Now they have ruined it, Its a a carbon copy of identical centres in towns around the country, No longer do they have a market where you could get a bargain its now got a few shoe box stalls that sells good higher prices than the supermarkets or high street, Goods are so expensive, I wont be going again

Game of bowling was good but many other problems

I was one of 4 guests booked online for 2 games on Sunday 26 January 2025. The bowling experience was as expected although there were no instructions about how to play so for anyone playing for the first time the scoring system would be difficult to understand. My son had played before so he explained the system to me. The bowling/entertainment area was very noisy due to loud music being played continuously. This made conversation difficult/almost impossible. I am slightly hard of hearing and the loud music meant it was much harder for me to hear what the Reception staff were saying. Luckily my son helped out, again.
The more serious problems were to do with the website, booking system, venue accessibility and environment.
The website is inaccurate and confusing. The website doesn't show the opening hours on a Sunday. Reduced prices for kids and seniors/Concessions are listed but kids' prices don't seem to be available on Sundays. I was unable to book a Concession ticket before the payment for 4 adults' tickets was taken so I immediately emailed to change the booking. 2 days later I still hadn't received a reply so I contacted Superbowl and spoke to the Manager who told me that Concession tickets can only be booked as a "walk-in", not online. I told him this rule is not explained on the website and so I requested a refund of the difference between the full adult price and the Concession price. Unfortunately I would have to contact Head Office for a refund which I didn't want to do so I reluctantly agreed to a free coffee when I visited.
The Superbowl area is on the building's upper floor which can only be accessed by 4 flights of very steep and high stairs or a "guest" lift. Anyone who has difficulty using stairs like these and a phobia of lifts would not be able to enter Superbowl. I personally don't like heights and was shocked to be greeted by the steep and high stairs. The information about reaching the bowling area by steep stairs or a lift and the uncomfortable noise level should be included on the website as part of Superbowl's Accessibility policy. I will not be making a return visit.

The Royal Tapas - Poor Service

We have been eating at The Royal for more than 10 years and always had a great meal. It has recently been taken over and the atmosphere and food choice have gone downhill. We booked last Wednesday for 7.30 pm, and waited 30 mins to be able put a drinks order in and then told they'd be be back in 10 mins to take our food order. We were hungry and not prepared to wait for an unknown food wait.
De-camped and went to the China Court.

I had a phone problem which was immediately solved.

I had tried to fix my phone for a few days, with little success. I discovered, by chance, a phone clinic tucked away in Barnsley centre and I hoped my problem could be solved. After explaining my problem the owner of the The Phone Clinic provided a verbal solution, and without any hesitation said he could do the task immediately.so I left my phone with him. After an hour or so I returned to the shop and to my joy he’d fixed my phone. The gentleman had escalated my problem and immediately had acted upon the solution. Whilst waiting for my repair we chatted. He was willing to share his knowledge and he was extremely helpful and kind. I certainly will return.

POOR HYGIENE STANDARDS Barnsley Market is a lovely Market now…

Barnsley Market is a lovely Market now with all the new shops opening up but the eating area in the lower part of the market down the ramp/steps is a huge disappointment with dirty tables. We have to move dirty plates and trays away everytime we go. Yesterday a young man cleared the table, he had the cleaning spray hanging from his belt, but didn't use it. Very disappointed with extremely poor hygiene standards

Barnsley

Barnsley - keep well away and shop else well. Parking more expensive than Sheffield, Doncaster , Wakefield and even Manchester. They think they have a new shopping centre called glass works - WRONG - it is only a a shopping parade. They don't know the difference and mislead people. The market worst around go to Doncaster much better market or even go to Bury market far more superior. The council has killed Barnsley. If you want a coffee then you have more places to buy a coffee than anything else. Stay well away from Barnsley nothing here for anyone
