Inaccurate manual, rubbish customer service
Having been a Haynes manual user since 1981, I purchased a Haynes manual to help with my son's first car, specifically clutch cable adjustment.
Thing is Haynes think the Hyundai i10 has a hydraulic clutch!
The guide was generic, of little use, so I immediately requested a refund.
Haynes customer service is appalling. No response to emails until 10 days confirming a refund which was received after 15 days. Cynical if you ask me considering their terms are full refund within 14 days. Could they ignore your cancellation request to maximise the period they have your money?
Massive disappointment
Massive disappointment. I have bought and used Haynes manuals all my life and found them excellent. I’ve been working on cars and bikes for 50+ years. When I wanted to change my battery on my Volvo, I ran into disassembly problems and bought the online manual (printed manual not available) to find out how to dismantle the airbox. The only comments on the battery are advice on how to safely connect and disconnect, the kind of thing you’d learn in the first session of an evening class. I’ve searched the whole thing and there is nothing about removing the battery. And yet ‘battery removal’ is one of the pages they use to illustrate it on their own website. So disappointed in a brand I have used and supported for decades. Contacting them in the morning for a refund.
Haynes Online Manuals RUBBISH
I urgently needed a detailed electrical wiring diagram for the headlights on a VS Commodore and what I got was something so ‘general’ that it might as well been about building windmills! How brain dead do you have to be to sell such rubbish as an online Repair Manual! I used to think Haynes sold quality products. Sadly it’s the new world of paying good money for no service or products not worth a cent! NEVER BUY ONLINE PRODUCTS FROM THIS MOB!
In recent times I have encountered similar problems and they all happened after the company was bought out, and then services went downhill until what was once a good service/business was run into the ground until it disappeared. I suspected this was the case here and yes it is! How sad.
Only give 1 star as that's the only way…
Only give 1 star as that's the only way to get to the review box. As everyone else says wish i had read the reviews. Not a patch on the old book type. Very basic information. Unable to log in and have now given up on it as Haynes seem to think it a problem at my end rather than their's. Waste of money
These manuals are a criminal rip off!
These manuals are a criminal rip off!! Having used many Haynes printed manuals in the past, I was expecting detailed step by step repair instructions with photos. There are none!!
Nothing but generic vague single sentence instructions …eg; replace exhaust!
Im contacting the company on Monday for a refund. If I don’t get it, I’ll be seeing them in court!
Basic
Basic, generic and hard to navigate. A waste of time and money.
Compared to the traditional BMW 3…
Compared to the traditional BMW 3 series hard copy, the new 1 series Auto fix online manual is absolutely appalling. Very difficult to find actual useful information. I cannot believe Haynes have come to this. Why not sell the traditional style manual "on-line" as a PDF?
Useless for an Alfa Spider
I looked for a Haynes manual for an Alfa Spider, needing to know how all the complicated roof mechanisms work. I ended up buying an auto fix "manual" for £28 thinking that I didn't need the physical manual, I could just see it online and print something if I needed it. Once into the system, I see that it is only basic stuff like changing a lightbulb, and checking oil levels. It does show how to top up the hydraulic oil level for the roof, but that's still pretty basic. There is more information in the user handbook that came with the car than in this useless software. Under the section "technical drawings" I thought that might yield diagrams I could follow, but all it had were three drawings of the seats, showing a full rear seat complete with headrests and a drop down section in the middle. Since the Spider is a two-seater, it doesn't even have a rear seat! It is basically useless, they are cashing in on the fact that we all used to use the Haynes manuals in the past and got on OK with them, but don't bother with the Autofix system.
Disappointing and misleading Subscription
Bought a Haynes online subscription thinking it’d be useful, but it was a complete letdown. The info was useless, and they used pictures of the wrong car! Total scam, honestly. Save your cash and skip this one.
I wish I'd read the reviews first
I wish I'd read the reviews first. I found out the hard way it is a complete waste of money. I was looking for a wiring diagram so I could finish wiring up a towbar to my daughter's 2009 Mazda 3. It's just full of generic details that any competent DIYer would know anyway. The marketing hints at using extracts from the manufacturer's own workshop manuals. This is not the case
Haynes Online Manual is a fraud.
Like many DIY mechanics I have found over the years the Haynes Manual to be an invaluable aid. Unfortunately those day appear to be over as the Online offering is in essence a fraud.
Not impressed
Not impressed, not model specific but a generic one. Need to bring back the paper versions
Same as the others say
Same as the others say. It's a scam. Just generic info. probably found with ChatGPT.
I want the proper book like before. Not rubbish online crap.
Genuinely a waste of money
When I was (a lot) younger Haynes was THE standard for DIY car maintenance manuals. They were simply excellent. This new incarnation is a complete betrayal of the Haynes brand. Much of what you get is very generic information that is easily bested by the free how-tos on YouTube. I completely wasted my money buying this - something I never thought I'd be saying about a Haynes manual.
Complete false advertisement
Complete false advertisement, no specifics to your own vehicle just generic rubbish on any random vehicle, what use is that!!!!
Please do not purchase this utter garbage.
A total scam, does NOT offer what they promise.
There's no other words to use than a scam.
If you watch the preview video for the Haynes Autofix, it promises you detailed information and videos online, to assist with all home servicing and DIY repairs on your car.
This is nothing more than a lie. If you search on an error code most will not actually link to any information. When they do, it's generic and useless, if any actual advice is offered at all.
You can obtain more information from a random internet search or YouTube.
They indicate that they won't offer refunds on this product. However, it is not fit for purpose, so I will be contacting Trading Standards directly to report this scam. If I don't get joy there, I will utilise the Chargeback on my card. I'm not going to be ripped off for £28 on a product that doesn't do what they describe in their promotional material.
Do not ignore the reviews for this product, or you too will be coming here to write a review just like all the others.
Total waste of money
Total waste of money. I always bought the haynes manual for all my vehicles (34 now) and they have been an invaluable resource for maintaining them, but this online version is just a joke. No useful content AT ALL and no refunds! A trap to get your money off you, nothing more. I cannot use this to work on my car, so it is NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE.
Haynes name sold it to me
