New level - Auto1 commits tax frauds now
Auto1 auctions VAT deductible vehicles, in which case you pay the full amount and after you have received your vehicle, Auto1 refunds the VAT. Weird logic, but so far it had worked like that. Now I bought another VAT deductible car from Italy and when it was time to claim my VAT refund, they told me it is not possible, as it was "margin" car. I sent them all the original invoices with clear VAT evidence, but they still said that this was a "margin" car from the beginning. Also, it turned out, that during the transportation time, they had replaced VAT invoices with "margin" invoices on the Auto1 platform aswell. As this car was a customer order, I had sold it to the customer and also paid my local VAT in the belief, that I will receive the VAT refund from Auto1. Now Auto1 has caused me 1700+ EUR loss and a mess for my accountant.
I am forced to contact tax office and police to start investigation, as Auto1 is not willing to solve this situation.

do not trust
The auto1.com website has many attractive used vehicles at good prices, but they do not take any responsibility for the sold vehicle. As the sales manager put it, "Your vehicle, your problems".
You buy a cat in a bag, as in the description there is no information about defects, compensation is poor, and often they are not granted at all
NEVER NEVER BUY ANYTHING FROM THEM !!!!

Worst customer service ever.
They don't provide full information about the services they offer. If you are buying a vehicle from them, you will not receive it on time. The service is bad. They do not provide information about delivery time; you just sit and wait. They don't care about the customer. If you receive the car with damage, you will never get compensation. They do not pay well to transport companies, and they work with the worst transport companies, which do not care about delivery quality.
No guarantees, compensations do not exist
I will share my car buying experience from Auto1. I bought a BMW 525xd, WF40748 from Italy. After 2 months since the settlement the car has been delivered. When buying the car, the description on Auto1.com did not indicate any technical defects. The car arrived with many defects:
1. The undercarriage pneumo compressor is not working (Chinese, not original), the car arrived sitting.
2. Damaged interior, dirty tires dropped right on the light leather seats. After full chemical cleaning of the interior, the stains could not be removed, the interior was damaged, another interior was purchased.
3. Torn sailen blocks, it is not safe to operate the car.
4. Completely bare car tires.
5. Lubricated engine, allows lubricants.
6. General condition of the car - garbage on 4 wheels.
I understand, everything happens, perhaps a large, experienced, responsible company did not notice 6 or more major defects during the car inspection. For whom it does not apply.
We are trying to resolve the situation. I am submitting a claim for car defects through the Auto1.com system. I submit a claim in accordance with all requirements, perform inspections at several car service centers, submit invoices for repair work, take detailed photos and videos of defects. The total damage I suffered is EUR 1613. According to Auto1.com's internal rules, a deduction of EUR 250 (non-refundable amount) is applied. So I asked the company Auto1 to reimburse 1613 Eur - 250 Eur = 1363 Eur.
A large, responsible company that cares deeply about its customer has filed a response to the claim. After evaluating my claim and the requested compensation of EUR 1363, Auto1, as a gesture of goodwill, gave a EUR 100 COUPON for another purchase, with the note that by using the coupon, I automatically agree to the compensation. None of the defects were considered by the seller to be compensable.
Compared to other companies, Auto1's service and problem solving is very low level, they care about the customer until the money is transferred. It is not in the customer's interest to come back to buy more. The company follows the strategy of one-time sales.
Before buying a car, consider the fact that there are no guarantees, compensations do not exist, when the car will arrive and what condition it will be in, it will become clear only when it arrives.

Dishonest opportunists
The evaluation process of a vehicle and what they offer for your car equals to a ripoff compared to what they ask when re-selling that vehicle with ZERO investment (like a polishing job or any type of repair if necessary). Mostly, those falling for these offers are, elderly sellers from western-European countries while the buyers are from eastern-European countries, truly believing they get a well inspected and maintained vehicle. Even if you don't have any idea about the value of what you are about to sell, I recommend you to search a bit on the internet before you fall for their "offer".
I've seen it how it's done when they offered me a management position for their customer service. And it's not the people who work there to blame, they are just doing what they're told, it's the whole construct of this business. AUTO1=AutoHero=Wirkaufendeinauto

Scam Service
Auto1 provides fake car reports and never refunds for the issues that were hidden from them. It is a scam service that manages to sell worthless/scrap cars as "like new".
Prepare for a long and pricey lawsuit against them, if you decide to buy from them.
Avoid like the plague

This company is one of the worst places…
This company is one of the worst places to buy cars from. They sell vehicles that do not match their descriptions, and when you submit a claim, they always reject it. They provide new reasons for rejection every time, and even if you follow their exact instructions for submitting a claim, they still give you additional and unreasonable tasks that are difficult to accomplish.
Some of the vehicles are okay, but the percentage of those with defects is much higher compared to other suppliers. It has also happened that they sold us a vehicle with a different chassis number on the documents than on the actual vehicle. It took us one year and an endless number of emails to return the vehicle since it couldn't be registered. Additionally, we didn't receive a refund for all the expenses we had with this vehicle.
We would still like to praise Mr. Doles, who has been in contact with us and has been assisting us to the best of his abilities.
