Went for a Free tier test of EC2…
Went for a Free tier test of EC2 virtual server.
This is the message I have received after a month
Hello,
EC2 has detected degradation of the underlying hardware hosting your Amazon EC2 instance (instance-ID: xxxxxx) associated with your AWS account (AWS Account ID: xxxxx) in the eu-north-1 region. Due to this degradation your instance could already be unreachable. We will stop your instance after 2024-07-17 16:05:00 UTC. Please take appropriate action before this time.
then they said
If you have questions or issues, contact AWS
However, if you are testing the product under the free tier, no support available.
And, no further email notifications about what to do, how to resume operation, etc...
Amazingly bad... this is not how I knew Amazon.
Also, all data on the Virtual Server got lost.
I am horrified by imagining what would have happened in case there was real data and business-critical data there ....
AWS promised me a refund which they later refused to pay
I opened an account in order to learn something, and forgot to close it later. It was taking a money from my credit card for a year, or more. When I contacted them, the girl from customer service promised me a refund for the last few months, which never came to my account. In the meanwhile my account was deleted, I cannot come to this conversation, the customer service is rude and ignores my questions. Once they answered me clearly saying that they will not refund the money because the account is deleted and kept ignoring my further trying to reach out.
Mafia...
Byzantine pricing
Byzantine pricing, zero real support. Plus such effort to push their proprietary tech, while most of their business is built on open source software. Boo.
You have to be careful with the balance…
You have to be careful with the balance and projected spend on virtual machines, it's very easy to go negative and work can come to a halt. Tech support helped me get my money back.
the service it worst.
the service it worst.
even i think write review is west of time
Golliath goes south....
I have been a customer of AWS since 2014.
Now, my glass is completly full, and I have to write this review.
I'll just give you this one example of thousands I won't list here.
I bought some 8 - 9 RIs, all partial upfront, like... 4 - 5 months ago.
Now it turns out my client is going away, and I don't use that region anymore.
Mind you, I had RIs with AWS for almost 10 years now.
After these 10 years, I ONCE request AWS to cancel those RIs, because I'm not using that region anymore.
Even though I do agree that they can't be cancelled, I figured, I'm losing money anyway selling them for free, (which by the way I tried and they didn't get advertised, since allegedly nobody wanted an m5a.xlarge for FREE for 5 months)
But they came back saying: "yes, in some cases we do make an exception, but it'll take us 20 - 40 days to do this".
Well in 40 days the RIs will just expire off their own free will...
And this is to show, that their support is along these llines at all times, with ANY issue. Even if it's them restarting my VPS instances at random times, etc...
It's basically NO support whatsoever.
Just someone telling you to rest assured, that someone will sleep on this for 2 months, and let you know of the outcome that is NOT favorable to you anyway.
And did I mention that they now charge for IPs? (and it's not a small fee either when you have 100+ instances...)
What an unprofessional thing to do... I mean... wait until people have a lot of IPs and then add a charge like this?
This is scraping to the bottom of the barrell for some extra cash. It's obvious they're not doing all that great anymore.
Did I mention the bandwidth charges too? The SSD disk charges?
Then, I wonder... just WHAT is the Instance cost for?!
Anyway... one of the biggest companies, will surely bite the dust if they keep treating their customers as their own private slaves.
Shady practice of charging people even…
Shady practice of charging people even when not using their services and up charging an ungodly amount when you do.
Never trust them 100%
We applied for $1000 aws credits under AWS ACTIVE STARTUP PLAN, Our Startup is verified and got aproved then the credit was added to our acount by aws team. 2 Days later we received a email saying they put our "Account on Hold"and asking us to provide Bank Statement, we already provided them 3 or 4 times, everytime they Reject it. its been more than a month, account is still UNDER HOLD. Their Servers are soo good no doubt in that but AWS itself is very unreliable .
Super happy aws.amazon.com
I am really happy to use this service for our IT needs, so good speed, and so clear understanding of dashboards. The price is so good, much less than expected. Thank to everyone who created this service!
Once again your speed is so good !!
On the one hand
On the one hand, I hate it, on the other hand, nothing else compares, so... aws it is
S3 has become an absolute clusterf***
Nothing on AWS "just works" anymore, for many years now, its just a service layer to build actual useful products on top of now it seems, their portal is an unusable enterprisey nightmare to navigate
was has terrible customer service
was has terrible customer service , they placed my account on hold, no idea why , you can't get in touch with them, then I just received a email from them asking for me to show another bill with information on it ? is this a scam/fraud or is AWS customer service just that bad?
I tried to use AWS managed blockchain
I tried to use AWS managed blockchain, the User Interface is really complex and it is not intuitive at all to shutdown the service (unlike the normal EC2 compute resource). I end up being charged quite significant (more than 100 USD) for the service that I am not using at all, and had to contact the support multiple times to shut it down. Until now, I don*t still know whether they stop charging me , or they keep charging me for the service I am not using. I mentioned that I authorized them to shut it down for me, as I am currently not using any of AWS service, but it was rejected. At least they should have the courtesy to shut it down for me if I authorize them to do so. This is a scam if they create such a complicated user interface, so the user can*t stop the service themselves and being charged for that!
Literally the scammiest wordpress…
Literally the scammiest wordpress hosting you can get, i have 100 visitors on the site and they want to charge me $20 for 0 support whatsoever, lightsail is the crappiest hosting I used so far.
Deleted my instance finally after a year and now they sitll want to bill me, there's no way to reach to support
This is run by shysters
This is run by shysters. They over charge you then don't respond. I am waiting for a response for a problem they have said is their fault and its been nearly 3 weeks. I cant continue with this project till this is resolved. They try to make you PAY to resolve THEIR issues and respond to you by making you sign up for a service plan (which I have tried to sign up for but can't as it doesnt charge you immediately). Worse bit is they keep charging you whilst you wait. Yep so they take their time. They take your money regardless. How this is legal is beyond me. They have you over a barrel. I wont use them again.
Worst Dev Experience
The worst developer experience ever. It’s impossible to register an SES identity.
still taking money for accounts that…
still taking money for accounts that are closed!!! cant get to talk to any customer service!!! this is a huge con !!! avoid!!!!!!!!
Convoluted pricing model and everything costs extra
I host quite a few unmanaged virtual private servers on AWS - personally and for my employer. Never had an issue with reliability, but the pricing scheme has become pretty nasty. Very difficult to predict your bill, everything costs extra: data, IP address, storage, services … and the billing model and weird pricing schemes seem to be designed specifically to obscure the true cost. Almost every other provider now has a MUCH better deal - better capability, lower cost, clear pricing. I’m slowly extricating our services away from AWS.
The worst
The worst. All the services are already available easily and cheaper from other competitors.
You can't track from their panel all your active services because they are splitted in regions and you for a simple VM can have also 50 active services. If you try to rid them you will have to cancel your services one-by-one as their support confirmed that bulk feature is not available. If you are not careful in terminate all of them you may have further charges as even if you close your account and do not terminate all the services you bill be anyway charged further. You could be billed for further 90 days after termination due to their billing system. The support anyway helped me in rid them and I took 3 hours to do easy global termination and they granted the billing would be set to avoid further charges
closed my account and was still charged…
closed my account and was still charged for services I had closed down
