They will not even speak with you without a valid active warranty.

Great product, but will not give you the time of day without a warranty, and the restrictions for the warranty are very, very restrictive. I unkowningly bought a watersoftener from a gray retailer. When I told them the retailer's name, they refused to even talk with me about an issue I was having with their product. I can only surmise that after the warrenty is over, their desire to help you will terminate as well.
