My wife and I were invited to a movie about annuities. After the movie, we were connected to a fiduciary financial consultant, who rather quickly talked us into investing over half of our portfolio into two annuities, one for each of us. A few days later, feeling rushed, we balked at signing and explained that we simply didn’t know enough about what we were doing to sign over so much of our retirement savings. Looking for a second opinion, we came across some helpful podcasts online made by Marty, which helped us considerably in better understanding annuities, so we contacted him. It became VERY apparent that Marty was well above the curve in his understanding of annuities as well as his ability to explain them. My wife and I are several years different in age and will retire at different times. Marty was able to navigate all our issues with our retirement, even breaking it down monthly. He was amazing! As I mentioned at the beginning, I was an annuity skeptic. I knew several people, who in their 50's, bought annuities that guaranteed income 20 years in the future. They couldn't access their money and growth was limited. In fact, at age 55 I told my present financial planner that I would fire him on the spot if he presented any annuity to us!
