rather buy a cheap bikini, it won't be as much of a loss

My Aya Label experience began in May with the order of the Themis bathing suit in rib white that unfortunately became see-through when it touched water. After discovering that, I contacted customer service, which was very helpful and allowed for a free return as well as a full refund with which I could reorder although I had worn the bathing suit (which made me discover that it was see-through). It did take a while to get the return label, since I did have to reach out again, because they did not sent it to me on their own. But that can happen and I sent the bathing suit back and did get a full refund a few weeks later.
Since I care about sustainability and, all in all, had a good experience with Aya Label, I chose to give it another try. This time, I decided to go for a bikini and a top with padding to avoid it being see through. Assuming that it would also offer a little support while looking cute, I had my eye on the Clio top.
As I do have bigger boobs, I had a good look at the size chart and measured myself, so there would not be any problems this time.
Following the relevant size chart's recommendation, I ordered the Clio top in L, which supposedly fit my 94cm chest, and the Aphrodite bottoms in M.
As I was going on a trip to Denmark the very next week, I got them shipped there, since it remarkably did not make a price difference.
The bikini arrived shortly after I did and my excitement was huge until I tried it on. While the fabric is nice and feels good quality and the bottoms fit perfectly. However, either the size chart for the top I off or there is a production problem. My boobs literally fall out of the bikini: I have the choice between having my nipples be in the bikini and breasts pushing out to the sides of the cup, or pulling the the cup so it fits at the sides, cutting into my breasts to an extent that would still be bearable, but half of my boobs, including the nipples pushing out at the top.
This would have been no more than sad, had I not paid attention to the size chart and measured, but this made it very clear that either the size chart is wrong or the top I received has a problem.
My sister also tried the top on and it fit her perfectly. However her chest measures 84cm which, according to the size chart, would have been a size S.
Knowing Ayas return policy requires me to pay for a rather costly tracked mail return and the need for the return was not for a wrong doing on my end, I reached out to the customer service, asking for a free return. In light of my previous experience and considering the problems, I was not expecting any issues.
I got a swift email an hour later, telling me Aya does not do exchanges, but I could send the items back at my cost and reorder using a code for free shipping. Also, the issue would be discussed within the Aya-label team.
I understood this to mean that it would be discussed and customer service would get back to me thereon. In order to further illustrate the problem for purposes of such discussion, a few hours later, I provided pictures of both, me and my sister wearing the bikini top, showing the respective measurements, and a screenshot of the size chart provided for the bikini top on your website. Also, I explained that I perfectly understand and appreciate the reasoning for Aya-label’s return policy, but that, in my view, it is not meant to cover cases like mine where the mistake does not lie with the customer. Also, I again, asked for the possibility of a free return / exchange (since otherwise my sister would have kept the top and got the bottoms in a smaller size).
The next day I received an email that tested my patience. I felt like my previous email had been overflown at max and not been actually read, and someone was trying to talk me into keeping the too small bikini and/or buy an additional one. The person responding explained that he/she felt the bikini top fitted me perfectly. That it was designed to show some cleavage, and that my body looked beautiful (a comment both out of place and improper in this context). Further, the person recommended taking out the padding of the bikini. No mention though of the size chart, of the fact that the top does not fit a 94 cm bust although the size chart says so and none regarding the perfect fit on a person who would wear a much smaller size. Instead, the response recommended I try two other tops (would the size chart be more accurate on those?) and, on that occasion, I could order a smaller size pants for my sister.
This really go to me: a recommendation to spend another roughly 100€, plus the return postage, paired with unwarranted comments on my body and no admittance of a mistake or effort to resolve the situation.
There is no more space to evolve on the situation. But long story short: I replied to that email - never heard back. Reached out via Instagram - no reply. Stuck with the bikini & out 100€.
My title says it all.

Not as shown in pictures and sustainability is debatable

The bikini is made out of nice material and the color is very beautiful. Unfortunately it looks very different from the pictures on the website. I am 180 cm and the bikini makes your upper body look elongated because the top is cut very small. Also not as sustainable as could be. The order comes in a "biodegradable" bag but then the items are in the cheapest worst plastic bags possible. Doesn't make any sense to me. I have to pay the return shipping costs myself which is also not great either but better than paying 90 Euro for a bikini that only looks ok. Sorry Aya but i was expecting much more after seeing you pictures on the website. Maybe try and take more realistic pics?

Great fit - shame about the packaging

I sized up on this bikini (I got the Pallas in orange) as I suspected it would run small - I was right! But having done so it fits really nicely. The quality feels good and I like the finish. It arrived quickly too.

That said, what a shame about the individual plastic bags packaging/label. Even though the website says the bag is biodegradable, this is not strictly true (it takes very specific circumstances for this to happen: not at home/in regular local recycling centres and thus ends up in landfill). The vague information on the brand itself and the sustainability aspects on the website also feels a little dubious.

Small sizes and bad customer service

I like what the brand stands for and their work towards more ethical and sustainable clothing production, but the customer service really hasn’t impressed me. I reached out to them regarding my purchase, as it was too small, and still to this day have not received an answer, which makes it impossible to return according to their policy. Regarding their sizing, they range really small.

Favorite sustainable swimsuit brand!

I bought the Themis suit in burgundy last summer and have been super pleased with it. The quality is really good and the bathing suit keeps its colour really nicely. I'm eagerly waiting for their SS20 collection to drop so I can buy a new piece from them!

Amazing customer service!

I ordered a bikini set a few weeks ago and I was disappointed because they shipped me the wrong order. I contacted customer service and they let me keep the wrong order as a compensation for their mistake. They then sent me the right bikini by express and because I had to pay for customs again, they said they'd take care of it. Amazing and friendly customer service! And very happy with my order as well!

Wouldn't order something again :(

I really love your products and the fact that the swimwear ist sustainable, which made me order it. But unfortunately I had huge problems concerning the return. Even though I sent the package to the the right address (the one that is declared on the website) it kept coming back to me two times. After contacting the customer service they told me another address that didn't work either! After two months I contacted AYA Label per direct message on Instagram. They answered really quickly an luckily sent me a return label that finally worked. Nevertheless I got my money back, I would't order something again, because of the huge time, money (Overall I had to pay over 50 € for return by my self!) and effort the return process took me.

Hi Florentina,

That’s a pity to hear. I’ve checked with our customer service what happened and got the reaction that there was some problems with the returning of your items. We understand that if you shop online you don’t want hassle with returning something and this is something we also want to stand for.

Normally we don’t have a problem with our return address so I guess you were a bit unlucky. However it’s not correct that you paid 50 euros for returning something to us.

Can you contact me with an email at info@ayalabel.com so we can check if we can figure something out to resolve this for you.

We are very happy that you love your designs.

Best regards,

AYA

Excellent quality, sizing is alright

Excellent quality, beautifully cut, and I’ve gotten many compliments on my bikinis! The fact that they are environmentally friendly is why I bought them and they are so lovely So would definitely recommend. The only thing is if you have a bigger bust they may not be for you, the large is a little tight up top but the bottoms in M are perfect.

Best sustainable bikini!

I liked the style of the bikini, which is really unique! The quality is great, the colors as well and the fact that the material is sustainable made me purchase it and I am really happy with it. I would 10/10 recommend AYA Label to everyone, because it is really worth the money.

Nice

Hi, I really love Aya Label! I like the idea of using waste and transferring it in to nice and pretty swimwear. This is a good alternative for fast-fashion and other sorts of clothes that pollute the planet. It sometimes happens that brands who make clothes/swimwear from waste or recycled materials don’t look that appealing but I really like the creative designs of this brand. I haven’t bought one yet so I can’t say anything about the service, but will do so soon!

Simple, quality

I was looking for a one piece black bathing suit, but only found ones with an expensive price tag. I happened upon AYA's one piece black bathing suit on instagram. It is much more affordable. My suit has only been worn a handful of times, but it seems to be of good quality. I like that I can also wear it as a body suit; I wore it with a skirt while siteseeing in Athens and it was perfect for the hot weather. I would say that it is high cut and, for someone with a large butt, exposes a lot of behind. But I knew that when I bought it. A friend asked where I got it and for how much, she said that it looked as if it had a much higher price point.

Sustainability, quality, and comfort

I discovered AYA Label last summer when I was searching for sustainable swimwear. I spent weeks looking for the perfect style that wouldn't hurt the environment and at the same time would not break the bank! I was so pleased to come across a brand which cares about the environment just as much as it does about its customers!

The idea behind AYA is applaudable: they're working towards being a part of the environmental change while sending a body-positive message to all their customers.

There is a big choice of styles and colours, so there's something for everybody. The styles are simple and can be mixed and matched which makes your swimsuit truly 'your own'. The cuts are really comfortable and hug your figure really nicely. If you pick the right size, they are just the perfect fit!

The quality of the product is great too! I've spent the whole summer basically living in my Erato top and Aphrodite bottom and the pieces still look just as new.

Another thing worth mentioning is the amazing customer service. My order came really quickly, however my top was slightly defective. I messaged AYA and got a reply within minutes. Before I knew it, a new top was delivered to me! <3

I could not recommend AYA enough! Thank you for a sustainable swimwear choice that's beautiful, simple, and comfortable x

Favorite swimwear brand!♡

Absolutely love your products and client service. Last summer I was on the hunt for minimalistic, sustainable swimwear and I came across AYA Label. The products are beautiful and well-made, they look exactly like the pictures online. The fact that the swimwear is sustainable and that it has a positive impact on the environment is so great!

Aside from the products, I was really impressed by the client service. When I had a few questions regarding items that were out of stock, I got a really fast and friendly reply, plus it was very helpful. The delivery was also fast and the little details inside the package, such as the swimwear being lightly perfumed, made unboxing it even more enjoyable!

(Also love that the swimwear goes well on all bodies, it's so inclusive.)

I am looking forward to seeing new collections in the future!
