ARMND self defence criminal identifier spray.
I bought two cans of the ARMND brand self defence criminal identifier spray. I tested both cans and it didn't perform as advertised!
I tested them both on some card and some tissue to avoid getting it on myself. I shook the second can very well to see if it made a difference and it didn't.
It stated on the can that it has a foul odour but there was no smell whatsoever! When i questioned this they said "The formula also includes an odour component, however the strength of the scent can vary and may not always be immediately noticeable when tested on absorbent materials such as tissue or cardboard." From the stated "foul odour" on the can to having no scent whatsoever when i tested it is a ridiculously massive variation and the scent was still not noticeable at all during the 24 hours that i kept the card and tissue after i sprayed them!
It stated in the description on the armnd.com website that upon activation it would release a powerful stream of thick, sticky red dye, which it didn't! The dye was the complete opposite of thick and sticky, it was more like water with red food colouring in!
If you are planning on buying this because of the stated foul odour or the described "thick, sticky red dye" then i would look elsewhere and buy a different product!
I emailed them to complain and mentioned i was obviously not happy, they contradicted the description on the website and said "Regarding the consistency of the spray, the formulation is intentionally designed to spray in a fine liquid stream to maximise range and coverage, rather than as a thick gel." This is basically a direct contradiction of the website's description of a thick, sticky red dye!
I told them i was seriously considering reporting the site and product to relevant authorities for false advertising and that i wanted a refund and would not return the product if it would be at any cost to me.
Thankfully they instantly refunded me and did not ask for the product to be returned. Because of this i didn't report them but i am leaving this review instead.
However i did suggest that they change the description to match the actual performance of the product so that they don't face any legal consequences in the future. As of today the 2nd of June, the description remains the same on their website.
