Have Had Enough of Bank West

They got rid of all their branches, all of their ATM's and have just queued for 45 mins at a post office in Perth to deposit $200
Outrageous, there is no reason to stay with this bank now they have also got rid of qantas and international transactions.

Bankwest

I made three lengthy phone calls to Bankwest about setting up a joint account. At no point was I told that I could not do what I wanted.
In fact I was told I could. On the fourth phone call, when I tried to finalise, I was told I couldn't do what I wanted. I was told different details about joint accounts and how many I can have with different people. After delays due to different advice, I thought I had things sorted but was told I couldn't open the account. And they kept saying if we had a bricks and mortar bank we could help you. Really frustrating and a waste of time.

Terrible for overseas travel

I have several banks that I use in Australia. After having my phone stolen with my Bank West debit card in the case overseas, Bank West was by far the most difficult to deal with in trying to block the card, retrieve my PAN number, request refunds for the fraudulent transactions and request a new card. If it wasn't for the fact I had my credit card in my suitcase at the time, I literally would've been stranded in Belgium with no way to access my money. As soon as I arrived back at the hotel, I called Bank West on a friend's phone and after spending close to an hour on the phone your staff were unable to verify me. Even so, I advised the card had been stolen and requested them to put a block on it. The next day, Bank West sent me an email advising that there were suspicious transactions on the account. I replied advising that I had already told Bank West that the the card had been stolen. The fraudulent transactions of $350 + could have been avoided if Bank West has simply listened the first time. After missing their fraud department's call and replying via email with appropriate hours to call noting the time difference, they did not attempt again - I had to call them several times. Not only this but when I returned to Australia, upon activating my "new" debit card received in the mail I realised Bank West had sent me a replacement debit card with the same card number as the one that was stolen. The only one I was able to activate in the app was for a new card that I did not have. Bank West then cancelled this new card (preventing me from using it on Apple Pay). I now have to wait another 5-7 days to receive another new debit card with another card number. I honestly can't believe how difficult Bank West makes it for people whose cards have been stolen overseas to recover their funds and banking details, especially when Bank West advertises themselves as being the best bank for overseas travellers.

Data stalking coersion.

First they shut down all their stores. Now they're demanding you let them collect more data and information about you. And if you don't agree? Then you can't access your own money. This isn't a choice, it's coercion.

Stay away, terrible bank

I’ve been with this bank my entire life. They’re absolutely awful. I can’t recommend strongly enough not banking with them; particularly if travelling overseas. On a few occasions, like purchasing travel insurance for a trip I informed the bank about, they froze my accounts. I was left with no money, stranded, and the process to unfreeze my accounts was completely shambolic. I’ve heard nothing but negative reviews of the bank and persisted with them… what a mistake that was. Never again.

Bankwest/CBA, get stuffed.

After receiving an email from Bankwest regarding their new so called 'behavioural security’ policy.

I see this as complete crap, I understand that with this new policy, they will share all information that they gather with 3rd parties, just how is that secure?

And you have no choice but to agree or lose access to your accounts, just how is that legal?

Their new 'behavioural security’ policy is not secure in my opinion.

Bankwest claims, in their email, that they will monitor keystokes, swipes etc in order to detect abuse of your account, but how can they, unless they force you to load 3rd party software into your PC/mobile phone so they can track your online banking activities.

I have decided that after 25 years as a Bankwest customer to take my business elsewhere.

Bankwest/CBA, get stuffed, you have lost my business.

I'd give 0 stars if I could, and I was trying to give them money!

Tried to open a new account online. These are all the things that happened along the way.
Could start my application on my laptop but had to switch to the mobile app to complete it.
Did my ID verification via the app but it couldn't read my drivers licence correctly and so kept failing the ID. I wasn't allowed to just provide my licence details - it had to scan the actual licence in my hand.
Got an email saying I failed the ID so I'd have to fill out a form and get verified at the post office. Did that.
Didn't say anything on the form or anywhere else what would happen next.
Logged in to my customer dashboard and there was no info there to say I had started an account application and submitted ID verification.
No email from BankWest to say they had received the verification.
Had to get on to chat. Person said they would look into it. After a few minutes I asked if they were still there. Was told I wasn't being patient enough and that they serve multiple customers at a time!
Eventually told that they had received my verification but it would need to be checked by a case officer, in 3-5 business days time.
At this point had had enough so said I actually wanted to cancel my application.
Told they would request that but that I wouldn't get any confirmation when the cancellation had been actioned. If I wanted to know I had to log on to chat in 3-5 business days and ask.
I've opened accounts with other banks big and small and I've never had so much trouble trying to be a customer. I've been able to have my ID verified as part of the process and get an account up and running within 10 minutes. I suggest no matter how good the product is that they are offering, you take your money somewhere else.

Behavioral Security Hog wash

Why the hell do we have to consent to Behavioral security measures? You want to now track my every move and decision I make within my accounts. And if I don't consent we can no longer use online banking, WTF! I have tried to hang on to my accounts to save hassle of moving to another bank because of the unreliable service now that we have no banks open to go in and sort things out, but this is just another nail in the coffin for you Bankwest. How ludicrous. It should be a choice to consent or not and you should be protecting us from unusual activity on our accounts without needing to now track our own banking behavior. You do not need to know our mouse movements or typing patterns, this is infuriating. You closed the doors on us already, It's now time to close the door on Bankwest (& CBA) for good.

Extremely disappointed with my…

Extremely disappointed with my experience at Bankwest. What started as a simple banking relationship turned into a constant headache. The customer service is slow and unhelpful — every time I call, I’m bounced between departments and never get a straight answer. Their online banking system is clunky and unreliable, with frequent outages that make it impossible to access my accounts when I need to. On top of that, there are hidden fees that weren’t properly explained when I signed up. I expected better from a major bank. Definitely considering moving my accounts elsewhere.

Best customer support ever

Bankwest has the best customer support I've ever experienced. They show that in a world of crappy half arsed LLM bots and needless automation, you can have a customer support function that truly shines.

Recently I'd made a transfer against an old credit card number, resolved. I had a phone stolen in turkey got overseas insurance swiftly with no dramas. And if you travel they dont charge extra fees on international transactions. So great customer service and great offering.

If I could give 0 stars I would

If I could give 0 stars I would! Absolutely hopeless. I forgot my password so I pressed update password it won’t let me update it says to call them. So I call and they can’t do Anything except send out a password in the mail that may take 7 days. They can’t reset my pin so I can use my card or transfer money into another account for me. So I’m getting paid today and I can’t pay my rent or eat or feed my family or have petrol to get to work for 7 days apparently. And they have closed all their branches in Sydney so I can’t go into a branch. It’s disgusting It’s enough to make someone commit suicide. DONT CHOOSE BANKWEST!

Staff need better training in dealing with the customers over the phone!

Staff need better training in serving the customers.

It takes a long time to get anything accompolished!

It is difficult to understand some junior staff's spoken English.

Even the most simple inquiry about one's account takes ages to be resolved.

Recently a bank agent with a very difficult to understand accent did not complete my customer ID process instead illegally she reported to the upper management that "The customer failed the ID !"
As a result of her dishonest reporting BankWest put a hold on my account!

Too much emphasis is put into technology - ignoring the interaction with the customers over the telephone.

Even the online messaging system has been curtailed recently - as they no longer full access to one's bank account!

Post Offices are supposed to provide banking services - but they do not have the authority even to provide the most basic functions of a bank - like transferring money to another bank to open a term deposit - as they do not have the authority for such services.
