Water leak trace
We had Manan from Aspect who came to do a leak trace, after Thames Water said there was a leak somewhere in outside supply pipe on property. He's done a through and professional job today and will come back this week confident he can pinpoint exactly where the leak is.

I contacted Aspect to address a damp issue in my flat. On the phone, I was told they would be able to both carry out diagnostics and provide a quote for any recommended work.
When the contractor arrived, it became clear that he was not aware of this arrangement and could not provide any quotes without a full diagnostic, which he said would take 8 hours at approximately £100/hour. I repeatedly explained that, because the property is split into two flats, I would need to check with the upstairs neighbours before agreeing to or booking a diagnostic service that expensive. Despite this, the contractor still spent the visit walking around the front of my flat, hallway, and front room, discussing possible issues and potential diagnostics, while occasionally using a thermal camera and moisture probe. It felt like the visit was unnecessarily prolonged, even though he knew he would need to return for any full diagnostics.
Afterwards, he spent about half an hour in his van writing a report. I was charged for an hour and a half, totaling £148.42 + VAT. However, almost a week later, I have still not received the promised report.
While I appreciate the contractor’s efforts to explain possible causes, the experience left me feeling that my time and money were not well spent. Clearer communication about what would be provided during the visit, respecting the context I had explained, and a more timely delivery of the report, would have made this a much more positive experience.

It isn’t possible to give zero stars so I had to give one.
I booked an electrician to run a power supply to a new condenser unit in my garden. To do this he needed to access the utility area of my kitchen. Along the way he needed to pull out my washing machine and my freezer. When he finished the job he put everything back. I thought everything was ok until I went to take something out of the freezer 4 days later to find that it was actually powered off - everything was defrosted and spoiled.
I documented for Aspect what was in the freezer. It had a total value of £90 approx. It took 2 phone calls to get them to send the electrician back to fix the issue, and when he did he admitted that he had incorrectly reconfigured the socket when he was doing the initial work for me. He said it was his error and that he would let the company know. I told him I had a financial loss because of the food that needed to be thrown out and that I wanted Aspect to reimburse me and he said he would speak to them. Since then there has been nothing.
This seems to be a company that is very quick to take a booking, very quick to take your credit card information, and very unwilling to correct or make good any issues of damage or loss as a result of their representatives’ actions. I recommend looking elsewhere.

Refused Refund on Plumbing Job that was left a Fire Hazard
Apsect were asked to come and provide a quotation for replacing a shower pump due to excessive noise for £72. The plumber who attended said that pumps are supposed to be noisy and the way to deal with this was use the fibreglass insulation from around the surrounding walls to pack the pump and dampen the noise. This 10 minute job meant a minimum charge was applied for £127.50.
Upon hearing this after the plumber had left, I rang the pump manufacturer to investigate if this noise level was indeed normal. Within 30 mins they told me the pump was faulty and could be replaced under their warranty scheme free of charge (£400+) but in their messages they stated that the insulation used to pack the pump into place was a fire hazard and should be immediately removed.
I emailed a complaint to plumbing(at)aspect.co.uk but due to no response, I removed the insulation myself as I have 10 month baby sleeping next door to the bathroom as well as my wife and I on the top floor flat of the building.
A week later, I received a call that asked if they could come out to remove the insulation but this had already been done by myself and I wasn't satisfied that this was worth the paid fee when it should have been a quotation. However, the refusal to rectify means nothing further can be done and that is that!
The principle of giving money for a substandard service and poor duty of care means I am quite happy to be a thorn to recover the costs.

Blocked pipe
Very Friendly trades man put his camera down the main pipe from the manhole and showed me the condition of the drain pipe running through the house. removed the blockage to the drain gully in front of house managed to get the water to drain away.

You cannot rely on them turning up on the agreed time.
Wednesday morning I called about a tap that was not closing properly and a couple of pipes that needed cleaning. The pipes were cleared and I was advised that the best cause of action was to replace the mixer tap and that one could be delivered on Thursday if I accepted the job quote. The form for accepting the job quote glitched and when I submitted again the delivery would not be until Friday morning. The parts were delivered just after 14:15 but I was now told that the engineer would not be able to attend until Monday morning. This leaves us with a tap that is leaking water and no shower over the weekend. They would not even consider offering me a discount for the inconvenience.

I had an EICR carried out on the morning of Friday 10th April. On two separate calls to Aspect I was promised 'within 5 working days' and told this would be Thursday 16th April. To date (Friday 17th) I have not received a report. I have had to engage an electrician from another company at further cost. I request a full refund of £196.80 from Aspect.

Hands down the worst company I have…
Hands down the worst company I have ever dealt with. Moved into a new home and needed a door that met fire safety regulations. Someone came round, fit the new door and left. Only for the door not to close properly, no handle, wasn’t painted and cracks in the door frame. Kept asking for a fire safety certificate, never arrived. Then we proceeded to schedule someone else in to look at the door as it wasn’t closing properly, after 5 attempts of ringing them and scheduling and rescheduling, someone came round and couldn’t believe the work his colleague had done. Said it certainly didn’t meet fire safety regulations despite that’s what we paid for in the first place. Then we had to reschedule the new guy to come round to fit a new door in, agreed a time, didn’t arrive after 4 hours so phoned customer service to ask where he is only for them to tell us he was ill and they can’t send a replacement “as he is the only one who can fit a fire door”. This process has now gone on for 3 months. Worst run company I have ever seen and will certainly never use or recommend them to anyone. I’ll be asking for compensation in due course.

As a former engineer for this company, it’s important to share an honest and factual account of how they operate.
This company is extremely profit driven, often at the expense of both engineers and customers. Engineers are regularly pressured to overcharge clients on materials, while the company takes a large percentage from the labour costs. To make matters worse, any discounts offered to customers are taken directly from the engineer’s pay, not the company’s cut.
Engineers are also subject to unfair financial penalties. For example, if a customer raises a chargeback with their bank, the engineer is immediately deducted for the job and will not be paid, regardless of the time, effort, or money already spent. That money is rarely, if ever, recovered.
There are also deductions related to driving, even in normal situations. For instance, braking suddenly to avoid a potential accident can still be flagged and penalised. These deductions can continue monthly until their system deems your driving acceptable.
On top of this, engineers are charged lead fees for every job assigned, which further reduces earnings. There is clear favouritism in how jobs are allocated, and engineers are often expected to travel unreasonable distances, sometimes up to a 200 mile radius, for jobs that may only take an hour. Refusing these jobs, especially as a new engineer, can result in threats of termination.
All fuel, parking, and travel expenses are covered by the engineer, making long distance jobs even less worthwhile. Additionally, office staff frequently assign jobs to engineers who may not have the appropriate skill set, which creates unnecessary complications on site.
Overall, this is not a fair or supportive company to work for, and customers should be aware of how their pricing is structured.
