Bannister Preston are fabulous!

Bannister Preston dealt with both my house sale and purchase recently: they simply can’t do enough for you! They are knowledgable and professional, helpful and friendly. Would use again in the future and highly recommend :-)

Wills Service offered by Bannister Preston

Visited Banister Preston in Sale to discuss a Property Trust Will. Selma (the specialist para legal representative) was both patient and helpful, taking time to explain clearly the various aspects we need to consider. The process was reassuring, giving confidence to both my wife and I in order that we may move forward positively. Highly recommend Bannister Preston for a professional and friendly service.

Incompetent and Rude!

I had the worst experince with this firm. Rude and Incompetent. After completion of my contract i had very serious questions, to which they didnt even bother to reply or help. I cant believe i paid to be in this mess.

Awful!

Awful!!
Rude people. Very slow process and OVERCHARGE!
Beware! You will be charged more than you should be. We got told we wouldn’t be charged to close a case - 4 months later, debt recovery letter of £120???
Contracts mean nothing to these people so be warned.

Thank you so much Natalie!

Natalie, Barbara and the team at Bannister Preston have been amazing with our house purchase. The whole case from start to finish completed in 6 weeks. We knew when we first instructed them in November that it would be really tight to complete by Christmas, however we made it with 4 days to spare! Natalie was always available when we needed her, and put my mind at rest when we had a slight hiccup with our mortgage close to completion. It felt as though she cared just as much as we did. Cannot fault the service we received and would highly recommend. Thank you so much for everything. Andrea & Chris

Incompetence and Very Slow

Went with BP after being recommended them by a friend of a friend who will now not be re-using them. Oh my what a giant mistake I made.
What should have been a straight forward 10/12 week process of buying property, with one person involved became a 4/5 person job and took just over 9 months.
I know it was a leazehold and right to buy, but I received a letter 1st September from Natalie stating she would be in charge and the process would take 10/12 weeks. Originally was in July, but she was too busy to deal with it until September.
Middle October, after hearing nothing; I do understand we were in tiers due to the covid situation; I phoned only to be told the case had been passed over to Amy. Why! no one knew, or at least told me, so why not earlier?
Amy was to say, the least, not very polite. She hated the fact that I had dyslexia and was so unhelpful it left me speechless and useless that I felt demoralized.
I collected the 'contract' signed it and handed it back with a covering letter in November. Having heard nothing, I phoned on numerous occasions leaving messages. Receiving no replies I spoke to the Conveyancing Manager in January, who informed me that Amy 'thought I had changed my mind'. Why would I sign the contract and did no-one read my letter. He sort of apologized and said he would personally take over my case and contact me the following week.
Case was passed to Michelle - I was away and contacted her when back leaving messages, but nothing.
In February/March I phoned and spoke to Practice Manager who stated she would make sure Michelle phones me and a meeting set up.
There were socially distanced meetings going on everytime I collected/dropped off something, so do not know why I got 'fobbed off'.
Michelle seemed okay enough and I eventually exchanged end of April, which Nick dealt with. I phoned Nick about my questions, but he said he was only doing the exchange and ask Michelle to phone me on her return. She did not. I phoned her.
The bear minimum was done according to what other people/ombudsman says they should have done. Half of my questions fell on deaf ears.
I would certainly NOT recommend - positives the Receptionists were always polite.

Incompetent Divorce Lawyers Avoid

Didn’t redact my address details ex abusive husband knows where me and the children are, when I complained his reply “he will find you anyway”. Wouldn’t put special measures in at court and had me typing up my own statements. I was a legally aided client and got a really shoddy service. Made a complete mess on my financial settlement causing 11 months of delays. It’s taken 11 months to get the proceeds of sale of the matrimonial home as divorce solicitor doesn’t read his correspondence and repeatedly asks same questions and gets you to do his job for him! He then claimed he couldn’t locate the Barrister, I made one phone call and spoke to the Barrister direct! He is extremely rude and patronising. This is now with the Legal Ombudsman. He is unprofessional and doesn’t carry out your instructions and does his own thing! Avoid at all costs and this is not a bogus review !!!

Avoid

I would beg you to avoid this company, staff is very rude and very unprofessional, paying more does not mean better quality unfortunately I learnt that the hard way. They will not carry out the work and you will constantly have to chase it up only to find out nothing has been done.

Very horrible and rude.

Very horrible and rude.

trying to buy a flat.

Gave me two green lights to exchange keys/funds with the building developers only to be told an hour before that there is an issue with the documents, clearly they did not even read prior to giving the green light.

Also very rude assistants.

Excellent service

I have used Bannister Preston twice in the last 6 months, once to sell a house, once to buy. I honestly could not have asked for a better service either time. I actually requested the same Conveyancer for the second time around, Nick Earp, because of his level of care, responsiveness, knowledge of my case, if I asked him to do something he did it immediately, he kept me up to date and really went above and beyond when we were dealing with the seller's nightmare solicitors. The service I received was definitely shown to be in sharp contrast to the service our poor sellers received from their's on what should have been a straight forward sale. I would and have recommended them to people I know and would have no hesitation using them again in the future.

If you want to do most the work yourself pick bannister Preston

A totally painful experience from start to finish. From the moment we first spoke to our solicitor (when she sounded half asleep) we knew it was going to be a mission! Couldn’t have asked for an easier chain (first time buyer and a chain free property) yet the process took nearly 3 months! Risked our sale, no replies, poor communication, not confirming receipt of paperwork, can’t speak on the phone, not chasing up, unprofessional, and made the whole process unbelievably stressful!!! We ported our mortgage so there was no mortgage redemption charge yet it was added to our bill which prevented our exchange on that day. I then had to do the solicitors job and get it sorted because they didn’t know how. Spending my whole day off work putting it right (even our mortgage adviser and lender said what is the solicitor playing it this is standard procedure. The fees I were already given on hard copy were then wrong and the solicitor tried to charge me more so once again I had to ring up and get it sorted with their own finance department who also confirmed the figures the solicitor gave me were wrong. I had to keep ringing up the firm to micro manage the solicitors incompetency.

House Purchase

I recently purchased my first property and overall I was very pleased with how efficient, quick and responsive any queries I had were dealt with by Nick. He made the process easy to understand and any details explained in full. I wouldn't hesitate to use the company again in the future.

Avoid

Avoid. Disappointing experience with Bannister Preston in Sale and I hope to save someone experiencing the same. They assisted me with my divorce back in February, the service was only just 'okay' as there were a number of basic inaccuracies in the paperwork they completed for me (e.g., they selected Civil Partnership instead of Marriage on the divorce forms, etc). Nevertheless, the service was completed and I was invoiced at the end of March 2020. I paid the outstanding amount in full. To my dismay, 3 months later, I received an unexpected invoice for close to £200 for 18 minutes of work and 7 emails, that had been completed at the beginning or March and not included in my original invoice. I'm still very unclear how and why this happened, noone seems to be able to take responsibility (I was told it must have been accounts). There's lots of other Solicitor's out there. I most certainly would NOT recommend Bannister Preston on Washway Road, Sale.

Amazing service

My partner and I are in the process of purchasing our first home from Anwyl Homes. Anwyl recommended us to use Bannister Preston and i am so happy they did.
Mr Chris Newton has been dealing with our purchase and i could not fault him or the service, whenever we have made a query we have received fast detailed and clean responses, which has made the process so much smoother than i could have ever though.

Such a professional service and i will definitely recommend them to friends and family

Great customer service

We went through this company when buying our Redrow home, Redrow let us down massively especially there customer service and lack of sorting things out on our move in day as they got everything wrong, however Bannister were amazing! They did everything possible to get the paperwork corrected and reassured us we would still be completing on the day even when Redrow said we wouldn’t, and yes they stick to there word! Massive thank you to the team! Highly recommend and kept us up to date with everything.

AVOID - Sending other peoples paperwork, don't work on clients behalf.

If I could give less stars I would. Avoid this company. We were pressured to use them through Barratt and they were useless. Pushed us into paying for things immediately. Sent us other peoples paperwork in the post TWICE. Rather than calling us direct, they called Barratt sales office for them to pass a message on. Sure sign that they do not act in the best interest of the client which is what solicitors are meant to do. Sent a huge pile of paper work and simply asked to sign and return, didn't go through anything with us. Never called us once, we tried to call them but just fobbed off with secretary. Very unimpressed, a massive contributing factor to why we pulled out of that house. Found another house went with another solicitors and that was completely pain free. Doesn't have to be as difficult as is made with Bannister Preston. AVOID.

I was recommended Bannister Preston by Karina at FirstMortage.co.uk
I was a complete novice to the whole house buying situation and I'm sure they must have chuckled at my questions. Regular contact was made by email and phone. The process was a quick and clean as it could possibly have been. If ever there was evidence of deliberate slow down as you often hear of with property solicitors, I certainly didn't find it here. Would recommend and WILL very likely use again in the coming years! Thank you Katrina / Emilie for making my purchase painless!
