I spoke with several aircraft insurance companies. Most were not up to the task. One other company was professional and did well, but not as good as Avemco. It became apparent that Avemco was g... See more

Avemco Insurance Company has been insuring pilots and aircraft owners since 1961, making us one of the most experienced and trusted names in general aviation insurance. As the only direct writer of aircraft insurance in the United States, we offer a uniquely straightforward experience from the very first conversation. We specialize in liability and hull coverage for single and multi engine piston aircraft, seaplanes, gliders, experimental aircraft, CFIs, flying clubs, and aircraft traders.
Not all aircraft insurance policies and premiums are the same. As the only direct writer in the market, we never use third party insurance agents and instead connect you directly with an aviation underwriter who is ready to solve problems and approve
overage based on your individual situation.
This direct model allows us to deliver the most personalized experience in general aviation insurance. Your underwriter works one on one with you to understand your aircraft, your experience level, your training, and how you actually fly, giving you faster answers, clearer communication, and attentive service.
Rated A++ (Superior) by AM Best, we offer exceptional financial strength and long standing stability. Backed by decades of aviation expertise, we deliver clear policies, fast quotes, exceptional customer service, and coverage built around the way you fly.

Over the past several years after signing up with Avemco, I have always been surprised and grateful that every one I have talked to or requested help from at avemco have gone overboard to help me with my
concern or question.

Praise for Dixie, Lucas, and Paul Athey, who have assisted me (age 75 and planning to keep active forever ...) since 2023; in May 2026 they further assisted me in adding a second aircraft with "credits" for (1) having been awarded the FAA Wright Brothers Master Pilot award (2) having both aircraft under AVEMCO.

Avemco is one of the easiest insurance companies to do business with. Great communications, easy to understand documents.

Willingness to provide an additional discount due to my Wings safety courses and most of my hours being with an instructor as I pursue my IFR rating.

Your agent or CSR was very helpful in explaining a reduced level of coverage once the plane is brought back to Danville until I get my medical re-issued. Currently have to get cataract surgery.

For over 20 years I have been a loyal AVEMCO customer.
I have never had a claim. In nearly 50 years of flying, I have never had an accident, an incident, or a violation.
First, you would not write me $1M smooth. OK
So I opted for $200K per seat, but...
Secondly, you would no longer write that policy, you limited me to $100K. (But the price was about the same). OK
NOW... You have instigated a new policy that I must get a biannual flight review every year, and that I must get a physical certification EVERY YEAR !!!!
I have no objection to annual training. In fact, I always continue training.
Insurance companies would NORMALLY be data-driven. But there is NO data supporting the need for annual physical certification!
The fact is that in-flight incapacitation (other than CO poisoning and alcohol abuse) is practically null. This is the reason for the success of Basic Med and Light Sport.
I maintain a 3rd class medical, and in my community of 100K people, there is exactly ONE doctor who is an AME, and he is not accepting any new patients. So most of us need to travel to find and AME. With scheduling and costs, this is a major imposition!
You have instigated a "solution-in-search-of-a-problem".
If your intent is to reduce your market-share, then you are doing a good job!
Don't forget that it is the older guys who have the money, and who own the airplanes!
For over 20 years, I would have NEVER considered using a different insurance company other than AVEMCO.
Thanks to your new policies, for the first time, I am considering contacting a broker.
Sincerely,
Martin Hoel

My annual renewal was accomplished without any problems. I am in the senior
age category and Avemco was there to provide the service I needed.
